Recently purchased my first mythic legion figure and I was having trouble getting the joints to move and accidentally snapped one of the legs. This is probably my fault for not heating it up, so how can I avoid this in the future? I know NECA recommends hot water or hair dryer, but is there any other methods? I don’t own a hair dryer and I’m not sure how I feel about getting a figure wet.

You dont have to own a hair dryer, just borrow your wifes hairdryer buf.
>>
>>11548997
I’m not married.
>>
I just bake them in the oven.
>>
>>11548999
Is that safe? I can only imagine that’d melt the plastic and put chemicals and shit into the air.
>>
>>11548995
Fuck off. Are you really so fucking mad your troll threads didn't take off? Pathetic.
>>
>>11549017
What are you even talking about? I’m just trying to avoid broken figures in the future. I’m not even mad at the 4H, it was my fault for not heating them up.
>>
>>11549228
Fuck off, you even wasted your time making that fucking full of bullshit image just to shitpost even! You are such a sad sack of shit. Quit with the innocent act. You suck at it.

hair dryers are like $10. i have one specifically just for toys. would you rather spend $10 on a hairdryer or have broken toys
>>
>but is there any other methods?
put it over boiling hot water
space heater
>>
In a car on a hot day works too.

You shouldn't have to do that shit. If NECA has their QC standards under control then their shit would be like every other toy maker's shit with not needing these special efforts. I am tired of people making excuses. This is not normal no matter how much NECA tries to manipulate the market into thinking it is. It's not your fault because shit broke because you didn't use hot water, a hair dryer, and didn't have the toy blessed by seven Shaolin monks. It's NECA's fault for seeing the recurring problem while not making the effort to produce better-quality joints on their toys.
>>

it's how plastic works you retard, breaking joints is a common problem for any manufacturer, retard.
>>
>>11549553
Quit making excuses. We didn't have this problem until toy makers stopped catering to kids, and started catering to adult collectors. And paying higher prices should afford the buyer better quality, not lesser.

I find boiled water to be the best. boil some in a pot big enough to fig the whole figure or if using an electric kettle pour it into a container. never put a figure in a boiling water, take it of the heat and let it sit for a minute before dunking you fig in. let it steep for a minut and pull it out and try moving the joints. repeat until youre satified with the movements. then just let cool. these day i had to do this to even mattel and hasbro figs with all these pinless joints now. it's just the way they're manufactured.

It’s undeniable that of the major toy brands, only NECA and 4H figures have to be heated up. I’ve never had to heat up a Hasbro figure or any import brand. NECA and 4H both use a stiff plastic.

Nope. You're not only a lying piece of shit, you've never bought many toys apparently.
>>
>>11549629
I said major toy brands, but I know reading is hard for you.
>>
>>11549643
You're still a liar. Hasbro and Mattel and McFarlane stuff still has to be heated up. But keep proving you don't buy toys.
>>
>>11548995
Like the other anon said, buy a hair dryer regardless of your baldness. Consider it a hobby investment.
Hair dryer is the most convenient method to use as first option to soften plastic. For extreme cases you can drop the figure in literal boiling water.
It's not just Neca and Mythic Legions. Other brands occasionally require it, from the occasional slightly-tolerance-fucked pinless joint to scarily small 1/18 joints or big blocky pieces that have unusually large friction surfaces or whatever.
>>
At what temperature would plastic start to melt?
>>
>>11550217
I mean it shouldn’t matter, I don’t think a hair dryer would get you to that point unless you leave them under one for a long time.
>>
>>11549629
Aren’t animal warriors of the kingdom 4H?
>>
>>11557556
No, he Kickstarted his own line and shilled it in the Mythic Legions Facebook group. 4H didn't sculpt them, and I don't think he even used their factory and production manager like the Defenders of Eden and Legendari Kickstarters did.
>>
>>11550217
Depends on the plastic, but PVC can be as low as 212°F (100°C). I wouldn't go above 176°F (80°C) to be safe.
>>11550624
The issue I have with a hair dryer is that, especially for really thick parts, the outer surface of the plastic can get close to melting temp while the inner joint that you want to get warm doesn't get shit. I usually prefer hot water for this reason. Even distribution of heat right through the material. But a hairdryer is better if the company has a history of using low quality paint, or has soft goods that you don't want to change the fit of.
>>
>>11549657
I have never in my life needed to heat a mattel or hasbro figure and their products make up like 90% of my toy purchases my entire life. Even the "adult collectible" MOTUC line didn't have joint issues with a few exceptions of what they admitted were production defects.
>>
>>11557803
My thoughts exactly.
Why are NECA’s toys specifically so stiff?
>>
>>11557803
You haven't bought much of anything then, because Mattel and Hasbro have both needed heat, and moreso now than ever before. You're a shit liar. MOTU Classics absolutely needed heat, too.

>>11562552
They aren't, you necro-thread bumping shit head.
