MMC Titanika. Scored her for $350 last year. My Decepticons were such a sausage fest, glad to have the Big Bitch.

I also have this little guy, Mech Ideas Gauntlet (Ironfist) who is shockingly rare and expensive, but he's so perfectly smol. I like the contrast to rest of the Wreckers.

>>11894347
Someday I'll remember to slightly edit photos so they don't post like that, but obviously not today.
>>
>>11894033
did you find that irl or online? also curious how much you paid. i have a lot of nostalgia for this era of dbz toys even though the articulation was almost non existent.
>>
>>11894395
eBay. It was seemingly one of those warehouse worker listings where they'd found an unsold case so it was only $40. Check regularly and have the cash handy and you can get crazy lucky.

Sounds like a good deal. Pic related would be my grail from that line. I remember seeing it as a kid for like $60 at a local store back in the day. Just looked on eBay and one is going for $500 without the box
>>
>>11894033
So how are you defining this?
Something that isn't that hard to find, that's just overpriced but plenty of people have it, like say that one McFarlane Catwoman, or even something produced in a limited quantity, like the Longbox Hero 5POA figures, of say MadMan or the Rocketeer?
Or something truly rare and hard to find?
>>
>>11894641
I'd define it as "an item of high personal desirability that is either difficult to obtain and/or notably exceeds your typical budget limit".

This 1/4 scale Final Fantasy Edea sold for around $800 (I didn't have that), sold out instantly in spite of the price, and fucked if I know what one would cost now because I have yet to see one show up in the aftermarket.

Never mind I found one for sale for only $2000. Fuck. The Chinese should be knocking off this shit to bring the price way down like they've done to countless others.
>>
>>11894033
So a grail would be something I didn't get when it came out, it became rare and expensive and only after that I got it right? even if I got a deal.

Because if that's the case I don't think I own any, I DO OWN however some stuff I'm really happy I own now since it became rare and expensive after I bought it.
>>
>>11894736
A grail is something rare whether or not you had the chance to get it but blew it. An example is in the post above yours. They only made 99 for the whole world. The next example is Diaclone Bluestreak. The # found that are still mint in sealed box? Zero. Probably every one made has been opened and played with by kids.
>>
>>11894656
>notably exceeds your typical budget limit
That could be a Tamashi Nations for someone whose typical budget is Hasbro Legends or Jaxx Pacific Sonic
>>
>>11894726
I mean, if we're listing figurines, I can think of a few cold cast porcelain items I wanted that I thought were way more expensive or hard to find on the after market and I had missed out on them (when they were in stores, the price was reasonable, but I wasn't collecting at that time).
>>
>>11895425
And that's perfectly fine. It's up to the individual collector to decide what is a grail.
>>
Recently snagged Toyrise Genesic Gaogaigar. Got him for a bit less then his current average price, kicking myself for not preordering him when he dropped still scouting for a none rape price gaofighgar

Fucking /toys/ has become the participation ribbon board
>>
>>11895531
So you're the other person who bought some of the dcxsonic collab?
>>
>>11896499
Yeah, personally I don’t even think something that has just gotten super expensive now should even be called a grail if it’s even available. A grail should be something that’s impossible to even find for sale, that’s how rare it is.
>>
>>11894730
>ULTRA RARE AND SOUGHT AFTER
I hate sellers like this.
>>
>>11894033
I had the chance to buy this in China Town, San Francisco 2001 while on a vacation with my family in the 5th grade. Was told I could get one toy while on vacation. Ended up going with the Baby set instead even though I had no idea who baby was and hadn't seen any GT other than a subbed VHS tape of some Super 17 episodes. Wonder how my life wouldve turned out if I got the Goku set instead.

I have the original release of this figure. Although it lacks articulation other than interchangeable heads and arms and it could use a professional air brush paint job from a custom figure painter, I have to say, even today the sculpt is really impressive. I have around half of the SBC figures, crazy to see them going for insane prices. I remember you could find these for $20.00 back in the day.

I was collecting all the Irwin SBC repacks back in 1999 early 2000s. When they started releasing their OC figs, I nabbed this, blue gi Goku and Ultimate Gohan from anime shop online. I feared Irwin was done repacking the SBC line and I was right. I still have them and all of my Irwin figs and some early JAKKS. I have a few SHF like the Ginyu Force and SSJ4 Goku Vegeta, SSJ3 Goku, Furture Trunks. A bunch of Dragon Stars, but don't really collect much past SUPER. My one grip with this set is the gold metallic hair. Hated that shit. The SBC 3 pack is still one of my Holy Grails.
>>
>>11898020
It always bugs me how often companies do weird colours for Super Saiyan hair. Gold, metalic, iridescent. Just do yellow!

The Vegeta seems to be more rare, so I'd say you made the right call from a purely collector standpoint.
>>11897783
>I have to say, even today the sculpt is really impressive
For sure. Its Super Saiyan 1 hair is still one of the best.
>>11898020
>The SBC 3 pack is still one of my Holy Grails
I wish you the best of luck with that. I'd kill for just that Trunks.
>>11898030
My only problem with it is how it's rarely consistently applied across each figure. Otherwise I like examples like picrel as it brings a lot more pop to the sculpt.
>>
>>11894714
I'd like a g1 Metroplex or any of the titan sized class figures but mostly I'd want Metroplex. The days of saving up for a big figure are just over for me I guess.
>>
>>11898434
even the Encore?
>>
>>11898258
>My only problem with it is how it's rarely consistently applied across each figure.
I don't get why it's so rare for companies or creators to come up with specific style guides for their properties to make sure things are consistent in merchandising. Like Super Saiyan should be dark yellow SSJ2 should be pale yellow, there should be whatever the real-world equivalent of hex codes are for the exact shades and hues. The same way that Superman or Spider-man should have a specific blue and red. Not only does that keep shit consistent, it also allows for both copyright protection and also meta jokes, like in Gears of War, the character of Carmine gets his name from the specific shade of red that the security officer uniforms on Star Trek were. Carmine IS a red shirt.

That's like saying renters who are low middle class or poorer, even if they don't starve and have clean new clothes for themselves and their kids, should consider owning a home to be some 'holy grail.'
They can move to some hellhole like Kansas, where shit is cheaper than dirt, or Detroit where a fixer up house is $1, and all of sudden: grail acquired
>>
>>11899206
Yeah except in this case it'd be a very specific house so according to your example it'd be like if your holy grail was the Takara version of Armada Megatron and you decided to settle for the fucking Happy Meal toy
>>
>>11897041
Funny enough I got that Knuckles superman as a cheep add on to get overnight shipping from Amazon and thought he was neat so I then grabbed the batman and shadow 2 pack. The batman kinda sucks but the shadow was cool.

I am not even a Sonic fan they are just silly and neat
