>>11246687I really hope this ends up being one of those items that sits on Pulse forever and ends up at deep discount. Buying one just gets you a box, buying half a dozen can build you a fort.
I’m always down with them making new Viper Troops for Classified. Like a Sky-Viper.Or a Parkour-Viper.
>>11246692Recondo isn't australian
>>11246709>Sky-ViperThey should do Night Vultures, damn it.
Are the Lampreys considered the Cobra equivalent of the Marines?
>>11246712In my headcanon he is.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bFs38YmxyWk
>>11246709I think frag vipers are coming so thats a step further, i like the job specific vipers too so im waiting for a night viper.
>>11246783Sorry, when I said new viper troopers, I meant new ones specifically created for Classified, like the Trench Viper.
Iron Grenadiers are badass. Ordered just one, but now that I've been playing with him, I want a second one.
>>11246836Agreed.Too bad they'll never get as low as the Crimson BAT
>>11246709New Vipers are always welcomed, Para-Vipers were one of the coolest new troop types to come out of the Modern Era figures. >>11246751Eh, they seem more like Navy Seals, they gotta go through the frogman training first and are the best of the best of the Eels. >>11246789I wouldn't go so far to call "Trench Vipers" a new Viper when in reality it's just a stripped down Alley Viper repaint. Now if they gave it a new hat and some sort of Shovelgun, then I'd consider it something new. Still a cool figure though, any Alley Viper repaint usually is. >>11246836I'm tempted to get a trio, but mostly because I wanna mix and match parts of him with the Grenadier Bat to make a Cyborg Grenadier who's flanked by two standard IGs. But sadly budget limits me to just one for now.
>>11245589Giving us an alien snake race of people is a world of difference between jet packs and lasers. Clones are stupid too but Hama made it work by not including Cobra La. That's a bridge too far. The difference between plausible technology and space invader illuminati shit is huge. Might as well make the furry teddy bears villains they wanted as figures.
I just finished painting up the harness I got for Starduster. I didn't want to go super ornate with the deco on it since I just wanted it to match with the other accessories look. Not a terribly big project but I think he looks a lot better with it than just having the jetpack look like it's glued to his back and carrying him by magic.
>>11246751Lampreys are officer class goons who run Cobra's boats. The regular Vipers are the Cobra Marines
Still surprised after all these years, Cobra doesn’t have an Admiral or leader of its Naval forces.People always use Copperhead, but he’s a swamp fighter not an open sea military strategist.
What’s Cobra’s best flagship sea vehicle that can try to go against the USS Flagg?I don’t expect it to be huge. But like the Stiletto is Cobra’s answer to the Defiant space shuttle, what’s their answer to the Flagg?
>>11247210The Cobra Submersible Reconnaissance Vessel Mark 9 (SRV-9) maybe.
>>11246789Oh, well i still want my night viper. Still, i like the new classified stuff like mole rats and valkyries i think the variety of bats has been fun aswell.
retro carded breeaker
>>11247325>retro breaker>non retro gearWhat's the point of that line again?
>>11247325Huh, was not really expecting that one. Not sure if I can justify getting another Breaker when I already have the RAM version with some aftermarket accessories, though.
>>11246937Ya know, I hadn't really thought of the whole harness situation on Starduster before. But now I can't unthink it. >>11247210The Moray is probably Cobra's most iconic boat....but it's also one of their only boats as they didn't have much of a navy. I guess a case could be made for the BUGG or Hammerhead, but those were both amphibious submersibles and not really meant for open water combat imo. Personally I just used the True Heroes Submarine as my Cobra flagship naval vessel. >>11247325I may grab him just because he already looks so different from the original Classified Breaker. It just depends on his full gear loadout at this point.
>>11247325He looks cheap
>>11246898>mix and match parts of him with the Grenadier Bat to make a Cyborg GrenadierThat sounds awesome! If you get to do it eventually, share it with us.>>11247284That's badass. I love Herb's designs. Too sad it never got made into a toy.>>11247325Meh, it's animation inspired, definitely not my stuff; I was hoping for clean shaved Breaker with bubblegum. Staying with the og.>>11247377It's kind of funny how that line works. Sometimes they're new molds, sometimes they're repaints, sometimes they're animation-inspired, sometimes they're toy-inspired... I would like a better distinction between Classified and Retro, but whatever.>>11247454Lots of Joes backpacks makes no sense lol
>>11247457It's a Grunt repaint with (I think) Recondo's arms. Definitely kind of wonky. Jake Gyllenhaal is still the best Classified Breaker
>>11247377The carded art presentation, everything else is what they can do within the budget. See: every modern G.I.JOE line 1997 - now.
