>Official MP scale might be kill

If MPG merger shrinks the general scale that Takara releases their "high end" stuff in then the 3P G1 character wars will probably get out of hand. Again.
>>
>>10947909
Starting with Waspinator was a bad idea, the character is a meme, I don't think anyone actually wants to spend big money on the character.
>>
>>10948034
At this point the 3P MP lines are self-sufficient, anyway. But holy shit does it make it seem like even Takara thinks MP scale combiners are a bad idea.
>>
>>10948034
Aren't the MPGs basically CHUG scale? I'm sure plenty of people would like to see chug scale MPs.
>>
My best guess is because housing in Japan is smaller so they don't have the room for large scale combiners.
>>
>>10948083
If that were the case, I don't think we'd have Japanese collectors. These chunks of plastic regardless of how much space they take demand shelves and detolfs, which will take up a good state of a room.
>>
>>10948089
still, there's a huge amount of difference between the size of the chogokin lines, for example, and the size creep of the MP line.
It's a tall order(literally) to devote space and money to a 12'' tall C-lister from Transformers when a main mecha from a mecha series may have a 9'' figure, tops. There's a reason why a lot of the surplus mecha designs in JP series are done with cheaper, smaller lines.

3Ps attempting MP combiners will be taken as the highpoint of decadence in a few years. The fact that we got to a point where we could get people dedicating so much space to B-listers to make a giant, barely poseable robot -8 times over. We were in one hell of an era.
You can tell FT/XTB were planning all these combiners when they could sell each limb for around $100.

>>10952279
Complexity is more of a subjective thing, you either like it or you don't. Mind you, there are brainlets out there that NEED instructions or they just can't figure out a transformer. What I think is worse is when something is unintuitive.

A tf that explodes into spaghetti with confusing tabs and ports, unnecessary steps and/or extra parts that really don't need to exist, and terrible clearances will never be a fun one to play with
>>
>>10952516
>will never be a fun one to play with
As far as transformation goes
>>
>>10952522
Well, true, but ideally every part of the figure should be considered in the design.
Transformations are what makes them... y'know, transformers. If you flub the transformation and the alt mode then that's a huge chunk of the toy immediately down the shitter, at which point you're better off just getting something from another line.
>>
>>10952529
If both alt and robot mode are great and the transformation is complex but still enjoyable then it is good, no?
Complex doesn’t necessarily mean bad
>>
>>10952545
For instance, I actually enjoyed deformation spaces seekers even though tolerances are tight in some parts
But I guess I’m just not as easily frustrated as a lot of reviewers are
>>
>>10952545
That requires it to be enjoyable.
>>
>>10952545
Of course, I never said complexity is inherently bad. In fact I prefer it to something being simple. My point was that it just has to be well designed.

Def space seekers are like 50% good and 50% mess of floppy bits and bad clearances, they're not really something I'd ever pick up and play with but it could be worse
>>
>>10952272
You're not in a position to suggest anything to anyone dumbdumb.
>>10952279
Complexity isn't an issue. Unnecessary complexity is. And if you can't see how Inquisitor's transformation is 90% useless steps that could have been replaced by like 3 parts moving differently, then thank God you're not an engineer.
>>

>>10953934
They can be posed pointing upward, there's an axial swivel at the base of each spider leg.
I have them pointing forward simply because he was in storage in his original packaging (most of my TF are in crates right now) and that's how he's positioned when packaged.

The answer you're looking for is "no". Your best bet is to hope for someone to release a kit fixing the arms of the official if that's your problem with the figure or for some "new" company (TE/DS/etc. style) to announce one out of nowhere.

That's still oversized for scaling to the normal transformers, even in MP sizes.

It might work for MP-01, but that's pushing it, most of the beast era characters should be the size of iron factory or Dr wu micro bots next to MP Autobots to be in scale.

They wouldn't touch such a big character that has an official version so close to its release.

Maybe in 5 years or something but right now, there's absolutely no way they'll join the war.

I love my Lucky Cat BB, but I would happily buy this one too if it’s as good or better.

This is from Robot Toys by the way, the same company that did the new BW Primal and Megatron. I guess it’s Metagate but they rebranded their legends line. And in addition to this Bumblebee, Cheetor is in the pipeline as well.
>>
>>10954178

That looks like shit.

My ideal outcome would be a special edition based on the 86 movie where you have two versions of Unicron, one in robot mode and the other in planet mode, both non-transforming, just as long as they're cartoon accurate!!!FACT!!!

>>
>>10954653
Pumpkin IS more accurate to the movie though, and just general depictions of G1 unicron
The grey could serve to be a little blue tinted but it's still more accurate than cell, which seems to be deliberately copying the haslab colors
>>
>>10954909
I thought Pumpkin is modeled after the planet mode and Cell is the robot mode
I think it'd feel most right to me with Pumpkin's greys and Cell's yellow tinge. It might not be 1:1 accurate but I think of Unicron more yellow-orange and grey. I guess the animation color version comes closest to what I see as right.

