do you guys go out of your way to buy old figuarts/D-arts or are you guys who buy only newish figs? the market on old figuarts is interesting. some fig prices are very sticky. Mega Man D-Arts do not drop in price. I've seen them go for these same prices for the past five years. Kingdom Hearst figuarts, the Soras go for a whole bunch. but Donald/Goofy can be had for more than retail but a more reasonable price.

They’re all right. Sometimes they shit the bed like with Guts and Zoro but the sculpts on those at least are pretty good. I think there’s been a bit of a quality drop with things like their DB lines where they know their audience will just buy anything.

same, for the Juppongatana I want Anji, Usui, Chou, Kamatari, a non in scale Fuji with armor, Yumi... Henya looks cool but I doubt there is a way to make his wings functional. Also the rest of the Oniwabanshuu including Okina, not sure if someone want the Rokunin no Doshi other than Enishi, Gein is my favorite and I kind of like Banjin but not sure if the plan to go that far.

Actually really excited for him. A little barebones in terms of accessories, but he looks like he's kind of like Chainsaw Man in that he's an affordable, well-constructed figure that just seems like it'll pose well and isn't too finicky to handle.
(Kinda wish I had teal electricity effects parts to put on him. I mean, I have Amazing Yamaguchi Deku's green ones, but that's not quite the same, I think? Maybe it'll work, though. That'd be neat.
I wish they'd given him a glowing eyes head, like they did for the Metal Robot Spirits Ironblooded Orphans Gundam releases. That'd be pretty fucking neat.

As long as they're Figuarts that came out after Kamen Rider Gaim which is in 2014 then they're fine to get as long as the price is reasonable, anything older and I'm not interested. The difference in sculpting and engineering between Figuarts pre-2014 and post-2014 is quite significant. The only Figuarts I have that came out before 2014 was Barnaby Brooks and he doesn't hold up compared to modern Figuarts. Never look back on them ever again.

I'm actually not sure what exactly is wrong with it. I have a cloud too and he had pretty much the exact same issues and I had to file away some corners to make the legs stop popping out. So the moment I saw the berserk armor also having problem with the legs I just switched them out and haven't touched it ever since. Again I thought it just didn't have the range or something and thats why you got 2 pairs of legs.

Well, in most Heat of Passion reviews I've seen, people struggled to put on the static legs without heating them up because it was so tight. Maybe it's the opposite for you and the normal legs offer too little friction where they slot in, and the static ones have just the right amount.
Regardless, you could pretty easily add back in the friction and use the normal legs, I think. With a piece of paper, or something.
The legs do have a great amount of range, nearly as much as the static ones, but they could never get an equal amount of range to static preposed molded together legs. The range on the poseable ones could probably be a smidge better if they really went for it, but as it is, it's pretty good. See picrel.

I got Heat of Passion Guts in today.
If he doesn't start gradually falling apart on me or getting stupidly loose, he might actually be my favorite figure in a long, long time.
So far, he handles really well, and his range is insane. Joints are by no means too loose, nor are they too stiff. Some of them are in the perfect center, and some lean closer to the loose-ish side, but not to the point of being a problem.

Okay, so the Ace is seemingly a potential SHF sculpted by Nagashio Kyou who's done almost exclusively Buzzmod figures until now. There's going to be some sort of contest on June 3rd to "decide the One Piece sculptor." My only issues are the flimsy jaw and spinning wrist from the big sword. Should have done the full armored head a closed mouth and an open mouth instead of hinged.

Looks like most of us were right about G5, his elbows and hips ruin the articulation. Arms should have been jointed- you don't really get anything extra out of bending the unstretched arms, the stretched ones are where all the fun comes from. The hips are just bizarre, he can hardly do the G5 pose. Haven't even seen how the rubber will degrade either. That being said he at least looks really good. Between the super expressive face plates and the stretched arms I've already seen some really fun photos online

I was being very heavy-handed with mine (trying to get the head to move as far as it can up and down. I got it further down than I have seen in any review), so the jaw came off like once or twice while I did that, but otherwise it's relatively stable. It also seems retard-friendly enough that it seems difficult to break even if you hamhand it. It's not the strongest connection, though.
And yeah, the wrist-spinning is a pity but not unexpected.
I actually plucked the sword from the tray after taking these pictures and found that the pommel was like hard-stuck inside of the handle, and when I heated it up and tried to get it loose, the peg tore inside of the hilt, so that's great. I hadn't seen that happen to anyone before. Luckily, I have the first Guts release so I can just give it that sword, but I decided against that too. I just gave him the bloodied sword from the Berserker Armor Figma repaint. It's not that much smaller.

