With how he's depicted just sitting there I'd be fine with a battle feature figure that has articulated arms and head swing action. They can detach the sword like Tyranitar's tail.

Exactly. Some people have the absolute worst ideas for figures that should be in each line. A pokemon that is perpetually sitting on its ass? Oh let's put it in the super articulated line!

I agree. Make it a 4.5", detach the sword in the package, and the battle feature can be a wheel on the bottom that allows it to roll when pulled back or something.

Craigslist acquisition today, $10. Lots of yellowing and some minor scuffs, but otherwise great condition.

Do I look for whitening options, or pay for a professional-level figure painting?

Neither. Get him cleaned up, then keep it as is! Scuffs and stuff give those older toys more character.
>>

>>
>>10951017
I'm very confused.
>Lots of yellowing and some minor scuffs
>but otherwise great condition.
Sooooo its the opposite of great condition.

>whitening options
That's plastic itself that's changing due to discoloration from UV light most likely. There's no fixing that.

>professional-level figure painting
It'll cost you nearly as much as it would to just buy one in good condition. This makes no sense. Since you clearly want the figure, just keep an eye on Ebay for one that goes for whatever you're willing to pay for it. There's one on Ebay right now for $100 OBO, no discoloration and in actual good condition.
>>
>>10951324
Have you never seen figure whitening with hydrogen peroxide? Works wonders on various action figures, but I'm not sure this plastic would react similarly.
>>
>>10951331
That's for more subtle yellowing though, and typically after disassembling the figure so other painted or non-white parts don't get put in the mixture. An electronic Lugia with internal electronics and parts that can't be disassembled without damaging the figure is the opposite of what kind of figure you'd want to do that with.

Tamashii effects would probably be good, especially the bootlegs from Aliexpress since they made them in a bunch of colors Bandai didn't.
>>
>>10951349
It appears pretty easy to disassemble, lots of screws in easily accessible places. I need to buy a new small screwdriver set, but I think it's worth a shot. Yes the yellowing isn't subtle, but I imagine it could bring it back to more pleasant colors at the least. For $10, it's worth a try.
>>
>>10951421
I think you're severely under estimating how much you can disassemble. We'll let you attempt it and see for yourself that you can't separate what you need to. Good luck.
>>
>>10951805
You mean overestimating you dumb, pretentious, ass?
>>
why is jazwares distribution so shit? why can’t they just announce a date for their products to come out?
>>
>>10951934
NTA and yeah that guy used the wrong word but if you are the one who really thinks trying to disassemble, clean, and re-assemble that super busted looking Lugia or paying someone to paint it then I think someone else is the dumb one.
>>
>>10952423
Hardly any toy companies can accurately product the exact date product will be on shelves. That's ridiculous to expect that. Not unless it's a massive movie product push and things are street dated and waiting in the retailer back rooms.
>>
So which future Paradox would make the best action figure? Or just any Paradox in general.
>>
>>10951352
Nendoroid effects. I've bought so many nendo effects from splits for posing with my Pokemon. Tamashii also rereleased some of their effects recently so they've come down in price.
>>
>>10953106
It doesn't seem like we'll get any Paradoxes but if any future one I think Iron Valiant would work the best. For the others it just seems like it would be better to get the regular Pokemon forms instead of the Paradox forms which will be pretty irrelevant by the time any figures were to come out.

No. We just got Misdreavus which is so similar to Flutter Mane, and I think most would agree a regular Delibird is more in demand than Iron Bundle. These are all super gimmicky and I bet nobody will care about them once the next generation rolls around. They've hardly made and non Paradox Palda figs yet so I'd rather they get on that train and make more of those instead of Paradoxes

Can confirm that Tamashii Effects are a solid choice. The bootlegs are pretty good too, the only issue is that they're made from a hard plastic so pieces that can be attached to figures like the small flame parts need to be heated up first.

TPC has no excuse, but Jazwares kind of does. TPCi is so afraid of leaks that they don't send shit to companies. Even if the designs were officially revealed I doubt anything was specifically sent or even approved to be made yet. Working with TPCi on Pokemon is very different than many other IPs.

