With the recent rumblings going around regarding hasbro and disney split, toy industry insider Scott “Toy Guru” Neitlich (youtube: Spector Creative) recently posted a video discussing why Hasbro might be looking to get out of the toy making business. His video regarding the matter made sense and considering how hasbro has been operating as of late (fewer marvel legends with no marvel haslab, firing of employees, etc) it’s not a stretch to think that hasbro might not renew. What do you all think? Is the end of marvel legends/black series coming to a near?

It’s worth mentioning he is not the only one saying this, Bobby Vala (formely a hasbro employee with inside sources) has said similar things.
>>
>>11223549
I like this guy but he also said that Marvel Legends was going to end soon all the way back in 2022 because some Targets and Walmarts near him removed them.
>>
Retardation. They could easily lower prices and sell more than ever before if they were any competent, since it hasn't gotten that dire, I call bullshit.
>>
>>11223549
Bobby Vala said Hasbro made a pitch to Warner for the DC license in case they no longer have the Disney Marvel license after 2025. Them potentially losing/dropping the Marvel license is completely different than them not making toys any more. They make much more than action figures. The bulk of their sales are from kid stuff, girls toys, Nerf, board games, etc.

Hasbro is a toy company though. They just sold off their entertainment division after many flops in a row, so if they don't sell toys, what the fuck would they do? This is literally one of the dumbest takes from Scott in ages.
>>
>>11223556
Most of hasbro’s profits come from magic the gathering playing cards. The current CEO Chris Cox has discuss great interest in the brand and potentially integrating ai as well. Scott said in the video that hasbro might lease out their ips like GI Joe much like how Disney operates with marvel and star wars, collecting royalties instead of doing things in house
>>
>>11223566
hasbro already leases out their IPs, this would change nothing and is not new information; they gave playmates power rangers, super 7 and hiya gi joe, etc
>>
Does anyone else imagine that Scott is married to a hot Jewess? not as prime as Kat Dennings or ScarJo but at least a post wall Wionna?
>>
>>11223583
Lol opps forgot to delete my job title
>>
>>11223583
I have seen his wife she is a fat round blonde
>>
>>11223587
How fat ate we talking?
>>
Is Scotty potty really still trying to clixkbait? Didn't his channel almost get terminated? What happened with that?
>>
>>11223549
Kind of a shit move after buying up half the other companies out there. Putting competition out of business only to decide to fuck it all and do something else. Leaving the public with nothing.
>>
>>11223636
Perhaps Hasbro didn't make as much money as they hoped after buying those companies.
I'm sure the toy business was booming before the woke and covid era.
>>
>>11223640
Maybe Americans can't fucking sell anything outside of nostalgia and will keep failing to do so
>>
>>11223587
Did she have big tits? Literally the only thing that matters. you can feel tits but turning off the lights solves all other flaws.
>>
>>11223549
>Please, I'm begging you. My channel is how I make money. My kids will starve if you don't remove the strikes from my channel. I will do anything you want. I will credit all of your photos, or never use your work again if you wish. Please, just give me my channel back.
It's worth mentioning that Scotty is a lying rat with a tiny hat who thrives on clickbait and creating drama. Not watching. Not listening. Not worth discussing.
>>
>>11223566
>Scott said in the video that hasbro might lease out their ips like GI Joe much like how Disney operates with marvel and star wars, collecting royalties instead of doing things in house
As the other guy said, they've been doing this for years already. This is not news. They completely gave up the master licene for Power Rangers to Playmates, have many companies doing GI Joe and TF stuff including McFarlane Toys, they have Jazwares doing some preschool Spiderman stuff and Nerf items, etc.
>>
>>11223556
>Bobby Vala said Hasbro made a pitch to Warner for the DC license in case they no longer have the Disney Marvel license after 2025.

Bobby said it would be announced by Toyfair, and that has come and gone and nothing happened. It's all speculation.
>>
>>11223659
In this 3POA podcast. They talk about it around the 57min mark. He does say "I was told it not as a fact, but by someone outside of Hasbro" so take it with a grain of salt. People here don't know what they're talking about

ToyFair 2025 dumb ass. ToyFair was in Feb this year and is March 2025 next year
>>
>>11223672
Thanks senpai
>>
>>11223672
While that statement about Hasbro pitching for the DC license just in case may be false, the fact that sales are down drastically for all their very expensive brands (Marvel, SW especially) is an undisputed fact. Retailers have been flat out refusing to carry tons of waves the last year. I'm sure some kind of big shakeup will happen after the end of 2025
>>
>>11223549
scott is a known retard that was laughed out of the toy industry over ten years ago, at this point. he now makes his living off his wife while offering to let you pay him to 'grade' your toy idea for 10-50,000 OR you can pay him to teach you hieroglyphics if you scroll just a bit further down.

