Reposting because why notWould you look at that, it's time for my brief and pointless thoughts on what I just watched:>The Yellow TabooI was going to say it's a 4.5-5/10 movie and some might like it, but then the ending happened. Now I can say to skip the movie because holy shit did the very end just nullify the entire movie. Everything before that gets erased basically, so there's no point in even watching the fucking thing. It was already a very drama focused movie to begin with, and there wasn't any scares. Wasted my time on this one.>fuji_jukai.movAs the FF Chad of 4chan, I can tell you that it's one giant PSA with a FF horror movie plot to move shit forward. Is it good? Well, not really. There are a few good scenes, but there are far more boring ones. The horror plot is broken up by people giving a PSA about suicide in the forest and how you shouldn't do it. Then there's nature transition scenes designed to promote the forest/mountain as just a beautiful place. The highlight of the entire thing is the weird cult deep in the forest that for some reason all have the star of david on their outfit.>Crabs! It's shit. I was hoping it would be a funny b-movie creature movie, but it doesn't work, at least IMO. The Radu character is unbelievably annoying and ruins every scene he's in. There are a few funny scenes, the teacher/mom is attractive, but everything else was just really fucking boring.

>>217694638Thats how I felt with The Wailing, like I was getting filtered somehow. The curses and shit made sense (tho Japanese devil man and woman's ghost kinda left me confused near the end), but a lot of the film is just watching this retard cop make shit choices and bumble around

>>217701196Opinions on Hereditary vs Midsommar? Hereditary spooked the shit out of me because I didnt know it was supposed to be a horror movie, it read thriller under category and by the trailer I thought it was legitimately about mental illness passed maternally, so when the decapitation scene happened I was completely shocked. On a second watch though, maybe my favourite j-horror.
>>217704276Redeeming all at once, the adolescent film, the film made up with sketches and the B-movie horror genre,it was too good to be true. And however,"campfire tales " could have done all that.Preceding "the sixth sense",the film recalls, more than "Jacob's ladder" ,the obscure "carnival of souls " (1962)."Campfire tales",like the three movies mentioned has an ending with coup de théâtre, completely unusual. So why is half of the movie routine and business as usual?OK,the honeymooners are useful for the plot, but their whole sketch has no real connection with the main story. The same goes for the little girl surfing online and her dog.On the other hand, the last sketch is at once scary and significant:its conclusion magnificently segues into that of the whole movie. One marvelous scene:one of the boys is getting cold and he asks the girls to share their blanket:isn't it it an extraordinary clue?A lot of directors would dream of such a trick.Had the film had an internal cohesion, had he used all its sketches as it did for the last one,it would have solved the squaring of the circle and the three -despised- genres, which I mention above ,would have been enhanced.Yes,it was a heaven sent opportunity.Try to see it anyway ,it deserves better than its poor rating.

Darkman was actually pretty good, started out as just a tour de force of Raimi but by the end of it I was invested. Impressive because Neeson wasn't the best casting and the script had a lot to pull together. Like he's a chameleon, doesn't feel pain, super strength, and a special rage ability... any of these would normally support a film by itself.
>>217710434>Liam NeesonIt was supposed to be Bruce Campbell, but the studio said he wasn't a serious enough actor and they wanted it to be a real Hollywood production, not just Raimi fucking around with his friends again. Ultimately, it helped him establish himself as a director who could do projects like that, and then they gave him Spider-man (which feels very similar to Darkman in some scenes)
>>217710554God damn it definitely would have been a better film if Bruce had been the lead. His cameo at the end made me hope he'd be in the sequel but no.Looking at wikipedia I can at least add Mr. Giggles to my watchlist to see more of Larry Drake, he was great.

>randomly becomes thor
>>217711317>>217711595BAXINGU
>>217710434I agree that Neeson was a weak point but it was also too dramatic and not spicy enough. A cliché attempt of a comic movie executing every stereotypical plotpoint in the most literal way. The nerdy scientist becomes a revengedriven madman with heroic abilities when his work/house gets demolished by the powerhungry villian. Except for the crazy helicopter ride and the 3d-printing of the liquid skin there was no memorable lines or moments.

Would you look at that, it's time again for my pointless and useless thoughts on the movies I just watched.>Apollo 18 (2011)As the FF Chad of 4chan, I can say that this is worth a watch. I really enjoyed it, and it thought they nailed the look/style. Definitely works on the idea of less is more, which was the right way to go. It also helps that I love conspiracy theories, and this certainly has that included as well. The acting is better than your typical FF movie.>Silent Night, Deadly Night (2025)I have no clue, or care, what others thought about this. I didn't like the original, but did enjoy this one. It took a bit to get into, given the bad effects at first. It was a bit weird for a Christmas movie to be led by two obviously looking jews. For a modern slasher film, it's different and better. The dark humor does some heavy lifting to bridge the gap between things during the drama & romance scenes. Bonus points for the "garbage day" reference. I can see why people wouldn't like it, especially given the main villain is 100% obvious, and you're just playing the waiting game on them. Oh yeah, and the /pol/ crowd is going to hate that one particular scene.>The Knock Knock Man (2025)This was shit, but expected. The dialog, acting, camera work, and killer are all terrible. Even the kills and gore are lackluster and forgettable. The killer himself looks like what you'd expect at some theme park Halloween night. It's incredibly bland and boring. Save your time and never watch this.

