>anon posts about how you can noclip into a huge, almost never-ending, same-looking yellow maze>a few years pass>Let’s make it about an evil corporation and some deep metaphorical trauma that changes what you see in the mazeWhy ruin it like this? Why take an interesting concept and turn it into a psychological drama about trauma with mix of horror? We have seen it soo many times.
>>220996072I thought the movie fucking sucked. But likely what happened is the studio demanded a script with typical elements of character development and conflict and shit.
>>220996072>evil corporation What, Async? They don't do anything evil in the movie at all, they're just exploring the backrooms.
The smell of damp carpet was forgotten by everyone who rips off Kane's videos. The original post had everything outlined in a simple format that is maddening to all senses; sight, hearing, feel (physical and psychological) smell (that influences taste and also implies thirst) are all overloaded by an environment that is relatively benign. Everyone includes the same monster that Kane designed but another living thing really isn't necessary for the scenario.
>>220996072>Let’s make it about some deep metaphorical trauma that changes what you see in the mazeAll psychological horrors do this, I assume it's illegal to make psychological horrors in a different way
>>220996072performative criticism you never gave a shit about the original post before the movie came out
I sometimes wonder how the original /x/ poster must feel watching his little thread transform into a multimillion dollar empire. I know I would get angry not cashing in on that shit.
>>220996348how would you do it anon.
>>220996449>performative criticismhis criticism is more than right. backrooms had zero importance in this movie. It could have been a big house with all of that happening, and it would have made zero difference.
>>220996523How would he have cashed in on it? Writing "ORIGINAL IDEA BY ANON (TM)" at the bottom? Doing 1000x the work to turn it into a script just to be lost at the bottom of some giant pile?
>>220996294>Everyone includes the same monster that Kane designed but another living thing really isn't necessary for the scenario.people who shit on backrooms content for including monsters conveniently forgets that the original post explicitly refers to the existence of some kind of hostile entity within the backrooms
>>220996072gen z already ruined it by overexplaining everything >everyone in the backrooms drinks almond water >there's caravans that carry equipment and supplies around the backrooms>there's hundreds of levels of the backrooms >there's cities and towns inside the backrooms>the kind of people in the backrooms include those that were involved in major tragedies like the titanic that's just how they are, you cant just have something vague exist every minute detail has to be explained
>>220996072>why ruin the gay retarded meme
>>220996642nobody's forcing you to embrace all that anon. Just because a good chunk of the anime fandom are vile, pathetic degenerates doesn't stop me from thinking cowboy bebop was kino for instance. Similarly, the existence of some cringey overcomplicated backrooms wiki for 15 year olds doesn't stop me from enjoying stuff like the kane parsons videos (which are excellent).
>>220996666
>>220996253Kane's vision of Async in his youtube shorts is actually that they're not evil at all, however in the movie he refuses to answer Mary's question about what they're gonna do to her or if they'll let her go, which essentially evil-fies them
>>220996294>>220996591>>220996609They're empty rooms. It's not an interesting concept. It's barely even a concept.
It's true these zoomer faggots stole the idea from here.
Backrooms is terrifying to zoomers because the idea is basically what if you had to wait for your dentist appointment and didn't have your phone with you
>>220996689>It's not an interesting concept. It's barely even a concept.maybe to you, but considering how meteorically successful backrooms stuff has been online, not to mention a major movie which is currently financially outcompeting major blockbusters, I'd wager a great many people do seem to find the backrooms interesting>they're empty roomsnow you're just being disingenuous
>>220996705>Wot if u heckin noclipped out of reality like you were in g-modThis shit is basically skibidi toilet
anti-backrooms comments make me happy because it immediately reminds me that millenials are getting old and confused
>>220996720Yeah the average IQ is 100 most popular things are fucking retarded. Like noclipping out of reality into an office building
>>220996545I'd go full Harmony Korine and explore the atmosphere and go all in on creating an immersive scary unknown setting instead of trying to ground it with character drama slop. let it be experimental. the Backrooms is all about a feeling and a mood.
>>220996738>anti-backrooms comments lol
>>220996705>/tv/ invented the Minotaur and the LabyrinthOk.
I'm 36 someone explain to me why zoomers are terrified of hallways and shit
>>220996740your initial point wasn't that it was or wasn't retarded, it's that it wasn't interesting. and it is pretty interesting. as for whether it's retarded I personally find the idea of an extradimensional space with a mind of its own trying to mimic human living spaces but getting it "wrong" far from retarded, unless you think all fiction and horror is retarded.
>>220996744>the 90 minute vibe movieI don't know. I tried watching those original backrooms films Kane made and it was really boring.