this dumbass accused mattel of lying about their motu ownership because he didnt understand the dreamworks licensing rights and openly mocked fucking EVERYONE who tried to tell him he was wrong for YEARS.

fuck you, scott
>>
>>11223636
This is what capitalism in developed economies eventually leads to. No one wants to even have to do the work of even designing a physical product on a pc in an air conditioned office. They just want to sit in meetings all day about who they will license out their intellectual "property" to in order to collect royalty checks for doing nothing.
>>
>>11223552
Or hasbro could keep current prices but give you more for your money instead of taking it away. Legends basically come with a pair of hands now. And im willing to bet the marvel general could easily pick out every reused part to build the figure leaving only a head as unique to the figure. Its rare you get a legends like a crystar that to me atleast looks 100% brand new.
>>
>>11224446
It's pretty hopeless to try to get more out of Hasbro because they have already been taken over by lunatics who need to cut every possible expense to the max possible to the point where they fret over an extra 3 cent paint app.
>>
>>11223549
>Scott “Toy Guru” Neitlich
He also said Mattel were losing the rights to MOTU and was hilariously wrong

How can anyone take this faggot seriously? This is the same retard who tried to say Target was no longer Marvel Legends because his local one was out of stock. The same guy who tried to claim Mattel didn't own the MOTU license. The same guy who tried to use other people's work without their permission or credit them. That guy?

He has gotten most predictions wrong and was "let go" by major toy companies. He also becomes a cry baby when any of his theories or beliefs are pushed back on even a little. Fucker turn into a child when his G.I. Joe Classified theory was proven out right wrong.
>>
>>11225670
>his G.I. Joe Classified theory was proven out right wrong.
What was it?
>>
>>11225680
He argued the reason distribution was so shit at the start in Spring/Summer of 2020 was because Hasbro didn't want their brands competing with their licensees which makes no fucking sense on it's own but people started pointing out to him that Lighting Collection came out a year earlier and was forcing out space of other brands Hasbro had license with such as Disney's Marvel and Star Wars brands, meaning Hasbro has no worries about upsetting them rolling out a 1:12 brand of their own at such a large distribution, and when the lockdowns kept going making everything scares it was clear that he was just making bullshit up but rather than admit he was wrong he just started deleting /blocking people that reminded him how off the mark he was and he just eagle spreaded any time someone pushed back on his theory.
>>
>>11223640
Toys were already plummeting in sales in the late 90s/2000s and gutted like fish during the 2008 recession. Ironically, Covid gave the industry a short term boost, but it's clear no company learned a single lesson or curved their expectations once restrictions started lifting. They just flooded the market with more shit and now the whole industry is at deaths door.
>>
>>11224629
>Or americans should start making their own toys again
Do you idiots who want toys to be made in the US know how much more they'd cost if that happened? The cost of labor and manufacturing is well beyond what it costs overseas.
>>
>>11232236
They actually wouldn't get made at all since there is literally no expertise here for how to do high detail injection molded miniature figures here. No US factory exists who knows exactly how to do it and none of the businesses who are in the business of plastics for other reasons like piping or the like would care to have to learn all the nuances to fill a market that would be more trouble than its worth. I know market idealists like to think no matter what if there's demand for it, it will be filled, but sometimes the humans on the potential supply end just don't care enough to go out of their existing market which they're well established and safe in.
>>
Hasbro gives me the ick
How do I buy Hasbro toys while making sure not a single cent goes to Hasbro?
>>
>>11232434
This too. Injection molding exists here, but it's much much much more expensive to do in the US than other countries, and all the specialties here are for machine parts and random plastic doodads like you said. The artisans that specialize in all aspects of toy production from molding to engineering to deco/paint processes to printing which is being used more and more on figure faces is just not really present outside of Asia. Not to mention the insanely high costs of essentially setting up the industry in this country would absolutely get folded into the cost of the products that would already been super inflated. You guys complain about $25 figures now? Well how about $50 figures made in the US that are no better in quality.
>>
>>11232448
>The artisans

