Do you guys think humanity will ever achieve Gene Roddenberry's vision of the future?

How do you think he'd feel about current Trek properties?

It seems like people forgot, ignore, or are just actually not familiar with Star Trek given it takes place after WW3 and a Eugenics War. So, beyond even the help by friendly aliens, I guess WW3 is the starting point if you are too be so wedded to Star Trek's vision of how such a world emerged.

I'm obviously reflecting it through a 21st century lense, but did splitting the atom and shooting some rockets into space after witnessing the most horrific event in the history of humanity really make some people so absolutely naive that humanity could achieve a Star Trek like future? The older I get the more I think this whole Utopian future thing was just a marketing scam to sell more shit to the consumer. In this case a cheaply made sci-fi show.