they have a good reason to. Imagine if something leaked a month or a week early. Then _________________________________________________________________________ would happen and we can't have that!
>>
>>10959598
TPCi has internal leaks they should worry more about than their IP partners that would more than likely be extremely careful so as to not ruin the relationship. They sacrifice brand synergy for basically nothing because things leak anyways.
>>
>>10959600
my point was more that policiing that hard for leaks is absolutely retarded in the first place
>>
>>10959601
Ya I got that, I was just following up the idea that what they're doing isn't working anyways, so all it's doing is hurting them. Just because Pokemon is such a profitable IP doesn't mean it couldn't be even more. How long since S/V even came out and all we've seen as toys is mostly first stage Pokemon, and barely at that. If there were toys on shelves of the Pokemon on shelves as people were first playing the game I'm sure the toys would have had a nice boost, plus increasing general popularity and awareness.
>>
>>10959630
Pokemon is still the biggest and most profitable IP in the world. They literally don't give a shit if nerds have to wait an extra year for merch from current Pokemon games. They'd rather protect things from leaking and I don't blame them.
>>
>>10959839
>They'd rather protect things from leaking and I don't blame them.

Why? Give even a single good reason.
>>
>>10959841
Are you dumb? Because it's always better to officially reveal new Pokemon on their own terms rather than have factory workers or freelancers for licensees leak stuff from TPCI before they officially do. If you don't understand how it's better to officially reveal things on their own terms, professionally, in a good light and accurately, I don't know what to say.
>>
>>10959849

This is what I despise of Selects figures, because the prioritize accuracy over articulation. Shodo figures can do both, what's stopping Selects?
>>
>>10959891
It's also weird how some figures will have joints that look like they move more, but they're very stiff. Samurott's limbs look like they can do a 360, but the limb for some reason stops at a short angle.
>>
>>10959891
No, Shodo are not really a fair comparison. They are much smaller and are not expected to have nearly the same level of articulation. The ppl at Jaz just aren't skilled enough to design stuff well. Or not the Pokemon team anyway. Many of their other lines have had no articulation or design issues at all. But hey, maybe it's too much to expect figures that are actually made well when the brand manager has flat out admitted he had no skill and no business getting the job he got. How can you expect good work to come from anyone working under a person like that?

the shortos are worse in plastic quality and friction, and they have those outdated one-sided elbows. On the other hand, the NEW plamos are comparably limited in articulation in favor of pre-posed parts like Greninja's feet and Gardevoir's arms, all for the sake of sleekness

>>
>>10966265
As someone that owns it, it's a nice figure if you like the mon. Definitely worth getting. He's likely just upset about them making him "too tall".
>>
>>10966278
I've seen posts about its head barely moves, no swivels in the arms, limited legs, and more, on top of the fact that its giant. It just doesn't have well designed articulation for what it should be able to do. Good that you like it but it seems to be in the objectively bad territory along with a few other pokemon from the line.
>>
>>10966278
You must have insanely low standards if you own it and still can't see how bad it is. Beyond just the size which is horrible how much taller than every other figure in the line it is

>>10966305
Like he says, the articulation is just pretty awful on it. Everything has bad range as is the norm with many of these select figures, but the arms are especially bad. No bicep cut makes posing the arms looking good almost impossible and the fingers have horrible range too. Forget wanting to get Tox into a pose like the 4.5" figure or in any convincing pose.
>>
>>10966278
>>10966305
I don't mind the height, I never really cred too much for scale or accuracy, I do care for articulation though. I haven't seen a good review of yet since it seems tough to find, but I will consider getting it.
>>
>>10966347
weird since he seems so lanky, he looks like he would pose well. I mean, anything is better than Tyranitar, but if he's just as bad as Ttar, then idk.
>>
>>10966352
>but if he's just as bad as Ttar, then idk.
Worse for different reasons. For Ttar, due to the design of the Pokemon and chunkiness of the limbs, there just wasn't range they could have given it.

For Tox, they just did a shit job making the figure. The arms and hands are just horrible for a character that uses its arms to display its abilities. Those sausage fingers basically stay flat like a baseball mitt, and the double hinge elbow with no bicep cut is something you usually only see with dollar store-tier figures or from companies that have never made any product before.
>>
>>10966361
damn, that bad? might have to reconsider then, that is if I can find it. I was lucky to find Flygon.

>due to the design of the Pokemon, there just wasn't range they could have given it.
Also that's not true, cause Shodo was able to give it a waist cut. It poses much better than the Selects.
>>
>>10966394
Shodo has the better torso articulation for sure. But that's why I specified "limbs". The Jazwares Ttar does as best as one can expect in terms of the arms and legs. I'm not sure how people could expect any better.
>>
>>10965286
>with unusually bad paint
But that's Jazwares right now!
>>
>>10966427
They usually have 'bad' paint, not 'unusually bad' paint.

