No, the "vampires" are really just a colony of worms that build a nest to replace your heart and make your dick fall off. The main character's son is a whiny piece of shit who consistently makes terrible decisions that make things worse for everyone around him until eventually he throws a temper tantrum so bad that he literally sets off a bunch of nukes that create a cloud cover so dense it makes a permanent night. It's not even good character work he literally just throws tantrums and is annoying as fuck. The only interesting thing about the series is the Nazi dude (you know the "I'm a jew" webm where the chick gets hanged and the dude flicks away a smoke? From this series) just look for a compilation of all his scenes and you will see the most interesting plot line in the whole show.

read the comic adaptations by darkhorse instead. they're accurate to the books and cut out all the fat. I liked how it started: vampirism is an epidemic and studied like a disease. then it starts getting into the religious aspect and becomes a hunt for a holy book that ultimately proves useless. most interesting characters in the show are walder frey and his nazi vampire nemesis, but alot of characters are botched and some completely unnecessary (hacker girl).

Quinlan deserved more screen time

The first one or two episodes ware fantastic (directed by Del Toro if Im not mistaken) and they make a great setup but its a s slow but steady drop in quality as the series trudges along (many such cases). I think I dropped it after season one.
