i didn't see it but got the gist of it from summaries and seeing constant threads here. would've been better if it were a group of friends, young, under 30 but not so young like the stranger things crew. but they somehow managed to make it super-boring by having the main characters be lame adults.

what i would've done if i had full creative control:

i guess this type of movie would've been too boring without a scary monster. just being trapped in a maze without any clear exit, food, water, etc is scary but you'd have to be there and experience it from the first POV. even if it were a nice comfy maze with soft places to rest and no monsters, you'd get bored eventually.

i honestly get bored being at the beach sometimes, even though it's relaxing and beautiful. and i've had more fun playing casino games for hours because the risk of making or losing money is engaging. i also get bored at museums even though i like art. i've seen first-timers get flustered inside an IKEA because there aren't any arrows or 100% idiot-proof clear directions, plus there are side openings that make the place feel like a maze. since i've been to my local IKEA many times i know that these are shortcuts. but my first time at a different IKEA, we were there for 3 hrs and i got pissed. that's why i hate going anywhere with other people. they may want to browse for too long.