Who gives a shit about 'psychological trauma' or 'lore'? The Backrooms is literally just an empty office building. Zoomers are fucking shitting themselves over an liminal space because they've never seen a physical workplace in their lives. The entity in the movie should have just been a 9-to-5 middle manager asking Mary why her spreadsheet wasn't uploaded to the Async cloud, that's real horror you absolute retards.
>>220996738It's not confusing, it's just lame seeing shit from internet culture 15 years ago turning younger people's brains into pudding. It's like they can't handle it or something
>>220996765If they went through an empty hallway they would have to be alone with their thoughts for 3 seconds
I’m at the point of believing this is just the final phase of making 4chan insufferable. Spamming some bullshit that got made into a shitty horror movie and acting like posting anything here just means you’ll be robbed,
>>220996779>The Backrooms is literally just an empty office building. Zoomers are fucking shitting themselves over an liminal space because they've never seen a physical workplace in their liveswhy do people keep saying this? the whole point is that it isn't just an empty office building/hallway and it has nothing to do with being afraid of work. it's about liminal spaces which are a concept which goes back decades. the shining for instance is an excellent example of media that takes advantage of liminal spaces for horror, are you gonna tell me the shining sucked too?
Oi wot if u were in a empty room
>>220996642All you need to do is allow for the concept of an extremely low chance of noclipping into a place with biologically incompatible air that slowly kills you. It literally destroys your brain’s functions, making you feel more and more pain, causing itching, hallucinations, and hypersensitivity to sound, to the point where even the slightest movement drives you insane and makes you want it to stop and this applies to all alive beings. Then you noclip a normal, hard-working guy who’s doing his best for his family and watch him go crazy. This would have been a good psychological movie and explain things quite a bit.But no, let's make everything as complicated and retarded as possible, also add trauma and shiet.
>>220996786whose brains are being turned into pudding? or rather how is the backrooms specifically turning anyone's brains into pudding?
>>220996072"Liminal spaces" being scary to zoomers might be the dumbest fucking shit I've ever heard of. Stop being faggots.
>>220996072Where was this originally?
>>220996738>anti-skibidi toilet comments make me happy because it immediately reminds me that zoomers are getting old and confused
The truth is everything actually gets progressively stupider from one generation to the next.
Why does musty carpet and yellow wallpaper upset zoomers? Did they not have grandparents?
>>220996851Imagine how smart the cavemans were
>>220996820liminal spaces have been a concept in horror for as long as horror movies have been around retard, it isn't a new thing. hell the concept of certain physical spaces being inherently eerie due to the abnormal absence of people is a concept as old as civilisation and storytelling itself. you could even trace it back to the instinct humans (and most animals) get that you're in danger if you're in the woods and suddenly all the animals and birds go quiet / disappear. All I mean to say is I think it's disingenuous to pretend that the backrooms concept doesn't tap into a very real source of fear or dread in the human psyche. have you ever been alone in the woods at night? or alone in an abandoned building unexpectedly? it's a weird feeling.
>>220996820They were never meant to be scary, just interesting/uncanny aesthetics.
>>220996072Is that a heckin office building
>>220996870>or alone in an abandoned building unexpectedly?Rest assured there is probably a friendly homeless man protecting you from the shadows in this situation
>is that... a meme I don't understand?>I'M GOING INSANE SAVE ME NIGGERMANwhat's up with millenials
Zoomers unironically think they discovered the concept of existential dread with the backrooms. They legitimately had never encountered the idea before and mock everyone else for not getting it. It's insane how stupid they are.
>>220996938zoomers are only generation dumber than previous one.
what if it's a sign of what afterlife looks like?you died and you end up in the backrooms
>>220996962but are there other people? especially catgirls from other planets?
>>220996957actually pretty much every generation since the guys who fought WW2 have been getting progressively more retarded
>>220996072Imagine you were in a yellow room and it smelled bad
>>220996763The Minotaur existed prior to the Labyrinth which was purpose built to contain him. There is no discernible purpose to the Backrooms or whatever monsters that can be found there.
>>220996072What if you have diarrhea in the backrooms
What if it was called the Batrooms and it's just a bunch of bats and the occasional robert pattinson
>>220996880>They were never meant to be scaryIt's a more clean and urban version of the catacombs in Odessa. Once you lose your way there, you really start freaking out quickly. There were similar tunnels in the city where are used to leave, but I avoided going into them. Too easy to lose your composure and get lost even in the somewhat small ones, not to mention the ones spanning throughout whole city.
