>>
>>11910851
The proportions are just terrible. This is why I hate licensed minifigures in general. They come from a variety of different sources of all different art styles and proportions, so they just don't work when forced into wonky Lego minifigure proportions. It doesn't help that nu-Lego design philosophy puts realism and accuracy first over everything else, which clashes with the very design of minifigures since their proportions are insane and nonsensical compared to a human or any other toy based on the shape of a human body like action figures.

As I mentioned in the other thread, most of the pieces those sets use are common and cheap enough that's it's probably easier to just get them on bricklink than messing around with 3d prints (a lot of those sets are just made out of the standard bricks and plates any Lego collector inevitably ends up having loads of). Not sure how you'd do the printed pieces with a 3d printer anyway, unless you intend to get stickers for them, but buying the actual printed pieces would probably be only marginally more expensive and look better.
The pieces you would want to print are a few specific ones that are very rare and expensive. The most obvious ones are the big transparent quarter-dome pieces, but also stuff like this damn thing: >>11910063 (common in trans dark blue, but only ever produced in trans neon orange for two sets).

Trans orange would get confused with the other trans orange that isn't fluorescent. IIRC the official name for the color is transparent reddish orange, which is an accurate description, but neon orange/green highlights that those two colors are made out of LISA plastic.
Also, I've seen trans neon orange/green being used for years without anybody complaining or being confused at what colors they refer to. What's with this recent push against them?
>>
>>11911404
>this recent push against them?
Pretty sure it's just me.
Anyway, don't like historical revisionism, simplas. Nobody calls pre-2004 light grey "greenish light grey", do they, they call the zoomer one "light bley".
Also, using official colour guide names is gay reddit shit. There's a colour that's light blue, we all know it's light blue, but it has to be "mEdIuM blue" because there's a bajillion lighter pastel blues that each showed up in one set apiece. Y'know what shade of blue is actually "medium"? Regular fucking blue.

I don't like Dark Blue anywhere outside of Hidden Side.

>>
>>11910217
it's insane how there's like 40,000 characters in Fortnite and Lego does like a couple per set yeah that's enough they need to stop at some point

I'm sure the 3D models are easy to transfer over to reality molds, and the torso/Lego print artwork is DONE. reminds me of Animal Crossing and those head molds are done, they could easily paint new faces on them, but nah 2 characters is enough for a $80 set they need to stop at some point. Able Sisters is okay with just the one sisters they need to stop at some point and not even make a new print on the same mold for the other sister

They always say this to mock criticisms of new things but never provide an argument for why old isn't good or new isn't bad. I got back into lego not too long ago, and it's honestly starting to get slightly depressing. It is an undeniable fact that their brick quality and quality control has gotten worse and the only sensible answer to that is penny pinching even though they are already making millions regardless.

I've bought numerous old and new sets, and have my older small collection for comparison as well, and the differences in quality I keep encountering truly are staggering.
I still like lego, and some of these new sets look really good, but every time I get something newer, I virtually almost always have to tinker with it because you either have stuff like pic-related which was literally a non-existent issue 20 years ago, or there is some outrageously bad designed aspect in the build that by some bizarre reason somehow got greenlit. I have legit outright refused to put certain stickers on newer sets because their colors are so miss-matched that applying them would make the set look like total dogshit.
I literally never had this issue 20 years ago, assuming we are even talking about a set that had stickers and wasn't with full prints only, which is a rare thing to see these days as well.

The worst is probably when I "de-slopify" minifigures by removing abhorrently tacky legprinting and such. I had fun with that at first, but at some point it's hard not to feel weird about it since I often actually have to buy more proper/non-tacky legs for a minifigure that I already paid for, a minifig that doesn't even feel proper and complete until I "fix" it.

Like, I have a small pile of these rejected tacky arm/leg printings by now that will probably never see actual usage, how big is that pile going to be in 2027?

>>11912999
I read somewhere that the head holes were originally added to prevent choking when accidentally inhaled by a child, but then had to be redesigned because they let too much air through so you could not effectively get the child to cough it up. So the new partially holed design is supposed to be a middle ground between the two where you can both breathe through it in a pinch and get enough air into it to cough it up.
>>
>>11913349
>I read somewhere that the head holes were originally added to prevent choking when accidentally inhaled by a child
No, it was just cost saving because it uses slightly less plastic (which adds up) and/or because the new mold didn't need replacing as quickly (replacing worn out molds is expensive).

If they actually put holes in heads to lessen the choking hazard, they wouldn't have started producing solid stud heads again.
>>
>>11913380
I thought they put holes in to make it easier to separate the heads due to atmospheric pressure?
>>
I'm sure I read about an experiment where people (adults) intentionally swallowed a Lego minifig head to see how fast it was passed through the body. I think the average was two days. Yes people did check their shits for a yellow smiling lego face. Of course I wouldn't recommend swallowing a chunk of plastic in case it gets stuck somewhere on the way through.

Maybe it's just because I'm an old fart, since I had no issue with lego literally using the default stormtrooper helmet but black for the TIE fighter pilots back in the day.
>>
>>11914099
I really meant more because I had some bad experiences painting/modifying Lego pieces in my youth (and fucked up a few fairly decent ones doing so) so I'm averse as a rule to that sort of thing. Doubly so where any shade of red pigment is concerned, that shit stains like a bastard.
>>11914091
I guess they saw the writing on the wall. Or was if a heckin captain rexerino situation where they rugpulled the paypiggies after they figured they'd squeezed all they could out of them?

>>11914138
What the fuck is wrong with lego? It's literally incest.
>>
>>11914106
Nah, that rex one was literally advertised to be "exclusive to this set", these galactic marines weren't and I think most clones/stormtroopers all eventually end up getting a magazine/polybag run at some point.
Though lego putting those marines this early into one is most likely not a coincidence kek.

Have you looked into getting one of the Bionicle pens? It'd be a bit bobbleheaded because the beads are bigger than a normal fig head and I don't know how many are floating around for sale, but the mask attachments are flat on the top so you could put a hat over it.

I'm butthurt about the state of lego threads and the absolute lack of traffic, which is also just a site-wide issue.

Literally 12 hours go by without a single post and when finally 3 measly posts occur it's guaranteed to be at least 1 obligatory mousecuck post which may as well not be a post at all.
