>Do /yourdudes/ have flyers?
They have tzaangors, so yes

Listen I don’t want more bird themed shit. I also think disc riders shouldn’t be redone unless there’s some heavy innovation. I guess if it really needs to be a thing, some flying chaos spawn, I don’t know why this isn’t a thing to begin with. Otherwise just give us a generic demon prince.
>>
>>98819502
Funnily enough, lizardmen came up with their own pterosaur riding character with a similar sounding name at the start of the same year as the release of the first avatar movie.

Fuck anons now you've put it into my head that the chaos dragon could have different heads or other bits so it could represent (and be taken by the armies of) the different specific chaos gods. Much like the defiler in 40k.
I know gw won't actually do it so now I'm already disappointed in a model that we don't even know is actually coming.
>>
>>98819564
For some reason it's absolutely insane to me that fantasy was around and still releasing finecast models when Avatar released.
>>
>>98819566
>Much like the defiler in 40k.
>I know gw won't actually do it
the defiler sold a fuckton, part because it was OP or something, but it wouldn't surprise me if gw took the good lesson from it for once and made more cross compatible units for chaos, even if it was just through a single head bit and a regiment of renown.
>>
>>98819572
It was metal at the time, finecast came later.

>>
>>98819586
Why weren't these just part of the stream preview?
>>
>>98819574
Yeah I would think being able to play something like a chaos dragon in 5 armies instead of 1 would be a serious boost to its sales, even if you have to find a way to cram half a sprue of alternate heads in there. Khorne and nurgle especially are quite popular too.
Who knows, maybe there's hope...
>>
>>98819586
good for nulhamian shit and obr conversions
>>
>>98819599
>even if you have to find a way to cram half a sprue of alternate heads in there
modern design directions try to emphasize semi-realistic proportions and huge sizes, which means heads are getting relatively smaller, so cramming a few extra heads isn't the problem
the necks would be the problem
>>
>>98819586
I feel like I'm turning into a grog because despite these being massively superior to the old ones from a technical level I kinda prefer the dogshit older skeletons. These ones feel cluttered, I can't really tell where one horse ends and the other begins easily. Kind of a common trend in tow I'm noticing, reminds me of the marauders. Fantastic sculpts but don't really look good in a unit because it all kind of blends together.
Idk is this a consequence of modern sculptors not being familiar with designing rank and flank minis or something?
The shields look kind of off too. Do like the weapons a lot though they're cool.
>>
>>98819634
>Idk is this a consequence of modern sculptors not being familiar with designing rank and flank minis or something
Kinda. I feel like it's the issue that even rank and file units need to have dynamic™ poses now so when they're put next to each other it just turns into a visual mess
>>
>>98819634
I kind of like them, I agree the shields should be less flashy and I like that only the one horse has a fancy headdress if they all had it it would ruin the entire thing. I think with a better paint job they'd look good. mm they do look a little spaced out but probably fine.

It's the colour scheme, look

the old models were way whiter, allowing for greater contrast between shadows and highlights of the bones, and used very bright red and very bright turquoise as spot colors, while the gold was darker and a unifying element
the new models are using warmer almost yellow bones, with bright yellow gold, and red that's practically brown, with little to no turquoise, it makes the whole thing a homogenised mess

>>
>>98819686

>At delve bottom, a long basin of water rested in a vaulted stone cavern. At first I feared we had missed Azhmon’s stores of Aqua Ghyranis, but it was only a bathhouse. The pool ran the length of the chamber, a quarter mile, penetrated here and there by fingers of earthfire that hardened into steaming stalactites where they stabbed the rippling mirror. Corpses bobbed in the crystal waters, the red of their vigour swimming to me like tendrils of ink, drawn by my gravity.

>I clanked to a knee at the pool’s edge, cupping my hand in the waters. I had wanted a bathhouse, as a child. At a certain age, a foolish age, it had been all I dreamed of. It hadn’t mattered how poorly defensible bathhouses were, or what little leverage they offered to allies and rivals. Sharing the bathhouse with my kin would have been enough. Anything would have been enough, so long as it was more than the nothing I had known.

>When Delve Geruun died, nothing would be left of this. An earthquake would crack the pool’s basin, and the water would leak into the crevices of the realm. Ten years from now, or ten hundred, that water would bleed back to the surface of Aqshy, to soothe the cracked lips and parched throat of some mortal. None who tasted its flows would ever know where it had come from. None would know that this eternal water had been reborn from the dead dream of Heldanarr Fall, who had finally found his bathhouse.

He only wanted to be a pool boy...