>>220997073What does any of that have to do with anything
>>220996072>>Let’s make it about an evil corporation and some deep metaphorical trauma that changes what you see in the mazeso, the corporation is not evil, and also, your mental state does not change what you see in the backroomsbut I can see why you might come away with that impression since the movie is pretty ambiguous
>>220996072>Whyjews and commies, sometimes also the same thing at once
>>220997112What if it was called the Bandrooms and every room had a different band playing in it.

>>220996685>Kane's vision of Async in his youtube shorts is actually that they're not evil at allNot true given what happened to the missing researcher who went AWOL after ASYNC faked his death and covered it up.
>>220997817it was noteworthy that the young chad found a copy of his own "End Apartheid" t-shirt in the backrooms laundry, and how towards the end Mary just happened to find herself in a Backrooms version of Calvin's store, which also happened to be near the entrance to the Async portal. I didn't have a problem with it because the whole premise runs on dream logic anyway but someone whose autistic enough to try to derive a set of rules about how it works could probably try.
>>220996685that's what happens when you say yes to DoE funding, glowniggers get the last word and you can't say yes or no to simple questions anymorethe shit they pulled with Peter Tench was already pretty shady from the beginning so I don't think the movie "evil-fied" them at all
>>220997934that's human fallibility, not what "evil" means in a cosmic horror story. evil would be if they are trying to use the backrooms to mind control the public, or worshiping demons that created it, something of that nature.
>>220996685>what they're gonna do to her or if they'll let her go, which essentially evil-fies thembecause they're obviously controlled by the US government and can't let her go because she knows about the extra-dimensional oblivion realm they're still studying.that's totally normal human paranoia. she'll probably end up working for them.
>>220996072Do you know why LIMINAL HORROR has become such a big thing amongst this generation? It's because if you were born within the last 20-25 years you have been bombarded with stimuli every waking moment from TV, the internet etc.... and never known a single moment of actual silence.Try this, find an empty room with nothing making any type of noise, doesn't matter of there's stuff in it, as long as it's not moving.Close your eyes for a few minutes and just listen. Don't hear anything, right? Now keep your eyes closed and then plug your ears with your fingers for a few minutes. What you are experiencing is total silence and when you take your fingers out of your ears, with your eyes still closed, you will notice the difference and it's the ambient noise radiating from everything around you that you don't notice because you're soo used to it!The Earth is constantly moving but, just because you don't feel it directly, it doesn't mean that it doesn't cause everything on it to reverberate in some manner, so when you sit in a room and hear this low level ambience, it's everything around you being affected in a way that is imperceptible to humans unless you pay attention to it like you would with my experiment!Anywho, where I'm going with this is that liminal backrooms scare millenials/zoomer's because the second you take away any/all forms of stimuli it creates a sense of unease as they've never known that sort of silence, causing fear within their subconscious that something is wrong and why their minds start to cave in on themselves and go insane from experiencing existential Horror beyond their comprehension.https://youtu.be/reCo_zcWF4Q?si=aGlvYyAV5ULMybd9!!!FACT!!!
If I may be serious in this shitposting thread for a moment, one thing I do genuinely think adds to the horror of the Backrooms in the film is how few "doors" there are. Like, you wander through these empty hallways, but there is this kind of "exposure" to your backside as you explore around. I know there are a few doors and fake doors in the film, but that was mostly during chase sequences to act as a temporary obstacle, not exploration when the tension is mounting
>>220996609I see. But do people shit on the fact that most Backrooms content is 90% Kane Parsons rip-offs who post the same scenarios but with different renders?"God save you if you hear something moving around back there, because it sure as hell has heard you."Yes yes we know. And it's a loud screaming thing every single time.It gets boring and predictable. They tried to make it different for the theatrical version, and they did the process correctly with the hostile creature. But they fucked up by having a convenient way of exiting.
>>220996765>terrified of hallways and shitAre you sure it's that and not the thought of being lost in an endless maze with no hope of escape or rest?
>>220996844A Hobby store in Wisconsin. Used to be a furniture store.
>>220996738Maybe i am too old but i just don't "get it." I think it could be a really cool thing but its only really ever told on a surface level and isn't that deep or meaningful which makes me lose interest
>>220996523>>220996600Everyone says this, but to be fair, he posted an empty room and said you could get teleported there, and it was everyone else who ran with it beyond that. Like, the guy who first posted about Crystal Cove didn't come up with everything, it was like 50 people joining in. Most original ideas get tentacled.>>220996720I'll admit what we got is pretty palatable for normies. Some would argue too blatant and on the nose. But then again, what exactly did you want to happen that would've been satisfying? Nothing, like in most of the shorts?