The Zoukeiou Chojho (Modeling King) competition is a throwback to the ones done by Banpresto back in 2011 where they gave known and lesser known sculptors the chance to compete head to head for the chance of having their statue mass produced (under their SCultures/BIG line).

The competition was structured like a tournament, with different brackets and stages, with the winner decided by public vote.

It looks like they have included articulated figures this time, so will be exciting to see where this goes and if the do another one after. They held 4 tournaments last time over a few years.

It didn't hard break, but the two halves that click together fell apart, and once that initial friction is lost, it just keeps falling off. It was, funnily enough, not the sword holding hand either. I think the prime culprit was just the pressure on the joint caused by friction from the surrounding plastic. If it popped back together and held, it'd not be a problem, but once it comes loose, that's it... enjoy having to pop it back in every time you try to move it at all.
(Before it broke, I also gave mine the bloodied Figma Dragonslayer. It's why I wasn't so upset about the Figuarts Dragonslayer arriving with the pommel peg frozen inside of it and snapping when I tried to get it out. What I posted makes the joints thicker.
You do need to pop it out to be able to fully apply it on the joint and socket. I always apply it on both.
You apply it, and wait until it dries and becomes transparent. It creates a flexible silicone like layer. Given its flexible nature, it doesn't really crack over time. So it's better than super glue, more durable. I heat it up a tiny bit before putting everything back together. But yeah, you do need to pop everything out for it to work properly.

You're welcome, it's a good alternative, if it's too lose, just apply a more generous amount, but still, be careful. I applied it on hear of passion's shoulder joint and legs cause they felt kinda loose for my taste. The arm was loose and the heavy ass sword made it worse. But now, it's a lot better.

On my joint, when it popped apart, it looked like there was some sort of adhesive on it already. It had that whiteish sprinkled texture. I wonder if they already used something to try and add friction in the first place.

But I would try the method I mentioned just in case. Apply it on both socket and ball peg a bunch of times to make it thicker. Let it dry and re apply until you get the result you want, that's what I would do. Maybe it won't be super tight but I'm sure it will do something.

So I'm not the only one who had the idea of putting AY Deku's lightning on Kafka.
Looks pretty good. They're a little bit too green, but I think it's negligible. Not fond of that guy's pose, but whatever. I'd put it in a different one.

So AmiAmi is willing to replace my Heat of Passion Guts, which I'm really grateful for.
But since they want me to turn in the old one (which makes total sense), I'm absolutely shit-scared I'll just end up with a copy where the same arm, the other arm, or one or more of the legs has the same issues. Lol.
I'm still going to do it, of course. But I'm sad that such a cool figure with such a great range and sculpt breeds such concern in the first place.

Admittedly, not really. The problem with the arms is partway that they are too stiff, sure. But the biggest issue is that once the joint comes apart once, it just doesn't pop in proper anymore.
Whether the joint is too stiff or too smooth, that's kind of the whole fear. Some people did provide tips for what may be done to introduce enough friction for the joint to stay together again, but I'd rather avoid it altogether. I just wish I didn't have to feel so apprehensive in the first place.

From what I can tell, no, not great. Loose tail with ineffective articulation, ugly pits, heavy cape that makes posing harder, distinct lack of paint for an expensive figure, too small (excusable because 1/12 kaido would have to be fucking huge) and missing accessories (fire breath and thunder bagua) for something so pricy. That being said I've seen a ton of people super happy with him and I bet whatever shelf you manage to squeeze him into he's gonna have a ton of presence there

The Heat of Passion is really cool with a lot of range... but just seemingly one really big flaw in that the shoulders are inconsistent in their longevity.
And that's a fatal enough flaw for most people. Can't love and appreciate a figure, no matter how good it is, if one part of it can fall apart on you.

Only thing is the hips have that same rubbery material right? I think its what limits the range so much. Idk how you'd mod them without just changing them altogether. If it is rubber at the hips that just makes it all the stranger since it isnt even seamless there anyways, what do you gain over making them regular hips?
