Given my little spiel before but I'll never not be annoyed at how Steven Universe specifically gave zoomers a bad impression of "off-model" art.It being off-model was never the problem it's that many of its artists were inexperienced or couldn't draw period. You hated people that couldn't draw to save their life.I don't necessarily disagree with the "if you can recognize the character it's on-model" stance either, plenty of cartoons that take that approach and are actually well executed, SpongeBob is often littered with technically off-model drawings, even in its pre-movie seasons. But for Steven Universe it comes across more as a cope for how bad it can look.Somewhat related, I notice in Digital Circus its had a design evolution for its cast as it's gone on. I think it's neat to see a CG production trying to match the design quirks of the board art, I can't think of another CG production, ever, to do anything like that.
