What a day for StarCraft

>Expansive 1/25 scale line from Joytoy with plans for figures, creatures, vehicles, and maybe even buildings
>More focused 1/18 line from Jt for the more iconic units and characters
>New open world SC game announced from Blizzard
>Plus high end 1/12 line from another Chinese company, first release is SC2 zealot, next release is SC1 marine

We eating good SC bros.
>>
Ghosts are looking incredible
>>
I'm planning to go all in with those little niggas.
Never had a single JoyToy, but I already see a really cool diorama potential with these.
>>
How much?
>>
>>11897938
Basically 33 euro per one.
>>
>>11897946
which scale?
>>
>>11897937
I've got a small handful of Warhammer stuff but that was always cope for not having SC toys anyway. I too am all in.

>>11897938
>>11897947
They're around $22 per 1/25 in China but with shipping/importing them it's more like $30 each. Somewhat expensive for these small infantry guys but they come with a decent amount of stuff, and more importantly the small scale will pay off when it comes to the larger units and vehicles. They'll actually exist and should be way more affordable in 1/25.

Zealots and Marines include a neat little base

Marine set includes weapons and heads that are obviously a standard marine, Raynor and Tychus, which means repaints have got to be coming.

Shame it's still SlopCraft, so it looks retarded and is attached to a dogshit IP managed by one of the worst AAA slop companies in the world.

Hydra has spines and creep base but the base could be way better IMO, could have been slimier and not had the border.

Yeah bla bla whatever man, every company is dogshit and every IP is managed by retards. At least a company known for cranking out a massive amount of toys in a short amount of time with relatively decent quality is taking it on.

>>11897974
More info on this? I always like the SC1 marine design.
>>
>>11897986
It's going to be made by Hwang Miniatures, someone that made SC customs for years, as part of a new high end 1/12 line. Sc2 Zealot is the first release, just under $100 and comes with parts for 3 different looks. They have previewed the Sc1 marine and a light up, rotating pylon. They do not currently have western distribution and you need to order directly off of some Asian websites.

Really happy for you guys! Glad Blizzcon is treating you well.

Still hoping for a decent, affordable 1/12 Overwatch line. You guys are keeping the dream alive.
>>
>>11898027
I've been waiting for a decent Starcraft line for 28 years, hang in there bro

I do think all of this signals that Blizzard is way more open to licensing stuff out easier, they've notoriously been fags about their stuff for a long time, but there's been a ton more merch lately. I don't care if it's just profit driven nonsense if the flood gates are open at least some of it is likely to turn out decently!
>>
>>11898027
Wasn't hiya doing at least one of the characters? That will presumably be a line. You also got a few characters from Hasbro and Figma (i guess this doesnt fit the affordable requirement), so thats better than a lot of other series.

Interesting choice of scale but makes sense for an RTS. Kinda wish it was 1/24 as there's a fair bit of 1/24 scaled models out there (notably cars) for dioramas and stuff but eh, close enough. Might nab some Zerg, I've never played SC in my life and I suspect I would be shit at it but I love alien bugs. Would definitely buy some Roaches, they're cool.

Isn't hydralisk's scale fucked up? It should be bigger.
>>
>>11901699
welcome to Joytoy not understanding scale.

This is why the Warhammer 40k thread is dead, because they kept fucking up the scale to the poitn that everyone's old toys were no longer in scale with the new ones.... and the old ones weren't properly in scale either.

Hydralist's head should be at around the same height as the marines' heads, btw.
>>
>>11902139
They go with 1/25 to properly scale bigger units, and still fucking it up somehow. How hard is to preplan a toy line. With Zerg size differences in same untis wont be an issue, as they are bio units, but if they fuck up Terran or Protos it's over.
>>
>>11901395
>>11901466
Fuck off you goddamn retards
Diaclone stuff is 1/65 and a pack of a few of their tiny figures with a super tiny vehicle is $50. There's a point with toys where small size with high complexity becomes just as expensive as slightly larger toys.

This line will scale better exponentially, so yes while the smallest units like marines and lings etc won't be much cheaper at 1/25 vs 1/18, things like siege tanks and ultralisks will be much smaller and more affordable. For example the tank will probably land somewhere between $120-150, whereas if it were 1/18 it would be $200-300. They have said that even buildings are in development, sure as fuck wouldn't be getting those in 1/18.

>>11901699
>>11902139
>>11902184
Now this absolutely does deserve some criticism. They've said they're fudging scale on some units to be closer to in game unit scale vs "in universe" scale but there's already signs they're not being consistent with it. It does make sense to fudge things in some areas because SC units get *so* big they wouldn't be able to make them regardless of scale, and you do want to make sure an Ultra is way bigger than a Hydra etc, but it feels very wrong here. That said Hydralisk and most of the smaller infantry units are going to get a 1/18 version as well so that will probably actually be closer to 1/25 scale.
>>
>>11899350
That's a big missile
>>
File: ingame size.png (131 KB, 249x277)

>>11902256
I'm totally OK with in-game sizes as real scale would be just ridiculous and outright mpossible to do. But I want them to be somewhat accurate. Hydralisk should be much bigger. If we are going to be forced to mix two different scales, where you need some units in 1/25 and others in 1/18, it's going to be a shitfest.
>>
>>11902340
I agree it's not ideal, I'd almost be okay with all infantry esque units being the same size, but they're already fucking it up by having 1/25 marauders supposedly being fucking huge. So now we'll have undersized hydras but oversized marauders. Either they should all be roughly 3 inches, or they should have at least approximations of their sizes. Not both.