Bruh, it's people making toys this isn't film making. Complicating a simple process just looks pathetic when assembly line productions are fairly simply. Even YouTuber Steady Crafting is making his own toys for cheap with minimally applied paint that looks decent.
>>
>>11232452
Do you really fucking think Steady Craftin on Youtube is the same level of skill and expertise as the tooling engineers and people that work at actual toy factories for mass production? Jesus fucking christ.
>>
>>11232452
>it's people making toys this isn't film making
Very complex tooling and the machinists/engineers for that, materials engineers for plastics, designers working on color and deco, people that make the paint masks/tampos/digital files for he figure deco, package design/production, etc, etc. You literally have no idea all that goes into making an articulated plastic figure.
>>
>>11232448
>>11232691
The ONLY reason toys are made in China is because the labour is cheap, skill is irrelevant because the tooling can be done by any engineer with the right C&C machinery. There aren't "artisans" working in the factories, they're just sweat shops that work quickly and cheap. If Hasbro could get a better deal they'd go elsewhere, fuck they'd go back to producing Star Wars figures in Mexico if the price was right. Mattel got a better deal to make Hot Wheels cars in Thailand so they moved production there.
>>
>>11233355
The point was that factory machinery/equipment specifically used to make action figures is probably super rare or not even in this country at the scale a major company would need. The specialized labor that comes with that is also centered overseas. It would cost millions to outfit factories in other countries with the proper equipment needed, and then they'd have to hire or relocate the specialized jobs to those factories.

While 99% of the workers in each factory are definitely 'sweat shop labor', it's the 1% that is needed to work in tooling, materials chemistry, and the ones that set up/work with the digital printing stuff that are the more skilled positions. Those jobs will cost money to fill as well. Major toy production will never take place in the US for things like articulated figures, before we even touch on the cost of labor issue.
>>
>>11233872
>super lost rare technology

you retards can make weapons of mass destruction and distribute billions of bullets a day yet cannot figure out how injection plastic molding works? are you genuinely retarded? are the plastic boxes made to house missile guidance systems for drones also a lost technology only capable of being made in china as well?

You're a fucking idiot. First of all the anon you're replying to basically said the infrastructure to make the toys are not in place in the US which seems completely true. Considering how quickly companies change factories, and even to other countries, infrastructure isn't that hard to reproduce.

I mean, shit used to be made in India.

You're overcomplicating this shit, because it's literally uneducated peasants and basic manufacturing processes being used to produce toys. There's a reason why toys were one of the first things third world countries started producing for the west.

>There's a reason why toys were one of the first things third world countries started producing for the west.

because you're lazy

>There's a reason why toys were one of the first things third world countries started producing for the west.

To create a monopoly and loot countries have no human rights laws so it was common for workers who did steal to get their hands cut off.
>>
>>11234018
>the burger flippers don't deserve a livable wage
The entire intent behind minium wage was to have the lowest livable wage be the minimum you could get away with paying someone.
Sorry the burger bro wants a larger cut, which somehow makes him the enemy and not the cock-sucking CEO who will get shitcanned in a year for groping an 11th grade worker and be punished via a 40 million dollar severance package to go with his 83 million dollar yearly paycheck.
>>
>>11234565
The real issue is people demanding to make a comfortable living off unskilled, minimum wage jobs like flipping burgers. No, you can't and should't be able to buy a place to live, feed a family and buy shit on minimum wage income. Otherwise why the fuck would anyone have any motivation to actually get an education and work their ass off to attain higher paying jobs?
>>
>>11234576
Yeah, because it’s so much better to have the rest of the population pay them the remainder of their living wage in welfare than the business employing them! Gotta respect those corporation’s bottom lines!
>>
>>11234016
safety standards? It's incredibly basic to manufacture and assemble a toy. It's so safe and monotonous, any field laboring Chinese peasant without education was able to move to a big city and slowly accumulate wealth for China at 2 billion pennies per year to make it into a second world country.

Safety standards are so basic that it literally just requires a sign to keep hands clear of heavy machinery in use and yellow paint. They're making toys, they're not forging i-beams out of chinesium to put in their dams.

Yeah, they use toxic paint, but only because toxic paint is incredibly cheap and that shit was in use until the 80s or 90s in first world countries anyway. Fucking everything is less durable thanks to regulations and those safety standards have seeped into abused countries like China, but only because they're bad for the environment. No one gives a shit about the health of peasants, not even China's own government. Trees and plankton > chinese peasant

This is the same guy who said MOTU was leaving retailers right? I can see Hasbro dropping Star Wars since Disney shit it up and now toy's don't sell. It would take Disney retconning everything past them aqcuiring it minus Mando and Clone Wars shit, for SW to get back to being good. Start by bringing back EU. Hasbro will never let go of Marvel. Especially with the Russos back in the game. Hasbro IPs are already licensed out they just need to expand on it. I'd like them to partner up with Ramen Toys to make official licensed 6 inch vehicles that Hasbro isn't willing to make for mass market.
