It's how the main guy learned to live his highschool life right at the end and he explictly said that they'll all grow to be miserable losers as adults but that in that moment in the tunnel they were "infine" (as in, young and alive) and that's what matters. It's basically him learning to live and enjoy his youth and how he's glad he made that leap and didn't condemn himself to a lifetime of regret over an unfulfilled youth.

I avoid this movie whenever I see it even though I know Emma is insanely hot. It has a really strong narcisstic ego melancholy regret feeling vibe. I had a pretty good high-school experience and a girlfriend but this movie just makes me feel weird and I dont like it
