Cruisebros...

American Psycho would've been better with Tom Cruise in it. You can't argue against this. Christian Bale is forever the dubs guy but imagine the kino and with a serious director at the helm so the movie doesn't look like a sitcom. It'd be something else. Also, double down on the gore and rape.

It wouldn't have been better
>>
>>198623285
imagine still not realizing that American Psycho is a comedy
>>
>>198623285
Cruise has a middle tooth which wouldn't be fashionable.
>>
>>198623285
I was thinking the other day Denis Leary would have been great. Unlike the others I can see him being insane with a nice facade. He could also pull off the comedy better.
>>
are you saying that this multimillionaire actor who's a powerful figure in an insanely oppressive cults which employs slaves who are working for him 24/7 is a sociopath? no way
>>
>>198623538
Perhaps the meme factor would've been off but on a purely movie basis, it would've been. American Psycho, even for 2000, was quite the low budget production.
>>
>>198623285
American Psycho is a comedy that requires the actors to at least be aware that the characters are a joke.
>>
>>198624736
He is unbelievably ugly though

i would watch a PARODY of american psycho staring denis leary. is he dead?
>>
>>198623248
Someone in college said the same thing to me. Said I reminded them of Tom Cruise. I assume they meant the fake niceness.
>>
>>198623285
Wrong. Bale was utterly perfect.
>>
>>198623248
In the book Bateman meets Cruise in a elevator
>>

What Bale didn't know is while Tom was talking to Dave, the lighting crew were continously moving things around and being distracting. This show was aired live, so Tom was under considerable stress as there was only one take and he had to give it his all
>>
Tom Cruise is either a psychopath or narcissist, denying that just feels like cope. Did everyone just forget that he's one of the highest ranking members of Scientology? That never stopped, he's still part of it. He literally has a daughter with Katie Holmes that he's not even allowed to meet because of his ((influence)), she cut him out of his life completely.

Not even saying he's evil or anything, but he's successful for a reason.

He's definitely a narcissist but there's no doubt he's also a very capable and driven person. Most if not all of his alleged bad behaviour is associated with Scientology, in Hollywood he's know to be professional albeit very intense.
I could believe a version of events where he's learned to channel his drive mostly for productive and helpful means, but he's in deep with a shady bunch.

>>
>>198623248
i find it amusing how willing he was to talk shit about another actor in such a by-the-by way.
>>
It’s interesting how Cruise is an actor and manages to do good work on occasion, but his real life persona is so startlingly fake and unconvincing.
>>
>>198628134
>oh my god they’re moving the lights??! how can i possibly survive this?!! it will undoubtedly take the full of my acting abilities!!
>>
>>198624736
Denis Leary couldn't do the nice guy facade in a believable way. It'd be like Jack Nicholson at the beginning of The Shining where he already seems like he wants to kill Danny during the drive to the Overlook.
>>
>that part in the book where Bateman spills his spaghetti meeting Tom Cruise in the elevator
peak cringe

It was one of the funniest parts. Shame they didn't get Cruise in for a quick cameo.

Tropic Thunder shows that he would have 100% understood the role. Christian Bale was amazing, but for being as much of an alien Tom Cruise is, dude nails comedy. Both would have been great.

Speaking as a working actor... most actors are the dumbest, laziest people, and most great performances (skipping past writing and pre-prod) are 90% production/editing, and 10% actor. I resent younger me for pursuing it, because you know you're a fraud, no matter how successful you are. And I'm talking about people who can actually pay their bills acting.

Tom, to both perform so well and end up LEADING A CULT, is on some next level shit. Pre-medieval days he would have started a country.
>>
>>198623285
Bale flexing while fucking whores is more grotesque than manlet Cruise who would undoubtedly make it sexy.
>>
>>198630484
He can spoof others mercilessly, but himself as the 80s yuppie in 90s office hell?
>>
>>198623285
>>198630486
Can I propose that it would have been lateral?
It would have just been a different movie. Bale played into the humor, but Cruise would have really gotten into it, and played up the disturbing parts to the point it'd loop back in to humor.
>>
>>198630555
100%. Because on set he's a weird naive puppy-dog... who is also really in charge. He'd just ask a crew member what is supposed to be funny about the scene, listen, and then run off like a Labrador to do exactly that. Smiling and nodding his head the whole time. It's whack to see when you remember he's paying the bills.
>>
>>198630484
>Pre-medieval days he would have started a country.
His stuntwork alone shows incredible bravery and discipline bordering on the insane, he runs a production company too, he would certainly become the Shogun (2024 mini-series)
>>
>>198630735
If he broke off from Scientologist, and started his own, I'd sign up day 1.
>>
>>198631511
What his cult be called?
>>
>>198631549
If he has a good PR person?
"Stunt."