>>221000329>Most original ideas get tentacled.I know it's called rule 34
I'm drinking right now, on rum and coke, about to send my ex-gf who dumped me 6 months ago a stupid-ass text about "hey, I found those [collectible bullshit] you gave me, did you ever finish collecting all of them?" to see if she'll even reply, so I can convince her to see this movie with me. I have new pussy already but she doesn't like horror movies. My ex loved them. She's probably already getting fucked by black guys but whatever. I don't know anyone else who will go see this with me. She was real apologetic while dumping me and told me to text her when I got home, but I was pissed at her for doing it 3 days after meeting my parents that i never did, she never texted me to ask if I made it home safe, I don't know why women say that bullshit. I figure maybe if I text her and tell her I'm getting a new job she'll be interested. But honestly would just see me as betabucks. I fucking hate this gay earth. I'm 31 and my life is a wreck. /blog, I don't give a fuck. I'm doing it tonight so I can finally get her out of my mind. and maybe I'll at least get a date to see this movie with, if nothing else.
>>221000000
Because making a movie takes more than just two lines about an "interesting concept", you need an actual cohesive story with themes that are relatableSkinamarink is what happens when you have a "neat idea" that you just want to film without bothering to make a real story - you know, the part that makes the movie actually interesting beyond the 2 seconds it takes to think about a concept and say "oh cool" and move on. Something that sticks with you?
>>220996642I blame the Zoomer obsession with this kind of thing on Youtube videos analyzing the "DEEP LORE" of things like Adventure Time, Gravity Falls, Don't Hug Me I'm Scared, Five Nights at Freddy's, etc.
>>220996072i just got back from seeing it. I was very invested until the therapist went into the backrooms and then all the monologuing and exposition with the main character ruined it. I hated that third act. Would never watch this again
>>220997073I imagine the Backrooms as a "lower dimension" that is in-between the 3rd and 2nd dimension, which is why it's a warped reflection of our reality. It's just a random cosmological coincidence; with portals appearing randomly throughout space and time. The creatures could be from other universes, or just warped reflections of things humans imagine.
>>220996072>backrooms creates copies of people>these copies range from hostile predators to passive if cooperative creatures>superficial errors in the copies, still mostly resembles the personThere's a nonzero chance that the Backrooms is spawning your literal dream girl. Cartoon characters, OF girls, that one crush you totally embarrassed yourself in front of, they're all roaming the backrooms. Think about it anons, I bet you Async is really in the market for hunting top tier clone pussy. Prime Megan fox with only a few extra eyes or warped face.
>>221001215Crazy, the third act was the best part for me. The reenacting of the therapy session, the chase with the monster, really had me on the edge of my seat.

i didn't see it but got the gist of it from summaries and seeing constant threads here. would've been better if it were a group of friends, young, under 30 but not so young like the stranger things crew. but they somehow managed to make it super-boring by having the main characters be lame adults.what i would've done if i had full creative control:>group of 5 friends get lost in the backrooms, and one by one they go insane, losing trust in each other. only 2 survive. the environment leads them to act viciously, question their friendship and reality itself.i guess this type of movie would've been too boring without a scary monster. just being trapped in a maze without any clear exit, food, water, etc is scary but you'd have to be there and experience it from the first POV. even if it were a nice comfy maze with soft places to rest and no monsters, you'd get bored eventually.i honestly get bored being at the beach sometimes, even though it's relaxing and beautiful. and i've had more fun playing casino games for hours because the risk of making or losing money is engaging. i also get bored at museums even though i like art. i've seen first-timers get flustered inside an IKEA because there aren't any arrows or 100% idiot-proof clear directions, plus there are side openings that make the place feel like a maze. since i've been to my local IKEA many times i know that these are shortcuts. but my first time at a different IKEA, we were there for 3 hrs and i got pissed. that's why i hate going anywhere with other people. they may want to browse for too long.thanks for reading my blogpost. liek commint subscribe>ayooo look at dis millenial unc maldin cuz he didnt make da backroomsenjoy your media slop i guess
>>221001345The portals or null zones only started appearing after Async created the threshold with their 6th low proximity magnetic distortion system test. So far there are only two kinds of creature there. One being the still life kind created by the complex itself the other being the result of a mutated bacteria and/or slime mold. Kane parson the director has thought about how all of this works and dropped hints about this in his youtube series even going so far as to say that the protagonist and antagonist of the story is Async scientist Ivan Beck who during a failed particle acceleration/fusion experiment in 1972 lost an eye and some of his memory which became the starting point for the complex. then when Async successfully opened it up in 1989 it started expanding and changing particularly around the aforementioned null zones.
This setting is good for vibing but if you want to tell a story suitable for a movie it naturally gets generic.

In short he is Ahab and the backrooms are his white whale. Kane is on record saying Ivan is both the protagonist and the antagonist of the story as a whole.
