It depends on what you're trying to achieve.
Basic anatomy and line confidence are somewhat mechanical. So study and grind.
Personally, I think you'd see much improvement with strong shape language. Try also to keep a reference for the expression you're drawing. I think it's supposed to be angry? But just by that little eyebrow line.

I don't quite understand it. In the top left, that thing looks the size of someone's bed.
In the larger, it seems it's eating a skyscraper

have you considered torrenting macromedia flash and making your women have a looping tweened animation where their boobs jiggle hard
but srs time, mayby go ready some comic books/manga, if you want to keep using the bubble for text, and then try to copy the bubble shapes to understand them more
>>
>>77901915
Outlining as in what? You are, ironically enough, not outlining what you want very well.
Are you talking about the outer contour of the thing you're drawing or is it something else?
>>
What is your metric for success for any particular piece?
>>
>>77904999
If it felt good
>>
>>77905252
What does that mean? What "feels good?" with a piece you made?
>>
>>77900906
The text isn't quite vertically centred on the bubble, which makes it look sloppy. Besides that, you'll want to consider drawing speech bubbles by hand (or at least doing the vector lines yourself rather than just using the default preset) for a more organic look, reducing opacity of the white a little so the background is visible through it, or doing away with speech bubbles entirely and color-coding the text to correspond to the characters instead. Different colors than white for the speech bubble might also be something worth trying.

just to add my 2 cents building on other anon who posted the duck comic, you may use concavity to group text that’s temporally together
also, typesetting is probably an art branch on its own. try to keep even optical spacing around things, reduce number of implied lines that things align to
maybe this is a personal thing, but i despise centered text
>>
>>77905355
Its hard to explain. I suppose it's just this vague feeling you get while drawing where you know something goes right in a way

>>
>>77907469
Understandable. I first started doing it for fun, then when I got noticed I kept doing it to gain followers. Now I realize that it's given me a big boost in my understanding of anatomy, how to render "juicily", and how to work with clients.

I wouldn't want to do this for the rest of my life either. Unless it doesn't make me enough money to live comfortably.

>>77881816
Turn on autosaving in your art program. If it's less than a decade old it will have it.
>>77883811
>the machine pulls a BSoD or when power suddenly goes out. That corrupts the whole file, so unless you've got a backup copy that you saved out of paranoia, that's that.

If you're on windows, turn on file history for your art folder and set it to backup to an external drive or a physically separate internal drive every 15 minutes. I literally had that exact situation happen to me but I only lost about 4 minutes of rendering because I'm not an idiot and I don't trust my technology anymore. Plus if you do something dumb like save over a file when you shouldn't have you can just roll it back to the previous version either before or after saving the current one under a new name. I have rescued several merged sketch layers that way.

If you're on Linux use timeshift or some other snapshotting program, but back up your shit regularly if you care about it. I think macs do it automatically but I loathe everything apple creates so I don't know for sure.

As someone who had a drive blow up without any backups, let me tell you it's UNBELIEVABLY painful to lose a bunch of stuff you care about. Storage is stupid cheap these days, a $50 drive will buy you peace of mind that all of your unforgivable drawings will be safe forever along with vidya saves, personal documents, and anything else you can't afford to lose.

yeah, it’s a short sentence and not a full comic, so doesn’t take a lot of time
>gimp on top
more recent gimps have manual kerning option (the 13 number, adjusts letter spacing), lets you arrange text more tightly, if you want. also, turn off hinting, it makes text slightly softer (hinting more or less rounds coordinates of text curves to better fall into pixel grid)
>bottom is inkscape
if you wanna go really deep and can stomach opening up another program as part of workflow, i’d recommend checking it out. you can put text on a curve for really funky shit. here i even made a curve from 4 segments to demonstrate how it flows the text. not to mention drawing bubbles should be more convenient on it

A number of things:
Shoulder and hips are at different angles instead of nearly parallel that you have it. Most all poses the angle of the hips and shoulders create lines that will eventually intersect.
The mouth is lower and smaller than the ref, a rule of thumb is that at rest generally people's mouths extend to half way between each eye, and that's the case in your ref. The glasses are bigger and she's turned slightly more towards the camera in the ref, too
Her chest is lower and not as full as it is in the ref, and her hips are a bit wider too. When blocking out shapes, it helps to have individual areas for the ribcage, stomach, hips, and thighs instead of one large curve.
When compared to the ref, your piece's arms are too long, and the hands too small. Generally you'd want to make the hands about as big as their face.
Also try to imagine these building blocks as 3 dimensional shapes. Don't be afraid to actually sketch out the wireframe of them to get a better idea of how things would curve around each other.
I would consider studying human anatomy a bit to help wrap your head around how and where things connect, and why they're shaped the way they are.

