I've been thinking of a story set in the universe of The Expanse TV series, right after the ring gates open. Humanity makes first contact with an actual sapient race (possibly picrel but it could be any anthropomorphic race). Said race is at war with itself for reasons the humans haven't been able to discern due to language barriers, but one thing is clear—the group that appears to be losing was desperate enough to blow straight past the UNN ship blockade at the Sol Ring and straight into the Sol system. It was seen by the colonist ships waiting at the blockade, so neither the MCR or UN could try to hide their existence.What are they trying to accomplish? Broker peace using us as a bargaining chip? Gain the upper hand with the knowledge of our existence?Would the rogue elements of the belt cause trouble for our visitors? Would the corrupt sectors of the Inner planet governments plot something sinister? I'd like some discussion from the Sci-Fi fags ITT. It's very likely I won't write this because I can't stick to writing something past the first chapter without hitting a brick wall but I love sharing my story ideas.
