I watched the first two seasons which were fun but you could see the cracks forming even in season 2. That "woe is me" dramatic character moment at the end of the the hive mind episode was gay as shit and a harbinger of things to come. I watched some of season 3 but could tell the magic was dead. I'm sure there have been some okay episodes made since then. I just happened to watch a newer one with my friend after years of not watching and it was the Planetina episode which is one of the worst things I've ever seen. In defense of my friend he was still watching here and there but had not seen that particular episode. We were both kind of shocked at how it wasn't just bad and melodramatic, but utterly unfunny. Not a joke in sight. Whoever is writing the show does not believe they're writing for a comedy. I think they believe this show is "important" or something.

I would rewatch Season 1 and 2 any time, any day. Season 3 was ok, but season 4...oh god, what the hell, magic dragon orgies? Then some seasons later: Oh it's Rick and 2 crows watch the opening! it's anime style! cringiest shit I've ever seen. Season 1 is the only one that isn't fully contaminated with the self-aware masturbatory bullshit that Harmon loves. 2 & 3 carry some momentum and I think I even enjoyed some episodes in 4 & 5 but there were more embarrassingly unfunny episodes than good ones by then. He's arguing that R&M followed the same path as Community where it starts out with with a relatively simple premise of being a pastiche (Breakfast Club / Back to the Future), had a good first couple seasons where the episodes were great because they used the pastiche as a platform for incorporating other funny ideas in episodes that were standalone and narratively straightforward (S1 of Community is mostly them going to different wacky classes and school events each week, S1 of R&M is mostly Rick's invention of the week having wacky consequences). And then the adoration of the incredibly annoying fanbase got to Harmon and made him think he was an infalliable god so he started shoving endless metahumor, forced melodrama, godawful serialized plotlines, and retreads of popular episodes that pale in comparison to the original into it until it was so far up its own ass that it became terrible.

This comparison has been made constantly on here since S2 of R&M first aired, which is probably why that anon half-assed explaining it.