I'll be honest I like the idea of FINALLY there being dwarves who are essentially the Old dwarves uniting all of dwarfkind and working together to build a better tomorrow for their people,
Also cannot wait for Valaya to come back, No I dont care that Grimnyr got disenchanted, and Grungi left for a pack of cigarettes and never came back I want Valaya their mother godess to lead them forward and let the Khazalite Holds be thee Dwarves THE DWARVES that I grew to love in Warhammer Fantasy....... NEXT to the Chaos Dwarves but we already have the Helsmiths so :D

either way I cannot wait to have their army box too and thus start collecting Dwarves like infinity stones

Granted I probably am first making a HUUUUGE Destruction army with my Ogors since they are actually quite versitile lookwise (seriously even the OLDER models like Okar's Torbad and Mournfangs have quite a suprising amount of customization which I enjoy the new ones too very awesome)
add in the Giants (atleast the boss stompers) and THEN KRAGNOS!

Afterwards I'm free to do DA REST :D

>>
>>98819634
Is it really “being a grog” if there’s a legitimate reason for it like you say?
>>
>>98820544
The problem I have is that for several editions their has been a growing united duardin narrative that was completely thrown away in the release of the Khazalites. Grombrindal and Grungni had repeatedly been shown as working towards something knew and learning from the past failures of the Khazalid Empire to build something new, then we get Khazalite Holds that are as their newly released rules show just back to grudges and traditions.

It was entirely feasible to explore classic dawi with the Old World and use AoS to define something a little bit more, though perhaps we will see that as things unveil further and we get more information.
>>
>>98820569
The problem with the "New ways" is that while SURE the gods CAN try to find new ways but I dont want my stompy alcoholics to be just "Oh yeah greedy inventors" or "Oh yeah mercenaries EVEN TO CHAOS if they give them Ur-gold" (to restore their god)

If I have to choose between these factions I'll say frick both factions and I'm joining whoever is closest to the Dwarves of old because they maaay have had greedy moments, angry just murder everyone till the grudge is settled, and mercenary moments, but they werent THIS badly divided,

now I understand what you suggest and having characters like Grombrindal and Grungi trying to find a new way for the dwarves IS a good idea but I'd preffer my mountain dawi be back in the mountains doing great things and improve things upon themselves

With Thorgrim being back (this time as an ancestor god) it is plausable since he isn't an angry "Lets murder everything" person even while a mortal he was like "....Do we REALLY need to killeverything for this small problem?" he was a reasonable rational dwarf who GENUENLY was settling Grudges, sometimes with blood other times with gold but Dwarves were moving FORWARD with him while still holding on to tradition.

We can have both moving forward and keeping tradition at the same time.

Same style of drawing faces, particularly expressions. Converted the open/V neck armor of the gaunt summoner to the same high-collar cravat/ascot that every single hazbin hotel character has. From what's visible, they did the same thing to the sleeves. Same stylization of the figure, based on the full body drawing of the gaunt poster last thread.

This is not a critique of the art style, but there were multiple decisions to go off-model for the Gaunt Summoner to fit it into the hazbin hotel style.

There’s three types of dispossessed according to what I know.
ironweld Dwarves who distill and further their knowledge of engineering and warfare with the cities. And then there’s the regular ones who either helped build the cities of sigmar and live there, still live in mountain homes with the realm of Azyr, or found new homes or managed to defend the ones they had. The vast majority of them outside of Azyr are fucked however. It’s why every single time theres a dwarf involved in a story they’re either looking for their lost homes which are literally just lost or fell, or mad as fuck they lost one.

This is what you would understand about the Duardin from reading the core books, Duardin novels in general, the white dwarfs about Grombrindal or his book, and Soulbound. That would also require you to give a fuck about AoS lore or literature. This is not the thread for that.

>>
>>98822245
These minis are the culmination of the 6th to 8th edition design philosophies. Yes, they are not Age of Sigmar minis. GW has come a long way, especially when it comes to making thin parts like spears, but it's just pure conzoomerism to think these minis don't look adequate or better in a rank and flank game.
>>
>>98822603
Immediately undermining my point is the fact that the spearmen are actually from 4th edition and not present in the photo above. Regardless, ad hominem - I may be retarded but my point remains. A block of spearmen would be fine on this table.

>I also think it's super boring that my dark elf army only has dark elves in it too
Unironically this, even dark eldar have those weird animal slaves like the snake men, I think dark elves would be cool if they had some kind of external subfaction. The slaanesh stuff was nice for its time I guess now that I’m thinking about it. As for wood elves in dark elves, eh. Last I checked the treants and dryads pretty much already wanted to tear wood elves a new one. So that doesn’t work, they barely work with themselves.