On a serious note quite a few still have really bad paint, but I think it's safe to say that for most Pokemon figures the paints are mostly acceptable nowadays. The last one that was a massive issue for me was Electabuzz and Magmar. Had to go through so many of them.
>>
>>10966830
Alakazam eyes were misaligned on almost every one I saw in person and online. But those are widespread issues. I think anon above was talking more about sloppy paint across all 2" and 3" figures that is still a big problem and very inconsistent in general
>>
>>10966898
It's not just paint, assembly is even pretty shit too. Likje large gaps between the pieces they glued together.
I can easily say to pull them apart and reglue, but I know I'd destroy the figure more in the process as it'd require a lot of prying.
>>
Got scale world skeledirge in the mail today. It's A LOT smaller than I was expecting.
>>
>>10967069
It's Scale World. First figure?
>>
>>10965286
Honest question - how does this even happen? With other series I buy stuff from, like Transformers, it's instantly obvious because they're always called some shit like EARTH TUTELARY SUPAR DEFORMATOR, so how come these bootlegs manage not to have any clear ways of telling they're fakes outside of the paint? Is the company making them just THAT good at imitating the real deal?
>>
>>10967156
Pretty much, ya. Theres also some Moncolle bootlegs that at a glance really look like the real deal.
>>
>>10967156
With smaller less detailed stuff like the small Pokemon figures it can be hard to tell with how simple they are. Take something like Ditto, the bootleg of the Tomy one would basically look like a legit one if you were to take it out of the package and mix it with some legit figures.

Picked these up at Macys the other day! Feels good not having to hunt them for weeks like they had us doing just a year ago.
>>
>>10967117
No, I have several scale worlds. Maybe its not small, Feraligatr is just freakishly big. I was expecting it to be pretty bulky because of this pic.
>>
>>10967318
I mean, its appropriately sized according to the dex length. Skeledirge is long, but not thick or tall.

>>10967156
The retailers like Five Below, Ross, and Marshalls are probably just ordering that first WCT Alola wave through one of the many suppliers on AliExpress. Like the other person above said, these small unarticulated pvc figs are super simple to reproduce. They just make molds of the official figures and crank out duplicates. Packaging is a piece of cake to fake too. Dirt cheap prices and stupid retailer buyers and you have stores like these that stock these bootlegs on the shelves. Five Below is also still getting bootleg Tomy Clip Go Pokeballs. The official figs of those were released way back in like 2016 or something, yet they've continued to stock bootlegs up to this day

Walmart/Target in MO. Starting to roll out.
>>
>>10967156
IIRC the pokemon figures were originally made by a company called WCT, before they got acquired by Jazwares. WCT was a small company so they couldnt afford to do their own manufacturing, so they contracted some random factories who then produced additional products to sell as "bootlegs." So basically the bootlegs are sold by the guys who originally made the first couple of figures
>>
>>10967631
Strange that TPCi trusted said small company. WCT didn't really have much of note, and Tomy USA was already doing great to some degree. Some later figures would get gummy, but they always had a set plan every year, up until the best quality final evo starters
>>
What happened to Entei though.
>>
>>10967638
It's because the company was small enough that they bought a stake in it and so would be on the board. At the time we assumed this would help products get out quicker with what's happening in media and games, and maybe it did, but all I remember is the massive dip in quality from Tomy. I still think that Tomy's 5" Pokemon were probably the best combination of price, size, and articulation. They weren't all to scale, but they were still fun like Snorlax. Also the whole line felt coherent, like this 5" line was still a part of their scale 2" and 3" lines, unlike what the Selects of today feel like.

I'm sure they're both great people, but I think what the Pokemon line most needs is a new brand manager who's more in tune with what Pokemon figure collectors want, and from there other changes like designers or even design styles would be implemented (because surely this current guy can do a better job at articulation than he's done, unless it really is TPCi being so strict about aesthetics).
>>
>>10967801
Taking feedback is a continuous process but I will give them props for making the Select line to begin with. The common complaint regarding the battle feature figures was that people wanted them to be bigger and would prefer regular articulation over the gimmicks, which we got with the Selects. I think the term "super articulated" is a bit misleading though. They're simply 6" figures with some articulation where it makes sense. The word "super" sets expectations higher.

The one thing I have to call them out on is the Selects being non scaled. Like obviously it won't scale with the main line cause there's already 2 Charizards, Garchomps etc but at least scale with the Selects themselves. If their kids line is scale conscious why wouldn't their collector line be? Of course collectors would care about that too, its a no brainer.

