I'm getting the most mixed reviews and signals from this movie. I keep hearing how awesome it is and how it's an ACTUAL homage to the original cartoon in contrast to that hot piece of trash we got from professional larper, Kevin Smith. THEN there's the people saying it's inevitably going to flop because it's yet another Marvel clone with cringe humor that repeats all the same mistakes from the Netflix series. I'm gonna be real with you all, I live in a part of the country where it'll take me an hour to get to a movie theater, ontop of all the money I gotta fork over for my family to get tickets and snacks and all that. My dad is also the kind of guy who's a workaholic who can't be bothered with lame/unsubtle political nonsense. We only go to maybe 1 movie a year, so you can see why I don't want it to suck. I only convinced them because they happened to catch a few episode when they were younger and liked it.That being said, I can't make heads or tails of whether this is going to be decent or a dumpster fire. Take the clips for example. One of them has He-Man grabbing the sky sled and it's that shitty overused joke of "Whoa! Okay, this is some sort of vehicle. What does this button do-OH SHIT! Okay, no pressing that button". Meanwhile Teela is bossing him AND Man-At-Arms around (who apparently is doing the Luke Skywalker thing where he failed and is now a drunk loser or some shit). Then there's the clip where she needs him to help, he comes over and lifts the spaceship with one arm, and she's gawking at him and his strength. I'm getting totally mixed signals here. Is He-Man gonna be allowed to be cool, or is this just a watered down Thor: Love and Thunder?
>>220937164It's shitthe end
It's apparently Batman & Robin vibesIt's goofy trying to be a serious movie and they hardly use the names of the characters like Fisto, Ram Man and He-Man isn't said until the end of the film and Jared Leto sucks as Skeletor
>>220937502>>220937198Alright, I'd rather not risk the embarrassment. Gonna take them to see Backrooms instead and just pirate this to watch on my own.
>>220938680Wow, Teela has a great ass. Unfortunately she's flat as a board and I'm a titty main
>>220937164>or is this just a watered down Thor: Love and ThunderEverything these days is Thor: Love and Thunder because modern day writers are insufferable narcissistic little shits that can't take anything seriously.
>>220937164>le nostalgic 80s reboot>manchildren have to decide if it's woke or if it's kosher to collect all the funko popsI can't believe you're seriously considering driving 1 hour to watch this slop. I mean, we're getting new Spielbergkino in a week.
>>220938837Spielberg hasn't delivered shit since Lincoln and not everything has to do with your sad culture war. I'm genuinely wondering if this is just gonna be a cool fun movie that my family can enjoy, or am I gonna be stuck rolling in my seat every time I see a cringe modern trope that breaks the story. Seriously, I just want a good movie. Like, no shit He-Man is hard to take serious, but you know who doesn't know that? FUCKING HE-MAN! It's his crazy world, these are his world's problems. His allies and villains are crazy to US , the viewer, but normal and real to him. Meta commentary is so fucking overused and it ruins the story by breaking the immersion, therefore breaking whatever investment the viewer had when they agreed to watch. If the characters can't take themselves seriously, then of course the audience won't do it either. Jokes are fine, some tropes are fine, but using them to undercut the weight of the story is the equivalent to shooting itself in the foot. This is why people have a problem with Marvel style, and franchises in general. This why Funko-Fan-Faggs are the worst because nothing is sacred to these grifters, therefore anybody can do what they want as long as they joke about how "Nobody can possibly take the source material seriously, it's too ridiculous". TLDR, get fucked you kinofagg
>>220939301instead of rambling about your manchild obsessions you should save up for a nice TV, surround sound system, and blackout curtains so you can build a home theater for your family. imagine actually driving an hour for this shit. fucking dumbass rednecks.
>>220939403I'm not from the US, and you have no argument because you're some loser obsessed with owning imaginary enemies. Kill yourself
>>220939435you think that doesn't make you a redneck? retard.
>>220939777So anybody who lives in the country and doesn't like Marvel slop is a redneck to you? Why do you faggots choose to die on these hills? All I said is that I wanted to watch a good movie and SOMEHOW you took it personal. Worse yet, you're shilling that kiddie fucker Spielberg. You're pathetic and a smoothbrained lapdog
>>220939849you're a redneck because you live in the middle of nowhere.your inability to identify this nostalgia bait for the marvel tier slop it is disgusts me. kill yourself expeditiously.
