I think the bigger issue with the whole black Valeryons thing is that the DEI people wanted black characters on the show when there’s almost none of them in the books. That means all in all GRRM is to blame for not writing more black characters. But the DEI crowd never attacks GRRM for this or try to cancel him, they just cast the characters as they see fit. The writers could have just picked another author or another series to work on, don’t adapt another GRRM work that will give the fat racist white man more money.