Thoughts on Pokémon gachapon?
>>
>>10969705
Like Rement and stuff? They're good for certain mons that wont get anything better
>>
>>10967597
No Entei?
>>
The last time I checked Gamestop Canada they were still carrying Suicune and ttar, are they going to skip a wave at this point when they stock new ones? TRU also seems to have bumped the price on a few Pokemon things which is unfortunate.
>>
>>10970892
the toys r us near me only has raikou
>>
>>10971444
It was the same at mine. Feels like the Samurott of that wave.
>>
>>10971832
Same, I seem more Raikou around. Seems its less popular but also not as good as the Suicune figure. Unfortunately Suicune already had a lot of problems. Entei looks like the most problematic of he trio, but it looks like the US skipped that Garchomp&Entei wave
>>
>Got my slowpoke
>Teeth aren't white
T-Thanks Jazwares.. At least this is an easy DIY fix.
>>
I fucking hate Jazwares. TPC should give the license to a company that can actually get their products on store shelves.
>>
>>10973319
Have you checked the Target and Gamestop ,com?
>>
>>10973363
NTA but only a select few items get put online. How many of the last 2 pack, 3 pack and Clip & Go waves have but put online for US customers? Like maybe 2-3 each out of the last 10 waves.
>>
>>10973400
Clip n Go should be ignored, and the latest packs (with Slowpoke, A Marowak, Monferno) are on Gamestop. The latter, you have a point because of their lousy $75 free shipping minimum
>>
months ago someone mentioned they wanted to make a custom cynthia using the PuP head, did they ever get round to that?
>>
>>10973414
>Clip n Go should be ignored
Why? What if I want some of them? They are sometimes the only way to get specific figures

>and the latest packs are on Gamestop
That's not the latest wave. The latest wave with the one with Weavile, Butterfree and Primeape

My earlier point still stands. Hardly any of the last 10 or so waves of each line have been available online for US customers. Most stores are just so hit or miss and unreliable that it's almost always a waste of time hunting

Hey 4chan, here's the updated checklist for April! Nearly everything on here has been released now. Just Caterpie and the three 2" figures after it, plus Heracross left. Looking forward to finding out about new waves soon.
>>
>>10973487
>Why? What if I want some of them? They are sometimes the only way to get specific figures
and now youve wasted money becayse you're stuck with a bunch of useless and worse quality balls you'll have to throw away or donut
>That's not the latest wave. The latest wave with the one with Weavile, Butterfree and Primeape
ah then it really must be a regional issue, I hope you get them soon. Maybe you can explore unexpected stores like Cracker Barrel or Barnes and Noble.
>>
>>10973548
Thanks checklist guy! I love seeing these each month.

>>10973579
You aren't helping that other person at all. They specifically asked about things being available online. How is telling them to check random stores in person, where we know these waves are not even sold, helpful at all?

Mini haul from a recent trip. I've been wanting the Tomy Clefs in particular for awhile now.
>>
>>10973603
Just a reminder that physical stores still exist in this modern online-dependent world. You just can't depend on online forever
>>
>>10973487
>Clip n Go
Nta but if you're going to be around for the long run its a good idea to avoid them. Things get repacked constantly and at some point it'll feel really bad when there's a 2 pack that has a new figure and a repack of one you previously bought with a ball.
>>
>>10973657
Wow, I'm sure he had no idea there were still physical stores. Thanks so much for the helpful advice!

>>10973487
>Most stores are just so hit or miss and unreliable that it's almost always a waste of time hunting
>>
>>10973548
Thanks checklist anon. With Ralts there I'm guessing some kind of Gardevoir is on the way. It didn't take long for Primape and Bisharp to join their first stages.
>>
>>10973745
>Gardevoir
Feels like a good option for a 4.5" figure. It doesn't need much articulation aside from maybe at the shoulders and pivoting head. A simple twist and fling action feature like Mewtwo or Alakazam would be fine too.
>>
which cinderace would scale best with figma gloria? And which one's articulation is best? I've seen two model kits and one with like a kick battle feature
>>
>>10973752
Yea pretty much. Also kinda related, is Heracross just a normally articulated figure? I saw some images of its back and I don' think there was an action feature.
>>
>>10973765
You bend it forward at its legs and it snaps back up. Someone one the discord posted a video a week or two ago. At least the arm articulation won't be affected.
>>
>>10973755
There's a second model kit? And the Jazwares doesn't cut it by the way
>>
>>10970892
Why the fuck hasn't canada got Alakazam, Metagross or select Flygon yet? What a stupid fucking country.
>>
>>10973971
Can't speak to Alakazam, but in the US Metagross has only been at a few physical Gamestop stores, and their site. Flygon just hit our Targets this week as well.
