There are two inherent flaws with fishtank as a showThe first is that what's good for the fish is bad for the audience. It would behoove the fish to get the most intresting ones out so they have a shot at winning. There are workarounds for this, specifically not letting the fish directly decide eliminationsThe second and more difficult FATAL FLAW is that in order to survive as a show, it needs a certain audience of parasocial paypiggers who consistently pay money to interact with the fish, including several whales to carry a large percentage of the funding. The issue is that these whales and these lesser paypigs always need to be placated and satisfied. Fishtank has built a dynamic where it's not enough for the viewers to just watch the fish, they need to be acknowledged. Stacks and stacks of papers with usernames inevitability flood the house alongside roses, balls, plushies, toys, etc. etc. Because these paypiggers need to be shouted out so they feel like they got their money's worth. But this is simply bad fucking content. It's bad content every time when they just stop the show and run up these nothing gifts and pieces of paper. It's bad content when the retarded ass ball brothers show up. The relationship between the fish and the viewers has become cancerous for the show itself, and THAT'S the largest flaw that's baked in. You can't really correct this, especially not at this point. Because if GookRaper1992 doesn't get Emma to say his username and "thanks for the plushie" he's not going to buy another one. It's hard to cultivate a paying audience where they don't require this level of parasocial interaction, but it's not totally impossible. S1 was very tame in this regard but it was still financially viable apparently. It was only in s2 when they started to really sharpen the parasocial aspect. I think this was a mistake and they should have found a different way to cultivate the fish to viewer relationship.