>>217713811>the three pointless reviews guy is also the FFchad
>>217714171Yes, what's the problem? One is me making a general statement that it's odd for obvious looking jews to lead a movie about Christmas, something they don't celebrate or believe in. The other is pointing out that /pol/ is too far gone and can't enjoy anything that doesn't align with their ideology.

Ever seen Freeway? I figure anons in this thread would appreciate a neo-exploitation horror-adjacent thriller. Want to see Kiefer Sutherland as a depraved serial killer and watch Reese Witherspoon call a black guy a nigger? It's the movie for you.
>>217718863Freeway used to play on premium cable all the time back in the late 90s. So did the sequel. Matthew Bright is a great guy, also wrote and started in Forbidden Zone and made Tiptoes and the Ted Bundy movie with Jeremy Renner.
>>217719166>So did the sequelAh yes Freeway II: Confessions of a Trick Baby. Amazing sicko tranny villain but I just don't get as much enjoyment out of it as I do the first one.

>>217720105I own Halloween 1-4. Those are the only movies from that franchise I care to own. That Jason boxset though, I cherish every movie in it (except for Jason Goes to Hell, that movie blows).
Rewatching Cat's Eye. The mom in the troll segment is such a bitch!
I love how comically f l a t this one Aenigma chick was.
>>217720214>Halloween 1-45 is good, it wraps up the 1-4 storyline by revealing Michael is actually part of a cult who is trying to control him, which 4 starts foreshadowing if I remember. So. the story would seem incomplete without it. You are right about Jason Goes to hell though.
>>217720334one anthology where I could watch a full length based on any of the segments. but especially the high rise one.
>>217718330Haven't seen it yet, but all those 5 star, wordless reviews from accounts that are a few days old on LB and only have one movie posted make me think it might be even worse than I expected
>>217720214But anon. 6 is the best Halloween.
>>217720427You're right, 6 actually wraps up the "Thorn" storyline, which starts in 5. I was thinking that story bridged 4 and 5 instead.
>>217720473It sort of ties into 4, which toyed with the idea of the evil being passed on to Jamie.
>>217720367I heard Michael cries in 5. He fucking CRIES. is that true? Because if it is I'm fully justified in not owning the film.
Got any horror movie recommendations that give off Sega CD vibes?

>>217700265Watched Lowlifes because some autist on here was screaming about it in these threads. It's bad. It's more drama than horror. It's what woman see as "horror" About as scary and as deep as highschool musical. No real violence, no taboo themes, no real nudity. Okay looking girls but they have that usual vatgrown zoomer girl feeling to them. There is some blood in there but only at the end had there is 0 pay off or build up. Extremely useless and boring. Don't fall for the shills.Do yourselves a favor and stick to classics and stuff made before 2010 and the outlying good new releases.
>>217721807>Watched Lowlifes because some autist on here was screaming about it in these threadsFor over a year now

>>217720720I didn't remember that>In Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers (1989), a highly controversial scene shows Michael Myers shedding a single tear when unmasked by his niece, Jamie Lloyd>After a chase, Jamie asks Michael to take off his mask, saying, "Let me see," and touches his faceI guess it's sort of true. Never really stood out to me for some reason.
>>217720720in Curse he starts spilling out toxic green ooze, which is way cooler
>>217722389I guess the implication was supposed to be that he was controlled by the curse and had basically become the embodiment of it and she was able to, for a moment, appeal to the humanity he still had. It doesn't really ruin it for me desu
>>217720105>A legendary horror icon and some guy named Michael
>>217721913If you are an epsteinian yurifag sure. Maybe Lowlifes is for you. Maybe that's the target audience.
>>217722726Victor Miller, the writer of the original Friday the 13th, has said in interviews before that F13 was a "ripoff" of Halloween. He claims Halloween was making a lot of money, so he decided to rip it off and took its script apart and put it back together as Friday the 13th. So, to say that F13 is better, okay. But Jason wouldn't exist without Mike, anon.
>>217722952speaking of budgets, looking at the friday films they really were printing money. not sure why they kept the budgets so lean.Jason X was the first one that struggled but it probably made a ton in rentals.
I think I will watch Primate
>>217723259Well, google said this is why the sequels didn't get a bigger budget
>>217723755Sounds like some of them were financed and made independently and then picked up by the studio after, I didn't really know that.

>>217724976very satisfying death, total monke victory
Saw Primate the other night. Lots of bad writing but I guess it did deliver on kills, all the face stuff felt pretty spot on from what I’ve read about IRL chimp attacks.
>>217725067they should have used a real monkey. The thought the monkey in Phenomena or Shakma could at any time have chimped out and literally eaten the face of the pretty actresses is more harrowing and tense than anything in the movie
>>217725312I almost think a real chimp would be less menacing, because it makes me think about the meta of the film too much. Like some handler pointing a tranq rifle at it's jugular at it the whole time.Haven't seen Shakma yet though so I'll do that.
