I realized the real problem with me currently is most likely that I didn't draw and improve as much as I actually wanted to and wasted too much time while a good chunk of my mutuals got very good both technically and stilistically, online recognition and important connections, or both. As someone who's pretty much objectively a pretty bad artist with weak fundamentals and can't be compared to my more skilled mutuals, how do I learn how to draw efficiently to the point I can improve my own skills drastically and get a following (even a small thousands one is fine at this point desu) without waiting years and years? I've been drawing for more than 5 years, sometimes taking months long pauses and I'm still in the amateur range. A strategy I've hear that works fine is drawing for fandoms of stuff I like, but this is unrelated to having poor technical skills itself in my case.