>>11247454>Ya know, I hadn't really thought of the whole harness situation on Starduster before. But now I can't unthink it.That's exactly why I put a harness on him. I get that it's a re-creation of the original toy and they were staying authentic to it, but I feel like for a jetpack character there needs to be a believable way for their jetpack to hold them up securely, otherwise the jetpack is just going to rip his shirt off.
>>11247461Yeah, I think I prefer the RAM version of him. I'm curious what accessories they'll include with him though, hopefully they don't go 100% lazy and give him a repaint of Falcon's backpack.
>>11247208They don't really have a leader of their air forces either. Wild Weasel's the only named Cobra air force guy, and he's just their best Rattler pilot.
>>11247742But I always could believe Wild Weasel as a fighter squadron leader.
>>11247742>>11247772Cobra has a lot of deficiency in proper leadership roles. But that's probably by design because the more control you delegate to others the less control you have for yourself.back in the day I just made my own Commanders for various Cobra forces, with the guy with the gold helmet being the commander of the Cobra Air Force and main pilot of their flying Firebat Carrier. The others in this pic are commanders of the Arctic Squad, HISS Tank Battalion and Jungle Team respectively. There's a lot of room for more unique named characters in Cobra ranks, it's just making troopers and vipers is more fun.
>>11247325>no alternate clean shaven head>no bubble gumWhy is the Hasbro team so against a Hamaverse Breaker?
Homy shot, I got my fuckin Robo-skull today!
>>11248323Oh, yeah. I feel a bit better about missing out on the Rattler now.Now if Hasbro could repaint the Trouble Bubble for the Crimson Guard...
>>11248598That is jusrt awesome looking man. Is it fun to move around? Does it have some neat stuff going on? Looks like an exciting vehicle and baroness seems like she came with it.
>>11248671The wings being translucent plastic and heavily ratcheted makes me nervous about its longevity, but is otherwise a fun toy to swoosh around. The alternate 4 and 6 inch cockpit seats are a nice gimmick. The peg holes for the alternate eye socket weapons are tight, though, so I don't see myself (hahaaaaaa) swapping them out all that much. The included little spider skull drones and their little deployment box on the bottom right are cool, too.Definitely wish ot had more of a flight stand.
>>11248323I came home the other day to this huge beast on my doorstep and was not expecting it. Haven't had a chance to take it fully out of the box yet, but man does it feel good to finally have it in hand. >>11248598That actually looks really good with her, if I wasn't planning to keep the skull with my 1:18 stuff I'd probably track her down and build an entire Crimson team for it. >>11248671>>11248684While checking the instructions it apparently has a hidden feature where the chin guns can attach to the spare cockpit of your choice to make a little speeder and I love that idea. I was worried about tossing the spare seat in a parts bin, but being able to use it on it's own was a nice surprise. And I too wish I got the stand for this as I'm not sure it'll fit on the shelf I plan to put it on without one.
>>11248712>man does it feel good to finally have it in hand.Feels extra good after the Marauder Nam Kickstarter fiasco.
>>11248598Post more pictures sisniggater
>>11248598Holy, that looks incredible!>>11248720The what
>>11248813Mauarders Gunrunners announced that because of the constant delays of their Nam Kickstarter project, instead of holding on to people's money and forcing them to wait an unspecified amount of time for their rewards all backers will be given A) Full store credit refunds +Extra or B) Straight refunds of what they paid for the KS. They're still going ahead to produce the figures, it's just they are uncertain of the timeframe that the figures will actually get made. It's honestly an unprecedented and heartbreaking setback for the MGR team, as they've always had top notch service. And no other KS project that I know of has so openly, actively and honestly put so much effort into providing full refunds to their backers over unexpected delays like this. They legally could've just said the project was a lose and kept any money they obtained, as many other projects have done. But instead they went above and beyond to give back over 500k in pledges that at this point was already spent. It does seem like most people went for the store credit option as the figures are supposed to come out at some point and people will be ready to buy them up when they do. But even then, people received anywhere between 25-50+% MORE then what they paid on KS in store credit, so MGR has to have eaten tons of loss from this.
>>11248965John has been a legend in the community for more than a decade. Fuck, maybe two now. It's right up his alley to do something like this and run thin of profit for awhile for the greater good of customer service.
>>11248970I looked it up and my first transaction with MGR was back in like 2008, so yea they been going for close to 20 years and have always been one of the best companies to deal with. I hate that these delays hit them so hard that they felt they needed to offer refunds at all because I'm sure no one at MGR wanted that to happen. But at least they seem stable enough to weather that kind of trouble and not fold up completely. I can only imagine the store credit option was a huge help to soften the financial blow as it seems it was the more popular choice for the fans.