Love that guys videos. I watch his YouTube shorts and that’s what I used to decide on what contrast paints I’ll get. I’m extremely excited to use cygor brown. I got gulliman flesh too so I’m thinking of using them both on the same ogre since I imagine the contrast between light skin and dark fur will look good. Side note: as a new fag I hear a lot of people shitting on contrasts paints. Is there any actual downsides to contrasts or is it just standard fa/tg/uy grumbling. First off, I think it's very important to be respectful of all paint jobs because this hobby is a very small community and it takes a ton of labor to get any paint on a mini at all. Even just a basecoated mini is something that I adore and respect you for.

That said, I don't like contrast paint the same way I don't like stormcast. I had an initial knee jerk reaction to hate on them and the people who used them extensively, then I ended up having some fall into my hands and got familiar with them, and now I think they have a niche that they can really be quite lovely in but I also have some pretty legitimate gripes about them. Some people are stuck at that first stage, and are dicks, so they'll naturally be dicks to you about your use of contrast paint. Contrasts also can do this thing when applied too thickly where they'll pool kind of randomly on flat surfaces and give a 'chewed bubblegum' look.

>>
>>98823399
Yeah in my limited experience contrasts work well for stuff that’s very uneven/jagged or stuff that you want to have a gradient. I tried it on a flag and it worked ok but not really great.personally I like the finer control of standard basecoat and layer paints but contrasts can be fun for doing certain patterns.
>>
>>98823447
Contrasts are like very thick ink, which means they have very nice intensity but they don't stay where you put them and have poor coverage. They're really useful when thinned or airbrushed for tinting a mini that is already basecoated, which is why they recommend putting it over a sort of matching tone colored primer.
>>
>>98823459
>poor coverage
Depends on the contrast imo. I use contrasts mostly for my base coats and inking combined

there are levels to waacfaggotry. its not just one thing

the lowest level, which takes effort not to end up in for most players, is just a player who cares about what is currently strong in the game and builds their list around it

the next level is players who look for rules exploits or wonky janky interactions that are technically legal but dubious or obviously cheese. if you ever feel like you are about to push your glasses up and "ummm ackschtually" somebody mid game, you might be in this level.

the level beyond that is actively looking for gotchas to disqualify your opponent during an event. very few people fall into this category because it requires extremely high levels of game knowledge but equally high levels of malicious intent and unsportsmanlike attitude, so it is not common outside of high level tournaments, and frankly pretty rare in aos all together, more found in the 40k scene where there are actual stakes like prize pools and team sponsorships. people in this category will often look for things like incorrectly modeled wargear or improper base sizes and attack those as a means for disqualifying their opponent.

the final level is outright cheating. either knowingly fudging rules, mismeasuring things or nudging extra inches on movement, or even going as far as to bring loaded dice or knock dice rolls. this is actually more common than the previous levels, because it requires less game knowledge and is less confrontational, but also carries the highest consequences, and cheaters who get caught are usually ostracized from the hobby entirely.
>>
>>98823655
>The whole Malign Portents deal is not winning
You're moving more goalposts than Sigmar himself.
>>
>>98823670
and i would add onto that, the first level should carry no stigma UNLESS your opponent is a brand new player learning the game or the opponent has explicitly expressed a desire to play a more relaxed casual game. if either of those things are true and you still bring a sweatlord list, then it becomes a problem.
>>
>>98823679

I don't into warhammer, how does age of sigmar differ from the normal warhammer setting, is it like a different time period, or is it a different continuity entirely?

How do the seraphon differ from normal warhammer lizardmen? Both lore wise and visually. Are there multiple generations of seraphon figures the same way there are for the lizardmen and slaan or whatever, where each one has a different set of visual design elements?

>>
>>98823836
>is it like a different time period

several thousand years, multiple apocalypses, and one planet explosion after warhammer fantasy, yes.

>or is it a different continuity entirely?

same continuity, just much later in the timeline, in a psuedo magical solar system of elemental planes. if you are familiar at all with dungeons and dragons planar cosmology, its somewhat similar to that

>How do the seraphon differ from normal warhammer lizardmen?

literally the same guys. when the world exploded they got on pyramid space ships stargate style, left the planet, and in the age of sigmar have re-entered the world by landing their ships and spawning new populations of lizardfolk. temporarily used summoned construct lizardmen to fill the gap till new spawning pools were completed. some of the old characters like lord kroak are even still around.
>>
>>98823836
Warhammer Fantasy, or Warhammer the old world as it is now known, is a rank and flank game (square based models that are in a block formation) set in what is basically a fantasy version of earth. There's, like, elves and Lizardmen, but there's also armies that are just Chinese people with kites and dragons.

