The sequel was entirely ruined by Harrison Ford. Should've been a totally unrelated story in the same setting.

This and Cells.

Luv's "I'm the best" is a creeper too. Her stuff will emerge more over time as being on the ball. People seeing themselves as products and in-fighting to establish "Product Superiority" amongst individuals.

All her existential crises came from the idea that she was being superseded not only by her creator's new products but in user adoption of "lesser" products. (Like a top-of-the-line white girl Stacy getting pissed off that Chad has decided to date a more trad Asian or latin Chick, even though she's incapable of giving him what he wants).

>>198596497
2049 was dogshit.
I paused the film halfway through to jerk off which for me is a litmus test to a films quality. If you can't stop me from jerking off for the runtime of your film then your film as failed.
The characters weren't engaging and lacked any screen presence. The pacing was slow and laborious. The plot was convoluted and at times directionless.
In contrast the original (or at least the directors cut or whatever) was a tight package where every scene moved the story forward while giving emotional insight into one or more character. Deckard, Rachel, Roy, Priss, JF, and the CEO of the replicant company were all more interesting and engaging on screen then any of the 2049 characters.
I can accept that some people genuinely liked 2049, but I don't see how anyone could ever argue that is was better than the original.

2049 is utter shit and inferior to the original in every way except the action scenes. The original asks timeless questions about humanity in a very pointed and masterful way, while 2049 is action schlock for retards who get wowed by pretty colours and nostalgia baiting. It doesn't deserve the name Bladerunner.
>The light that shines twice as bright burns twice as fast, and you have shone so very very brightly, Roy.
>>
>>198596693
Penis just cannot into subtlety. Jared Leto is an evil corporate businessman, not because he doesn't care about his products lives like Tyrell, but because he's a psycho who murders them for being infertile while monologuing to himself about how he's God. It's fucking hackery. You see it in Dunc too. The Harkonnens are white screaming tards who wear black and murder people for fun. Wow, what subtle design!

This dialogue always filled with wonder. If tyrel can't afford a real owl, then who the fuck can? Maybe I always miss understood it or something. But if he is asking then it must be possible and even a white has an artificial snake.
>>
>>198611653
Maybe owls are extinct in the blade runner universe, it wouldn’t be too surprising when you see how industrial everything is and how everything else around the city is a wasteland or radioactive oceans

wouldnt the audio in that room be absolute cancer? open structural ceiling, concrete floor, Ye is a borderline musical savant and he didnt properly setup this room and just put a ridiculous projector inside it?
>>

Sort of yeah. Or more like corpo drones in general. K is a product. He couldn't possibly understand why someone would risk everything and sacrifice themselves for something other than orders. He's never seen real beauty. I always feel like there's a pity in this statement that goes with the disdain. It's supposed to hit at working in a fucking cubicle and being a drone. Furthermore. I want to die. The pain of my existence has only caused harm to others and I just broke the heart of a beautiful girl because I'm too scared to let her love me. Somebody make it stop because my soul is screaming.
>>
>>198611625
Why would I believe you that it's memorable? And why would I not inquire about WHY you consider it memorable?

>>198611614
Even if true, '49 fails to demonstrate that kind of wit.

YOU FUCKING RETARDS IT IS ABOUT WHAT MAKES US HUMAN, NOT WHETHER WE CAN BE HUMAN. THIS WAS ANSWERED IN THE ORIGINAL WHEN ROY SAVED DECKARDS LIFE IN A SUPREMEY HUMAN ACT OF MERCY, SOMETHING NOT EVEN DECKARD WOULD HAVE DONE, MORE HUMAN THAN HUMAN. YOU FUCKING RETARDS. THE BEAUTY AND HUMANITY OF THE ORIGINAL IS UNMATCHED AND PRETENDING THAT 2049 IS ANYWHERE NEAR THE SAME IS AN INSULT TO EVERYONE (even you Ridley) THAT WORKED ON IT. OUR HUMANITY IS NOT DEFINED BY WHAT WE ARE BUT BY WHAT WE DO AND HAVE DONE, AND THAT IS THE TRAGEDY AND BEAUTY IN ROYS DEATH, THAT HE SAVES ANOTHER HUMAN BEING AT THE END OF HIS LIFE AFTER ALL THAT HE HAS SEEN AND HE CAN ONLY IMPART THE SMALLEST PART OF THAT EXPERIENCE, THAT UNIQUE EXPERIENCE, BEFORE ALL HE DONE FADES AWAY LIKE TEARS IN RAIN. YOU FUCKING RETARDS. 2049 CANNOT COMPARE.

Blade Runner 2049 was the only modern continuation to a Harrison Ford's movie which treated his character with respect and for that I'm grateful.

>>
There are no memorable characters in 2049 either. It has as much soul as an android.
>>
>>198613061
Pretty much this. I don't remember much from 2049 but I do remember some kind of Detroit: Become Human tier racism analogy near the start of the movie. That's when I realised the film would be shit. The original was simple and powerful in what it conveyed. 2049 was a mess. I guess /tv/ sees it as some kinda insight into inceldom or male isolation or something but if that's what it was going for then it did it in a sloppy and convoluted way.

Is retarded bullshit. Baty is not a tortured philosopher, he's a paranoid psychotic like all androids. This movie is shit
>>198602088
>>198611653
Holy fuck, this scene so fucking retarded and like everything in this movie missed the point of everything. In the movie the owl doesn't mean anything, it's just vaguely mentioned in passing and immediately acknowledged as artificial.
In the book they push on him the idea the owl is real which is unbelievable because birds were the first to go after the nukes. They try to sell(loan) it to him for his silence on the VK not working. When he susses out that Rachael is in fact an android only then does he ask if the owl is the same as her and the question isn't answered, it doesn't matter. Seal clapping retards apparently couldn't handle something like this
>>198611689
>Maybe owls are extinct in the blade runner universe
Yes, because of the nukes. The whole world is an irradiated hellscape, guys wear lead codpieces to try and avoid sterility. Except I think in these movies it isn't post-nuclear war so I don't know what the point is. The owl is just there for no reason. The off world colonies exist for no reason

olol fags posting 3 shots of his apartment and then complaining about the visuals. The scene with JOI is on of the most iconic shots of the decade and K with this broken nose and bleeding everywhere is just as well. Also K laying in the snow.

2049 has a lot of great shots. Especially with Luv. Bunch of contrarian faggots to your cores.
>>
2049 has a few great scenes but it's not a movie I would ever want to rewatch
>>
>>198617026
I misremembered, they do answer. There are no owls. But the point still stands, it's not just thrown out immediately. It is the key of the entire scene. And it shows his faith was correct, Sidney's doesn't make mistakes, if we don't know that what do we know?
Blade Runner is a dreamlike movie but not in the good way, in the way that nothing really connects or matters. All the scenes feel half finished or partially considered and don't really go anywhere