It's not a matter of whether or not you art sucks, it's about how much information you share about your personal life internet safety 101 stuff.

One of the good and bad things about this challenge, is that I kind of have to let go of mistakes and just finish. Otherwise I'd be working on each drawing for around a week.

Honestly I spent about a year hemming and hawing about sharing art online and in hindsight I wish I had posted stuff earlier. As long as you can find approved posts on e621 that are worse than your own art (this isn't very hard if you've been drawing for more than 6 months) you're good to go.

>>77937743
>it's about how much information you share about your personal life internet safety 101 stuff.
don't share anything. People who treat their furry porn accounts like their personal facebook page confuse and terrify me, plus they create a truly massive attack surface that nobody needs in their lives.

>I live with my parents. They don't care. And even if they did care they don't know what to say so they just allow it.
Personally my parents could not have tortured any of that information out of me when I was still living under their roof but hey, live and let live I guess.

>I'm applying to university in an art field.
Probably a bad idea unless you've got a scholarship that covers the tuition fees and you don't need to take out a student loan for it. Art degrees are notorious for being completely useless (often less than useless, since many employers actively avoid people with them for fear of accidentally hiring a drama queen headcase that's one bad day away from a messy lawsuit) on the job market. Besides, most of the shit they'll teach you that's actually relevant to making art, you can learn on your own with less ancillary bullshit coursework to slog through thanks to the wide availability of online resources. Same holds true for most other subjects now, really, provided you've got the discipline for autodidactism. The university as we know it is rapidly becoming an outmoded and obsolete institution.

>In my application portfolio, is it a good or bad idea to add my funny animal drawings in it?
Probably not too much of a demerit, provided you don't put explicit porn in there, but that should go without saying. If you want to be extra sure, stay away from skimpy outfits and suggestive poses/expressions, too. In Europe you probably could get away with a lot more risque material, but the anglosphere isn't saddled with a reputation for unreasonable prudishness for nothing.

Been a while since we last saw your work, welcome back.
You still need to grind the fundamentals a lot more, unfortunately. The broad strokes of the figure are roughly where they should be, but the proportions are haphazard. One leg's significantly thicker than the other, the wing-arms are very thin in comparison to the whole figure and the head's a bit small. The wings don't look much like wings either, but wings aren't the easiest subject to draw so I'll cut you some slack there.

I believe it! (i think it implies a bit of a serious commitment too though, 3 years is not that long, and art probably has to be your main _thing_ for you to get to Aruurara's level? (at least some practice every day, and at least an hour probably) /shrug
>>
>>77983838
I used to think it was less true, but nah, it's 100% true. At the very least copying from references for 3 years will get you way way further than a solid 60% of the anons on /ic/ who spend 20 hours a week looking for learning materials and 45 minutes actually learning.

>>77983838
Aruurara would say that wouldn't they.
But there is no universal path forward.
What is your goal and how does it look. Answer that before you can start looking for a way to reach it.

More or less, though I'd argue it's best to take a crack at altering reference material slightly when you get to drawing to better suit stuff you want to draw and to get better at visualizing how certain things are meant to be posed.

Hello, posting here since I just want to get a "feel" for if this looks alright. It's the tail for me, that I want to know if it looks okay-ish. Supposed to be a canine.

I have no place else to go for advice/feedback.

>>77983838
Too true, I have so many images of porn saved on my PC that I can trace and recreate whilst learning about the fundamentals. And yet, I don't plan on becoming a porn artist; porn artists do the job for me and give me what I want to learn. In return, I MAKE anthro characters they can make a profit from. It's just as simple as that.
>>
Ugh, been 2 weeks since I last drew. Time to get back to it again

Also, what are people thoughts on using vector line tools, like Continous Curve or Bezier Curve?
I've been relying on them a lot less lately, trying to draw as much lines by hand, but god damn do I have to redraw lines so much more often in order to get them the right thickness, right shape, or not as squiggly.
