Why do 1/18 threads just die out and not get replaced? It's a popular scale.
>>
So take up making the threads since no one else wants to do it

if we can't get the toys we don't care

>It's a popular scale.
Ehhhh, debatable. There's not a whole lot coming out these days in 1/18; the most popular thing (JoyToy) is covered by the 40K general, and actual collector-grade 1/18 toylines are few and far between. Probably doesn't help 1/12 is just a better scale for the most part, especially if you aren't fussed by vehicles.
>>
>>11250630
>>11250671
Huh? There's quite a few 1/18 toy lines which are constantly producing new figure, vehicles and playsets. Joytoy (both 40k and non-40k), Acid Rain World, Planet Green Valley, all the Hasbro Star Wars stuff etc etc.

>If you ignore huge factors, such as vehicles and playsets, as well as shelf space
Vehicles and playsets completely destroy the shelf space argument though. And if you don't have/care about vehicles or playsets, you basically end up with smaller 1/12 with less room for articulation engineering.
I like 1/18, I've been enjoying JT's 40K stuff a lot. But there are good reasons why 1/12 has overtaken it.

Depends if you like vehicles and playsets - the most you can get with 1/12 scale if a jeep or something, the only exception being the huge and pricey Hasbro GI Joe vehicles.
>>
>>11250716
No, vehicles don't negate the "shelf space argument", because vehicles or no, they still take up less space when compared to 1:12, by virtue of literally being a smaller scale. Additionally, vehicles can act like a playset on their own as well.

As for articulation, there are 1:18 stuff with just as much as 1:12, and in average it's basically just butterfly joints, and maybe a second elbow joint, so like, +15° tops?

There's still plenty in 1:18, so that along with vehicles/playsets, 1:18 objectively has more to offer than 1:12.

My 1:12 boba Fett has basically nothing on my 1:18 boba, who also has his slave-1. It's not hard to see that one is a figure, while the other is a figure and it's ship.

>No, vehicles don't negate the "shelf space argument"
They do, because any vehicle that wouldn't work at 1/12 will still be huge even at 1/18.
And whilst yes you CAN get decently poseable 1/18 figures (at least, recently) you'll always get MORE articulation out of a 1/12 figure by virtue of having more space to work with. 1/18 figures tend to be either fragile, poorly poseable or have very janky looking joints. This has improved recently, admittedly, but it's still common for 1/18 figures to be restricted to 90 degree bends and knees and elbows.
>>
>>11250606
A big part of it is imports imo. Many of the most popular generals on here and toy lines in general are imports lately. If Japan suddenly started pumping out high quality 1/18 figures of the properties they make Figuarts, Figmas, Revoltechs, and etc. of we'd probably see a big shift in the industry. But if anything we're seeing figures trend larger and more toward 1/10.
>>
>>11250756
>They do, because any vehicle that wouldn't work at 1/12 will still be huge even at 1/18.
How is that a counterpoint? Much less a general argument? We HAVE examples of the exact same figure AND vehicles with star wars; 1:12 only ever got like two vehicles in the first order tie fighter, and hoth snow speeder, and THOSE take up HUGE amounts of space, BECAUSE 1:12 IS BIGGER THAN 1:18! Whereas 1:18 gets COUNTLESS more vehicles, such as the fucking millennium falcon!

And again, we can compare the exact same figures made by the exact same company, at both scales, and the difference in articulation is small, as the regularly produced 1:18 stuff is getting better than 90°s of movement, with the same exact figure in 1:12 hardly doing more, and usually that's with a whole extra joint fit in there!

A few degrees of movement loses to more shelf space, vehicles, and playsets/scenery, which objectively makes 1:12 inferior.

What the fuck are you even saying?
A 1:18 vehicle takes up more space than a 1:12 figure. The scale doesn't magically make it defy dimensional measurements and take up less space no matter what. Did you type without thinking?

>A few degrees of movement loses to more shelf space, vehicles, and playsets/scenery, which objectively makes 1:12 inferior.
Cost difference, but also the fact that 1:18 figures aren't the same thing as "Having a playset and vehicles". You're taking those two as givens and counting them as innate to 1:18 figures, when they're not. 1:18's have more of those, but not all 1:18s DO have them.
>>
>>11251310
If you could actually read, I'm clearly talking about 1:18 FIGURES, hence the "because vehicles or no" line. Because if you have NO vehicles, then how does a negative take up more shelf space?

Also, are you implying that 1:12 is cheaper than 1:18? Again, if we look at Hasbro star wars, black series (1:12) is $20-25, while vintage collection (1:18) is $14-17.

Also also, yes, vehicles and playsets ARE a given, because those are features commonly available to that scale, unlike 1:12, which historically has basically nothing in these options. Again, just look at star wars; they've been 1:18 for decades in order to facilitate vehicles and playsets. They've tried doing them in 1:12, and have essentially failed, but 1:18 persists with them. Your trying to argue that vehicles/playsets don't count, because they hurt your flawed perspective.

Admittedly It's just been kind of annoying lately that I make the threads and then they barely get any activity and die off due to the autosage.

Sadly I don't have any pics, but I do have all of my 1:18 Skeletron figures in hand right now. I got the basic ship, the silver one and a team of four Jungle Troopers. I need to clear space on my shelf in hopes the ship itself will fit there before I really dig into everything. But the figures look real nice and the wolf motif comes across way better in person.

I am not even american so I am really surprised when the first floor of my working place tower got turned into a HK based budget retailer and it carries a wall of the final action figures.

Though no aliens or any of the vehicle though. The vehicles I can understand for they goes more than 1.25 in the states.
But no aliens, I can only hope future resupply will have them
The aliens are much cooler than the humans

Outside of Star Wars (which is on life support), 1/18 is a dead scale. The only Joes being made are Jap Joes who have only produced like 2-3 figures and who can't even be legally sold in the US. Super 7's Reaction figures flopped and their O-Ring line has the same shit that made the Reaction Joes flopped (over price, shitty character selection, etc).

The only people making the scale are Japs or people making overpriced, made to order garbage that can't get into regular stores let alone comic shops. And Hasbro's current 1/18 scale Marvel shit is pure garbage with cheap design, horrible character selection, and shitty distribution.

Like I'm not sure if the intent of the sculptors/ designers was to create a figure that was commanding other, shouting orders...
But to me, he's always just 1 scream away from death - or worse.