There's so many design decisions that are just baffling.
>Changing Grimlocks legs from the square reverse jointed ones to just ripping off GPO3's. No transformation so you still have human legs in dino mode.
>Copying the concept dino head but neglecting to have the teeth properly interlock when closed. Also aesthetically clashes with all of the new parts
>Having the sword form a stiff straight tail instead of having a flexible tail that the sword plugs into the tip of.
>Hip skirts for no reason
>completely missing the boosters and stored weapons
>Having separate kibble Dino arms instead of having the robot ones transform
>>10959271
The concept art is actually way easier to engineer than the final versions. Grimlock's doesn't even transform from the waist down but still looks way better than what we got.

>overly detailed dino head that clashes with both art styles
>Spino crest on the robot head removed. Now taking cues from Vigna Ghina for some reason.
>Gundam legs ruining the Dino mode again. Originals were bigger but alleviated this by having the Shin and thigh plates shift up to reveal the frame underneath
>splayed triple toes technically more accurate to the dinosaur, but the square parallel toes match better and are the proper size.
>completely removing the clever transformation of having the arms fold to make the back and the red sections of the chest opening up to form the dino sub-arms
>Curved shoulder pads no longer match the chest
>Spinosaurus sail turned into stegosaurus plates. Weapons no longer apart of transformation.

Jizai can't monetize Transformers designs freely since he's in Japan and the fandom would narc on him. This weak ass argument again? Considering some of the shit we've seen out of 3rd party in the past few years, please tell me what about the concept art was so impossible to translate into physical form that they needed to change THE ENTIRE FUCKING AESTHETIC? Or are you that fucking blind that you think there is any similarity between the concept and what we're actually getting?

I got the V3 from TFSafari
So like, I know it's a oversize so things pegging in during the engineering part of production would only be factored for the original smaller one, so I'm fine the back barely stays in place, I expected that. I saw reviews for the V1 where the arm broke off and I don't see how they could fix it without remolding it.
Arm seems fine on V3, but like, is there really no way to peg the torso into the pelvis? It's just gonna flop backwards forever if I move it back slightly huh. I guess on the original it was small enough that friction could hold it in place.
Oh well!

This has never been about G1 vs Movie. Toon Menasor is being used as an example that set precedent for combiners being simply colored. I bet if DST Superion was G1 colored he would get shit for looking even more visually busy. Silver looks good on the jets, and unifies all the combined parts.

It's just the new core. They're releasing a Shattered Glass variant of the full thing that comes with the new core robot, so they're also releasing an original-colored version of the core for those that already have the original color of the big guy.
>>
>>10961880
Oh, nice. I'll have to pick that up, then. For some random reason, the foot on the lil' dude in mine crack in half, down the middle. Have no idea how or why that happened, but he's been footless for a while. Having a new core dude without having to rebuy the whole thing will be good for me.

Alt mode looks so dumb. Think I'll just go toonfag and keep leaving the original cab empty. Maybe if the new core's altmode was shorter but taller so it more evoked a truck cab instead of looking like a minivan towing an oversized camper... 'cause it's fine on its own, but with the trailer it all goes to hell.
Also I realize that I can't tell where those long panels that end up on the large robot's back go in the core's robot mode. Confusion ensues

>>10962694
The panels are apart of Magnus's back.
>>
>>10962793
they're not part of the original figure though. they're part of the new core. but I can't figure out where they go in it's robot mode. I see them in altmode and on the combined back, but not there.
>>
>>10962809
I'm assuming they attach to the filler core, then extend out of the trailer to "dock" with the cab. I wouldn't be surprised if its partsforming and not technically apart of the truck at all.

Holly shit this looks good. BeetleBee has honestly gotten some of the most impressive 3P figures out of any character in history. UT’s MPM bots are black magic in their own right, but pulling this trick off at Legends scale seems to require another level of cleverness. Lucky Cat’s BB was already peak, and this one somehow surpasses that to a pretty large degree.

The final blow in the competition is that the vehicle mode is much cleaner than Lucky Cat’s, which is covered in protruding joints. At the time I was happy to excuse it because of how small/complex it is, but it’s hard to deny that Robot Toys has them beat hands down.

Haiku (the base mold) is a nice figure if you don’t mind limited hip articulation and a rather complex transformation. So if you like the look of the white/gold one, go for it.
>>
>>10962994
How limited is the articulation.
>>
>>10962857
Despite ordering them for like two years now I think, I've always only done guest checkout
>>
>>10962814
actually, looking at it, it's absolutely partsforming. it's gotta be that "option frame" thing. looking closely at the altmode pic, those panels aren't attached to the trailer at all.
looks like you attach the new robot by taking out the screw that holds the original cab in place - there's a hinge there that the base figure can only use to get clearance for stuff in transformation, since once transformed the original cab is flush and tabs up into the biceps.
>>
>>10963010
Oh the original the legs have a baked-in A stance, and you can't really get him to swing his legs directly forward. The articulation is fine otherwise though.