Age of Sigmar is the rebooted setting, and is played in skirmish formation (circular bases that don't have to be locked into rows). Its setting is likewise less restrictive, and it takes place in a more fantastic world made after an apocalypse destroyed the old world.

The Lizardmen are canonically the same species, with them getting loaded up onto flying ziggurats and beamed into the new world. It's been thousands of years though, so only a few of the characters (like the mummified lich Lord Kroak) are still around.

Warhammer's fantasy setting performed financially poorly so it was rebooted in 2015 as Age of Sigmar. Age of sigmar has some major differences in design philosophy and lore as well as many units that became unsupported by the rules, so there were always a group of people who original Warhammer back. In 2024 they started supporting the original format of the game as The Old World, set in a time period much before the age of sigmar happened.

Khorne also has some meso American influences in aos, but that’s mainly isolated in some hero’s/an underworlds warband.

Daemon prince, whatever tzeentch units we can steal, furies and raptoryx. And belakor and archaon.

I think raptoryx and furies compete for the same space and aren't very good, but it's nice that there's options for cheap and thematic flying monkey units to round out an army. Furies can even get a chaos mark iirc.

I love how AoS gave in-lore political/philosphical/religious beef between their dragon civilizations.
Stardrakes and Dracoths are original azyrite Dracothion's spawn, culture of monks and sages, practically more elementals than physucal beings, who regect materialism
While Draconith rejected these ideals, and formed a cukture of ambitious sorcerers and warriors, who migrated down to Ghur to conquer land and revel in the material riches, turning into more flesh-and blood creatures.
Stardrakes were dissaproving so hard, that They didn't even helped Draconith when they were genocided by Kragnos' rampage, because they thought this fall was entirely self-inflicted by their avirice and bloodlust. Meanwhile surviving Draconith were convinced that Stardrakes are haughty and arrogant traitors.
And now they're forced to work under one sigmarite banner after Krondys signed Decree Draconis. Must be extremely awkward

Is Ignus Sharn's neck piece inside his coat collar supposed to be his skin or part of the shirt? I honestly can't tell.
>>
>>98824237
looks like it's the same colour as his gloves so i assume leather but could be painted either way
>>
>>98824274
I figured skin since there doesn't appear to be like shirt neck wrinkles on the model up close. The gloves are more leathery colored.
>>
>>98824237
you can actually see just the tiniest sliver of where the undershirts collar line is just above the vests top button, so i would think its meant to just be skin
>>
>>98824237
Definitely his collar. Too thick to be a beck and doesn't have "throat sculpting", like the noticable V and Adam's Apple.

>I don't into warhammer, how does age of sigmar differ from the normal warhammer setting
Age of Sigmar is the normal Warhammer setting. It is the original Warhammer timeline, which has advanced into a postapocalyptic high-fantasy age. The Old World, as the name implies, is the "Horus Heresy" equivalent for Warhammer fantasy, a specialist game delving into the lower-fantasy pre-apocalypse history of the setting using primarily rereleases of squatted minis.

All the fantasy lizardmen went into space, then they all died except for the Slann. The Slann can dream the lizardmen back into existence for battles.
Sometimes the dreams stick around and become real again. Or something.

Who's that Seraphon?!
>>
>>98823836
Holy shit mesoamericanon, how are you still here? I checked /his/ the other day and it was even more a shithole than I remember.
Seraphon are one of a handful of armies to make the transition from warhammer fantasy to age of sigmar largely unscathed. They had a brief period where they were like crazy celestial order daemons, but nowadays they basically function the same as lizardmen did back in the day.
For most of aos' history the seraphon were just using the same lizardmen miniatures as whfb, so visually too nothing changed. However a couple years back (2022 or so) a big part of the range got refreshed, so now it's a mix of older whfb miniatures and very modern ones.
The new miniatures didn't really change much about the general aesthetic though. I guess the newer ones are slightly more "ancient aliens magitek bullshit" and slightly less "primal" but it's only a slight shift all things considered.

>>98824104
I can assure you, gw isn't thinking about stuff like that at all.
the draconith are unrelated to the stardrakes because the draconith are a separate wave of models and stardrakes are on the chopping block, and they didn't help them out because lizards had to because kroak was getting released at the same time

I wouldn't think to hard about it since the baseline chorf mechanics are just sort of dogshit. The only decent way to play them is with Taar's Grand Forgehost, which straight up cuts your list building options in half.