ALL THAT BEING SAID we are getting so much so quickly after literally 30 years of drought that I'm willing to overlook some inconsistency. This is an exciting time, I'll make my criticisms here and there and I hope there's a chance of adjustments in the future but I am still all in on this line regardless.
>>
>>11902388

>ridiculous and outright mpossible to do.
LOL wut

There's nothing ridiculous or impossible about it.
It's purely just joytoy fucking up and making up excuses, because they're charging outrageous prices because they want to pretend the cost of producing goods in China is the same as Japan and that their products are equally as good as Japan.

The scale problem was fixed over a hundred years ago, so we've been capaable of producing anything scale since the pantograph was invented and now digitizing sculpts has made it infinitely easier.

>There's a point with toys where small size with high complexity becomes just as expensive as slightly larger toys.
This is just cope. It's literally mental gymnastics to justify why a company is charging high amounts of of money.
We've seen how American companies can produce something cheap with the same features if they think there's a market for it. It's the same cope when weeaboos were claiming that pinless joints were impossible to make for under $40... or faceprinting or inner shoulder joints or ankle swivels or a dozen of other copes they thought was unique to high priced japanese collector lines.

Also, if they make a 1:18 hydralisk to be in scale with the 1/25 figures means the 1:18 scale hydralisk wouldn't actually be 1:18 scale either. So now they're fucking over the 1:18 collectors.
Two wrongs don't make a right.
They should have just done it right the first time and made everyone happy.

They're just doing the same mistakes that they did with their Warhammer 40k line. So i hope someone else picks up the license.

>>11902813
>well this company charging $100 for 1/25 MUST mean that it costs a lot to produce
Again, this is the same cope that weeaboos used to make about ankle pivots/swivels, not realizing shit like that existed on older American toys before expensive japanese collector lines existed.
It's the same cope weeaboos used about face printing, despite that technology already being in use since the 00s on children toys and then was adapted a year later by western companies in more complex ways without raising the costs of their toys.

Like i said, companies like Joytoy just looks at what Japanese companies are able to get away with and release shit at half the quality for the same price, despite being waaaay cheaper to do since China is a mudhut country with literal slave labor.

>>11902730
>you're only allowed to buy from joytoy, so how dare you wish for another company to offer better options at more affordable prices!

>There's nothing ridiculous or impossible about it.
Lore unit scale is pretty bonkers, look at the pic rel. to see how big the Ultralisks are. Battlecruisers have a size of a small city. Terran SCVs lore wise are almost 3 times higher than Marines.

I never had a JoyToy before, POed those, so have no idea about their quality/price ratio. All I know about them is:

Positives:
>they produce stuff really fast, in large amounts. From a preview to a release it takes months not years.
>they do huge ass units like vehicles which is great
>stuff seems relatively cheap - I'm used to collesting overpriced crap so this is just my point of view
Negatives:
>they fuck up the scale real bad in some cases, making your collection look like a mismatch of miltiple separate lines
>I hear about their flagile plastics quite often
>while their WH40k line seems diverse, it's not. All they do is marines from one chapter or another. Basically no other factions, orks have just a few models no longer available for purchase. But it may be that warhammerfags just don't buy anything other than their toilet seat marines.
Just like every toy company, has it's ups and downs. I"m about to witness them myself in few months I guess.

>>11902868
scale can be all over the place, but based on this pic >>11902340 they're not even getting the game height right with the 1/25 figures.
The problem here is Joytoy doesn't want to pay for bigger molds, since that would drive the costs up to beyond the price of the other figures they've announced.
IT's basically the same shit that Jazwares did with their Halo line and how the Brutes are so undersized, but Jazwares has a good excuse, since Jazwares is purposely making a children's line that needs to stay below a certain budget to make it affordable for kids to buy with their allowance or parents to get it as an impulse buy. Whereas Joytoy is selling this shit to adults and their prices are higher than other adult collector toylines in larger scales.

So here they are, skimping out, because don't want to pay more to pay for molds that would obviously cost more than the space marines and alien elf, while charging prices where you expect a company to not be pulling any stops.

pic is a 1:18 scale military vehicle that is much larger than land vehicle in Starcraft, yet it costs only $80 despite being made for adult collectors, by a tiny company that is pretty much some guy's garage, which means that numbers produced may not even reach a thousand units per color. extremely low production numbers, yet, the price pretty sane still.
>>
>>11902906
That vehicle has no paint on it, a lot of vehicles are cheap for that reason.
Maybe they don't think customers will pay for a larger figure, or will buy less of them. Their TMNT line had larger and smaller figures with varying prices.
>>
>>11902909
>Maybe they don't think customers will pay for a larger figure
Whatever reason you want to give, the figure is still very costly for what you're getting.
It just looks like they're cheaping out on the molding process, staying under whatever the mold limit is to keep it at the same production cost as the already expensive space marines and elflords. they're pulling the same thing that Jazwares or Hasbro does with their childrens line to make it inexpensive for kids... but Joytoy is charging waaaay more, like they're made in Switzerland (and there's a reason why Europe doesn't have any action figure lines) instead of China.

And the vehicle wouldn't get twice as expensive just to add paint. paint still doesn't rival mold costs, even if it was completely hand painted. Those Acid Rain vehicles don't even cost as much as >>11902256 was trying to claim and they're charging an extra premium for their gloopy weathering to the point that their 1:18 figures cost more than the 1:12 figures using the same designs.
>>

This is my take. If JoyToy needs a consultant I'm here.
>Marines ankles look limited as fuck
>shields should be attached to a bicep with a ballpeg. In-game they have a shield and hold two handed rifle.
