ive been amd only before ryzen was a thing. the first and only nvidia gpu i ever bought was a 750ti sc paired with an i5-4440
aside from intel arc shenanigans i am okay accepting that amd is behind i just wish more people were willing to chart these otherwise uncharted waters with me. there used to be an intel arc slopper but he ditched it for amd because the suffering was just that bad. its not like i cant go buy a 4000-5000 series gpu either, its more about i dont trust that fucking power connector and will avoid it as long as i can

Im not a fanboy of either. I mostly bought intel but the latest gen having burn out issues, yeah i dropped that shit like a hot rock! AMD for my latest processor.

My latest build started with a 5080 but after I saw the prices of RAM and GPU's increasing so rapidly, I decided now was the correct time to get a 5090 and because of the number of CUDA cores, my CUDA processing has basically doubled since I swapped from the 5080 to the 5090. I've still got the 5080 sat in a box downstairs because I don't know what to do with it. I feel like I should probably wait six months and then try and sell it.

im autistic you must understand. its not even about warranties or anything like that, its that this entire connector no matter how many revisions they make will stay a problem until they make it physically bigger. thats all they need to do but they dont. then add in the lack of load balancing and other stuff. most people dont factor in "is the risk of problems really worth it" and in my eyes its not. id rather have 4 separate 8pins instead of relying on adapting 4 8pins into a 12v hpwr or whatever its new new new version is. its just simply a trash connector that shouldnt be a thing. its too small for that much power to go through it. the fact its happened on amd gpus with less power draw, and soon the intel arc dualgpus is telling. id sooner trust several EPS pins and adapters from PCIE 6pin to EPS 8pin than ever deal with that monstrosity

autism aside, im not a fanboy either i simply just dont like nvidia's gpus. i like to tinker and tinkering requires a bit more freedom that amd does offer. ive even got a threadripper for fucks sake and its my overkill slop box just because i got an okay deal on it. lots of interesting things to be done but all of it requires software that isnt matured enough like nvidia's is, but it also isnt as gay as some of nvidia's licensing and requirements either so its always a double-edged sword

i just hope intel arc proves itself with a b770 or celestial. i want to see them succeed even though i hate intel too, but their cpu side mainly
