Beesbury wants to save his grandad but Alan is Ormund's brother in law, I guess we can assume he didn't approve of Samantha's marriage to Ormund which suggests Donald Tarly would've been pro Green. Owen Costayne rebelled against his liege, Ormund, so he needs some motivation that explains his action but allows Leo Costayne to not hold any grudges. My fill in the hole plot idea is to have Owen in love with Samantha but get passed over for Ormund for political reasons. If he kills Ormund he gets his girl back and his friend Alan can approve the marriage.Lyonel can have sexual tension in the early scenes with Samantha Tarly before he ends up fucking her. Garmund is sent to gain some influence in Highgarden and Martyn is in the Arbor trying to smooth things over with the Redwyns but they're still salty about being sidelined from KL.Unwin has his own entourage, his brother Gedmund is good in battle, his son Titus gets knighted alongside Daeron but dies chasing glory days later, his bastard Mervyn Flowers and his nephew Amaury later join the Kingsguard and participate in a coup attempt. Vaemond would've have possibly split the Velaryon fleet and caused massive infighting. No way he fights for Rhaenyra.That's a lot of fucking coincidences that just happened to wipe out almost all of the pro green factions before the war even started, stabilised support for Rhaenyra and left the Hightower surrounded by their own vassals. This is the sort of information only someone within the small council could know and such a wide reaching influence to create impossible coincidences occur that can only be explained by magical intervention. It's out there and more than just a theory, but this is how I would've written the background politicking for the early Dance. Slowly reveal it over the seasons.