>>11249457Yeah, I would have gone that route if my ks account wasn't tied to my oldest email account that I almost never check, so by the time I saw the whole thing, it was already too late to opt in for that. Out of nostalgia, I made a purchase from them last night and grabbed the green roboskull pilot and a not Snake Plisken.More 9n the topic of the thread, here's a little display I just threw together called "Powder Keg at the FOB">Listen here, Abernathy, and listen good. I don't like you and your band of hotshots. If my man doesn't pull through, I got some VERY powerful off-the-books friends I won't hesitate to call!
>>11249545What are these stackable box thingies?Looks like modular diorama pieces but for 1:24.
>>11249849They're a Gridiron thing. MDS Bunker Walls. It looks like they sold through their stock and I don't know if they're doing another run.
>>11249866
>>11248684>>11248712Thank you for the description, im not sure of a word that fits but im jelly and glad you got one while wishing i had one. You said spider bots?
>>11249870The ship comes with three Spider Skull drone things that can fold up and store away in the prison chamber iirc. They also sell the three pack as a standalone item on the Skeletron.com site, along with all the released figures so far.
>>11248965 As someone who backed this I honestly would have been okay for the wait - or some sort of "reserve" at the store. Saying that. I was only getting 3 figures. Now though I am still going to get them. but there was more stuff that they had production shots of that I know plan on buying. (that sweet breach opening grenade launcher for one ) and I suspect they will eventually have the scuba gear I so crave. Honestly it gives me more confidence in them. They very well have screwed me (and others ) over but they done us right.
>>11249903I'm saving my credits for when the items finally start hitting. I wouldn't have had an issue waiting either, and in the end it's pretty much what I'm still doing now. They did say they would give backers first shot at any Nam figure releases, so I'll just grab em when they go live. If I have any credit left I'll probably go ham on some other stuff and even dump whatever is left of my toybudget at the time on em as well.
>>11249867
>>11249926I don't need armor kibble, or an extra head. I DO need *his* sword.
>>11249863>They're a Gridiron thingThat site is really for the hardcore people, like $40 for a weapon pack when I could just buy 2 more BATs for that.
>>11249903They are doing a geared up sale right now. The Courier is sweet but I have plans for some chicken fried Krampus
>>11249545Great display! I have that DSHIELD pack too. In my stand, G.I. Joe is a SHIELD sib-unit, not too different from Hama's Fury Force.>>11249867Badass masks>>11249926Huh, so they're going the full Cobra route giving him a Viper faceplate.
>>11250286That's just a mockup either him or someone else made. We don't know what the final figure will look like still.
So I just blew about a hundred bucks give or take at BBTS for the Super 7 Cobra Trooper and Crimson Guardsman for my recently acquired Cobra Commander. I have to ask, anyone own them and are there anything one should know about them?
>>11250291On a side note, anyone wish they would give him a white guy unmasked head ala Big Boa? In the comics, Slice always gave off rich kid white boy vibes. Someone like Baroness who came from money and bought his way into a ninja clan and became a ninja assassin.
>>11251319All that was ever said about Slice is that he's British. We saw most of his face in the Marvel comics after his fencing mask got damaged and while his face was drawn super generic as hell (meaning no clear ethnicity), the biggest thing about it was that he had no facial hair. I always thought of Slice as being like Carey Elwes from Princess Bride but evil.
>>11251322Slice was explicitly Asian in the Valor Vs Venom direct to video line, though in a super stereotypical Asian way where him and Slice did the sort of super submissive polite asshole gimmick. Also, IIRC, the Valor vs Venom Slice had an exposed face but again, super generic looking. I doubt Hasbro will give him an unmasked face but you can always put a random Joe head on him if you want him to be white since the guy is so low on the character totem poll, I doubt Hasbro even cares about establishing his ethnicity.
>>11251315Cobra Trooper has the gimmick where you have a hispanic and white hands and heads, but to pull it off, the heads all have attached neck bits so they can't be put on other bodies. Crimson Guard is explicitly based on an episode where you saw a bunch of Crimson Guardsmen unmasked but Super 7 cheaped out and only included one Sunbow unmasked head, with the other head being a generic hankerchef mask and black hair.
>>11251315A Hundred Bucks? Aren't the Ultimate Joes on sale?
>>11251328Crimson Guard is a new figure so he's full price. Cobra Trooper was $28. But shipping was way more than I expected, pushing it just close to $100.
>>11251315Trooper's passable. I haven't seen Crimson Guard in hand yet, but haven't heard anything bad with him. But the big question is why the hell are you buying these fuckers in the first place?
>>11251330I bought a CC and Snake Eyes S7 cheap and liked them enough to give the line a further go. Especially since I don't see anything of interest coming down the line figure-wise from Classified for a while, as Dial Tone/Leatherneck aren't coming out until second half of 2025 and I don't have the stomach to overpay for Wild Bill or Night Force Ripcord/Crazylegs given the prices they are going for.
