Most of the time, the alignment system is played completely straight. "Good" and "Evil" have their common ordinary definitions, fiends kick puppies and celestials don't, we're supposed to root for the guys with healing magic and against the guys with necromancy magic. But whenever Redcloak and the goblins are in the spotlight, we're shown that goblins are automatically Evil regardless of their actual behavior and therefore paladins are not only allowed but encouraged to massacre them unprovoked, including children. Redcloak's whole backstory is about him being an initially normal, decent guy who suffered a long string of tragedies and ended up working for a totally unsympathetic cartoon villain out of misguided desperation to accomplish an understandable goal, but he begins that arc as a cleric of an Evil deity. Nobody else ever brings this up or questions the validity of the alignment system. Why can't Rich make up his mind if Good is good and Evil is evil or if Good and Evil are just team colors that don't reflect actual morality?

The thing is that OOTS's setting is an artificial construct with a bunch of fake bullshit rules created by bored deities for their own amusement and benefit, but there is a greater cosmology that the gods don't have complete control of (as seen in your pic) with its own behavior. For better or worse, Rich has avoided providing clear lines where the in universe parody ends and the natural cosmology begins, and the natural cosmology's rules are very poorly defined. LG Paladins murdering goblin babies fits into the parody setting rules because bad faith interpretations of Alignment is funny, but it isn't clear if Alignment is even a thing in the cosmology or if that is just a part of the parody bullshit.

As for characters questioning it, in the current story arc the main characters are openly taking the position that the gods have extremely questionable motives despite their on paper alignment, but team stick don't want the world to the end so they are holding their noses and trying to help the gods stop the world from being eaten.

>Why can't Rich make up his mind if Good is good and Evil is evil or if Good and Evil are just team colors that don't reflect actual morality?
D&D has a retarded cosmology and he frequently runs up against its limitations. Luckily, the comic is satirical so it doesn't matter.

>The forum is dogshit
/qst/ is dog shit.
That doesn't mean Quests belong here.

>the mods are regular posters and will [scrub] your shit on sight if you step out of line
What did you say in the opening post that might be [scrubbed]?

out of the entire 4chan, tg is the group that is unquestionably best equipped to answer OP's question
stop being obtuse, it doesn't impress anybody

You got the order wrong there.
Its
>why can't dnd make up its mind if good is Good and evil is Evil or if they're just ream colors that don't reflect actual morality?
and the answer is that because dnd is a game with noombers its not viable to have that cleanly map onto both player subjective morality and player character objective morality. The interface causes disjunction and ambiguity, so its best to not try and resolve the tension and instead fall back on it being beyond mortal comprehension as fundamental metamagical universe hand wave if you're the gm and roll with the punches as best you can if you're a player.

Out of the entire internet, the forum made for the retarded comic is unquestionably the best equipped to answer OP's question. Stop being obtuse, it doesn't impress anybody.

Actual morality? What's that?

>>98820914
I'm not
I know you know there are tons of reasons why someone would prefer 4chan over gitp forums, so I'm not going to pretend like you need it explained
