Yeah it's probably a good idea to wait. Sculpt looks good and has some interesting engineering like the butterfly joints that moves the chest pieces. RD is probably the best balance of price and quality but this could be better in some aspects.

Accessories and how many AY they do for Evangelion can make a big difference too. Kaiyodo has been going all in with Evas in the past.

I don't picture Agent Venom with the mouth so that was completely unnecessary for me. I guess it represents when he times out and lose control of his suit? I never read his comics. But that seems like a rare occurrence. I think all the exclusive parts have been good about not being a necessity. Hayabusa already has a sword, katana is a katana for example.

Except for maybe two, both similar accessories, DP 2.5's half unmasked head and Gwenom's half unmasked face. Because they're unique compared to the rest of their accessories (hence exclusive because they use different paints) and add lots of play value to the figures. They're handy for many different scenarios compared to spinning hands or hammer. An extra expression among a few existing expressions isn't a huge loss. You can grab another katana for Ryu fairly easily.

Agent venom and saitama clash with the rest of the figure's aethetic, deadpool and gwen/om unmasked just look dumb and I can't think of a situation where I'd ever want to use them. The SF ones coming with a faceplate for another figure is really fucking stupid but that's another issue entirely

Antenna holes are not clean looks like paint or mold flash so they don't plug in without making me worried the little pregs will break. I'll probably use a needle file but I think this is painted I hope there isn't some weird color underneath the paint.

I love how they articulated him hes got alot of neat stuff going on like with his neck joint and how his mouth open wide and closes. The antennas went in with no issues with some heat. Same with the extra set of arms.

Those two got reissued because they are Revoltechs. As in Kaiyodo products. Vulcanlogs are not Kaiyodo products, they were released by Union Creative. They have to be the ones to reissue them, but they don't own the joints anymore so they have to use their own joints. Game Classics? line did that and I heard they sucked. Also that company have become an anime girl statue manufacturer with zero interests in action figures. Chances of seeing those vulcanlogs again is zero. It's easier for Kaiyodo to make new MH figures.

Yeah it is a special case in the long history of confusing Revoltech branding problems. Another confusing one is Takeya-shiki Jizai Okimono, because there are some released by Sentinel. Sentinel is another name involved in Vulcanlog btw kek.

Basically, Union Creative made their own action figure brand, but used mostly Kaiyodo sculptors (some from Sentinel), and their Revolver Joints. This was a time when Kaiyodo stopped making Revoltechs more or less. They made Revol-Mini which were smaller obviously and used new series of joints. Which might've been a compromise from stopping action figure production all together? Old CEO was never really a fan of action figures. After a few failures, whatever deal UC made for using the Revolver Joints ended, so some of the unreleased Vulcanlogs changed into Game Classics and had different joints. By this time I think AY started already? So UC's action figure dream was pretty much dead.

UC seem to be doing very well making statues though so was probably for the better. I think they wanted to be like GSC with their figma and used Kaiyodo as a jump start but just couldn't grasp what IPs are good.

Stylistically yes, but functionally seems very different. All the joints are very different. Double-hinged elbows and knees, thigh and bicep swivels are straight not angled, no moving shoulderblades...? Nothing I feel is characteristic of the male AY jointing. But a more standard action figure like a SHF. This sort of shows how much better figures like SHFs should be able to pose if they were better engineered in the first place. Like SHF torso ball joints have shit range all the time!

The wrists looks exactly like an AY though.

I'm not entirely sure how the shoulders are jointed on these, as in if they use spherical joints with a peg and a ball peg. They do look like they are positioned at the top of the shoulders instead of the center like most action figures. There seem to be zero joints that are like Geo joints except for the wrists, maybe the ankles. Mantis had those at least. And hip area is a good example, Y-shaped triple ball joints at the hip area isn't a AY only feature, and the thigh swivels are not on that specific Yamaguchi style angle. The sculpt work is Yamaguchi style but the joints seem more in common with any other action figures. They are posed like how Yamaguchi pose them so it is difficult to make the distinction. And the shoulder joints are hard to see. So I don't feel comfortable saying "they have AY engineering" for these. Definitely Yamaguchi style sculpting and posing photos.

I don't know which box I put mine in right now so can't double check, but the central piece moves via 4mm joint. Does it get out of the way? not completely but like out of the way for one leg and not the other by twist and turning. Most Yamaguchi figures of this era, even today can't really do like a two legs straightforward pose, knees lined up. Like sitting in a chair. Their legs need to be spread opened for one reason or another. They're meant to move enough for specific range of poses, aka dynamic poses, so it's not really retarded but unnecessary. There was only revolver joints available so it could get ugly, complicated, or fragile making all that belt area articulate out of the way. Every joint needs space for the two long pegs.