>>220938551your dad is gonna hate backrooms lmao
>>220939893I started a discussion because I'm hearing people say it's either anti-marvel or it embraces their shit tropes. Don't blame me because you're too much of a weak little city cocksucker to accept a conversation. "OH NO, OPEN COUNTRY! MY SENSE ARE OVERLOADING" God forbid anybody live anywhere else in the world. The only reason you're still here arguing is because you're 100% a pussy and a faggot who avoids any confrontation in real life, so this internet argument is the only way you can ever experience a win. Drink bleach or die a slow death of aids, I don't care which you cumchugging bottombitch
I just got back from this and it is a fucking blast!!! Lots of fun and more action than I was expecting. When you look at those old toys they were really a bunch of weirdos and that’s kind of what they are here. You have a guy with a dick neck that whips it around to beat up people. The earth stuff wasn’t that bad, more like Office Space pissing on HR. I work in an office and the HR people are the most hated and dreadful people in the company, I feel like they embraced that here with the morning huddles, you have to use your pronouns and black girlbossin’.I get the whoa He-Man crashing the sled ride but you really got to take in account he’s still young and wasn’t warrior training on earth. He has the power but it didn’t give him knowledge to Mary Sue everything on the planet the first day he got back. Shit at one point he tries HR touch points to Skeletor’s goons and get his kicked. It’s really feels like like this was more prequel or set up than anything, a rebellion against a tyrant. Hopefully there’s a next movie since a lot of them are in different places from this one. And holy shit! That last after credit scene!!! This better get a sequel
>>220940532Thank you, just thank you. I really needed a response that wasn't from some faggot venting his daddy issues on to me. Now I'm gonna trust you on this one, anon. Don't let me down.
>>220940532You have revealed nothing. Sit and spin.
>>220937164>One of them has He-Man grabbing the sky sled and it's that shitty overused joke of "Whoa! Okay, this is some sort of vehicle. What does this button do-OH SHIT! Your family will hate you for dragging to see it.
The cringy moments are very cringy, but the action, production design, general reference for the source material and Skeletor make up for it.Skeletor was my main concern, but Leto found a way to pull off cornball, melodramatic, and menacing all wrapped up nicely together. Also, god bless the abundance of Teela ass shots. The director knew the audience he was making this movie for.
>>220937164>I'm getting totally mixed signals here. You saw what you saw. /tv/ is HEAVILY astroturfed by SHILLS. Trust your instincts.Maybe wait a few days, you'll see more clips posted here showing how bad it is, just like Superman 2025, just like Mandalorian. When the shills overplay their hand, /tv/ anons usually clap back with actual receipts. The only time they don't is when nobody really cares aside from the shills and discussion stalls out.Trust your gut and wait.
>>220939301>Spielberg hasn't delivered shit since LincolnNot OP, and literally don't even know what the upcoming Spielberg film is, however with his previous fame and his recent shit record, I'd bet money he tries HARD to get one last "hit" out of the gate before he's through. The old saying goes "you're only as good as your last picture". I'd bet money he doesn't want to go out as a "has-been". Still won't watch whatever it is though.
>>220940584>I really needed a response that wasn't from some faggot venting his daddy issues on to me.Instead you got a faggot giving in to your need for confirmation bias.Again. Wait. More clips will come out. Judge and decide for yourself. How do you know that guy wasn't paid to post here?
>>220937164The movie has the silly stupid Marvel tone where nothing matters and the characters' only reaction to any stimuli is quipping, and the story is about He-Man being girlbossed into submission because he's le toxic masculinity incarnate.Still want to watch it?
>>220942012The masculinity thing is basically He-Man being a nice guy while Skeletor is mean. The same shit of the old show
>>220938822Sparda really sounds like a pussy compared to the Umbra and the Lumen, regular humans who took the power of demons and angels for themselves and used them to protect the world.
>>220938680>It's totally ok for the guy to be in his cartoon accurate costume but we NEED AND MUST put pants on the woman even though she wore basically the same as him in the cartoon.Fuck off film
The movie was pretty good considering it was a movie for kids
>>220941372>god bless the abundance of Teela ass shotsThis sounds like a total lie
>>220942361Saw the movie tonight and can confirm the camera loved her.
>>220942388Sure you did
is she-ra in it or nah?
>>220942464
>>220938680Why does He-Man look like a yoga instructor?
>>220937164Have you ever tried watching something without hearing other people's opinions first so you can make up your mind on your own?
>>220941932Literally where are the shills here? Not TV but all of 4chan. I've only seen people shitting on it
>>220937164thas a fukin jawa
>>220942553Did you clap like a fucking seal?>>220942698>I've only seen people shitting on itMeanwhile, in this VERY FUCKING THREAD>>220940532Does that sound like "shitting on" to you you stupid fucking faggot??? He's far from the only one too, and newsflash, you fucking homo, what to you think this weekend is going to look like on this board???? Holy SHIT you're retarded!

I only convinced them because they happened to catch a few episode when they were younger and liked it.Let me give you some ancient millennial sage advice.1. The only point of watching movies at the cinema is to experience the live reactions of the audience next to you, nothing more. Home viewing is superior in every other way. Is Heman the type of movie that deserves live viewing? Very doubtful. But you can log in to some movie ticket service online, one that lets you pick your own seats, and see if any of the theatres are near or fully packed. If there aren't any, then it's not worth watching at the theatre and just download and watch the movie at home otherwise. There might be another movie that has mass appeal and is packed full. That movie would be more worth it to watch live. Maybe Mortal Kombat II, Backrooms, or Obsession depending on your dad's taste.2. The important thing is to spend time with your dad and form lasting meaningful memories. A movie viewing is meh for that anyway. Maybe look for another activity you would both enjoy and that would be a better time investment for you both. Maybe a theme park, maybe a giant indoor water park, maybe a virtual reality arcade, maybe an escape room, maybe bowling. Something more interactive where you'll be able to have natural conversations with your dad.