I'm not a Classified collector, but I collect other 6" lines so I'll occasionally grab a Classified figure for custom fodder. Saw this on Pulse's holiday sale, and since 6" vehicles are a rarity I couldn't resist the very reasonable price. What do you boys think? Is it a good, fun toy, or will I regret impulsively wasting my money on something I have no connection to?
>>11251790Depends on whether you want to sacrifice the space for it. I honestly kinda regret getting the VAMP cause it takes up half a shelf on my bookcase.
>>11251790It's a beefy toy and that's a great price for it. Though personally, for a $100 toy I do wish it did more. I mean, my complaints are nitpicky at best, but all they had to do was add a ratchet to the front winch and a way to remove the trunk cover to reveal some storage or more seating or something and it would've been amazing. As is, it's just a bigger, though still very nice, version of an almost forty year toy.
>>11251790Nah don't feel bad about it, especially for that price. I've been buying Classified since it came out and I have zero attachment to GI Joe, they're just fun figures.https://www.gridironprops.com/store/p823/112_Custom_VAMP_gi_joe_gridiron_props_Enemy_APC.html#/Now if you end up buying this to go with it...
>>11251790I already had a Stinger and I still bought a 2nd one. I'm weak.I also bought 2 more Trouble Bubbles, an HMS, and some of the anniversary figs
>>11251875Sounds like you have a good display, wanna show us
>>11251823>https://www.gridironprops.com/store/p823/112_Custom_VAMP_gi_joe_gridiron_props_Enemy_APC.html#/NTA but this is exactly the kinda thing I wish the VAMP and it's repaints had standard, and it just looks especially nice on the Stinger. But I really don't have the money to drop nearly $200 to pull this off, nor do I have the space to show it off if I did. It is a shame that's the closest we'll ever get to seeing a Classified Desert Fox though, it was always one of my favorite Joe light transports and a highly underrated toy in general.
>>11251890Yeah, if this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SjHmRhVgCeY wasn't $90 I might bite, but I'm also cheap And I wanna get more BATs
Here's your Crystal Ball body leak. Red X isn't mine.
>>11252072Pimp Daddy Duke?
>>11252077The Super 7 GI Joe line is six shades of fucked, even when it did some good.>>No V2 Snake Eyes>>No Dial Tone, Wet Suit, or Leatherneck back when we didn't have figures for them which would have got a lot of people jumping on the line just for them>>Two fucking Baronesses for no good reason>>Fucking up Flint and Lady Jaye's head sculpts and refusing to recall/fix the figures or include replacement heads with later figures.
>>11252392IIRC Super7 can only make Joe figures based on the cartoons (Sunbow and DIC) and anything else is iffy territory. Anything else has to be approved by Hasbro (like doing a red headed Cover girl or stuff like Crimson Immortal) and to their credit, Hasbro seems a lot more willing to let them do stuff similar to Classified than Playmates did with their Turtle stuff.
>>11251323Weren't he and Dice also super-duper homo-rrific in Valor Venom? It's been a while since I've seen that movie, but I really remember that.
>>11252072There's also his supposed head sculpt
>>11252517>fangsSure this isn't some Marvel Legends Vampire guy?
>>11252493>diceIt was Slash
>>11252530It could be. It's complete speculation at this point.
Just got good guy Tommy and man, he's the coolest
I'm getting increasingly annoyed with GIJoe Classified having lots of points of articulation with subpar range as the norm.I just got Road Pig & Rawkus and both have retarded articulation shortcomings. Road Pig's torso has two ball joints that are glorified swivels and naturally his butterfly joints are pretty much useless as usual and just as expected he can't quite bring his arms down along his body. Rawkus's elbows and knees don't even reach 90º (the elbows are like 60º) and his neck is clearly intended to move quite lower than it actually does, and even if did, it wouldn't be remotely able to put his nose close to the ground.Nothing of this is surprising at this point, but goddamit, the articulation is all there to have great poseability and it just doesn't work.
>>11252672Yeah. It feels like each wave gets less and less functional articulation. All the complaints people had about overlays fucking up torso articulation now have belts and things sculpted on the torso but STILL can't crunch very well.
>>11252672>>11252691Hasbro has always kind of blown at torso articulation/ab crunches. Have no idea how they've been in the game for so long, and still fuck simple things like that up. Their butterfly joints usually don't work well either. They can, but often they're just not designed right. Some figures, though, it's more kind of that the design is to blame if they have big, bulky vests or whatever. My biggest issue is the shitty, gummy weapons, which was never a problem with the first few waves.
>>11252641I think that's a great wave personally
>>11252752It is! Great redesigns
