Is Bridget Jones Diary the pinnacle of foid kino?

It's the rare movie aimed at women I can tolerate because the female protagonist isn't desirable so I don't have to seethe about her getting to pick between two Chads
>>
>>221244470
the less hollywood-desirable zigwaggler is the more desirable i find her. peaked in cold mountain i reckon.
>>
How can she even stand?
>>
>>221244470
>this was considered comically ugly and fat in the early 2000s
>>
>>221244546
Except it wasn't, she's just supposed to be average.
>>
>>221244561
Nah anon, the script literally treats her like she's obese when she weighs like 136 lbs. The early 2000s media landscape was absolutely deranged. If you weren't built like Keira Knightley, you were considered a landwhale.
>>
>>221244635
That wasn't my impression.
It was just a woman obsessing about her weight.
>>
>>221244635
>The early 2000s media landscape was absolutely deranged. If you weren't built like Keira Knightley, you were considered a landwhale.
We had standards back then
>>
>>221244635
the movie just portrays her as kind of dumpy, but that was when a woman her age was supposed to be married or at least engaged. a single 30 year old woman used to be a spinster before society collapsed.
>>
>>221244635
that's bullshit. They really wanted everyone to react like you are, saying "gee she's not REALLY fat" this was aimed at women after all.
>>
>>221244546
she is fat, though
>>
>>221244635
she isn't obese but she definitely is fat
>>
>>221244470
Unironically it's Twilight.
In terms of ROI it's the most profitable franchise in the history of American cinema.
And it's still selling merch to this day.
>>
>>221244635
disgusting fat hands wrote this.
stop believing that shit. It is crazy that Americans today think anything below 24 BMI is "dangerously skinny".
>>
>>221245020
I still watch Bridget Jones Diary from time to time because it's just a good movie, I watched the Twilight saga with my gf once and it was a painful experience
>>
>>221245099
>I watched the Twilight saga with my gf once and it was a painful experience
I don't believe you tho.
What I think actually happened is you watched the first thirty minutes of the first movie and switched it off right before it started getting good.
>>
>>221245108
It's unbearably slow and moody and nothing fucking happens, I've seen all five movies with her and can barely remember anything but it made her happy so I powered through
>>
>>221245129
>It's unbearably slow and moody and nothing fucking happens,
Yeah for the first 30 minutes, which is the part you watched, alone, because your girlfriend is imaginary.

Then the baseball game happens and drama starts and the story gets interesting because Bella has crossed the threshold from her mundane existence into the urban fantasy.
>>
>>221245160
none of that drama shit is interesting in the slightest
>>
>>221244635
Haven't seen the movie but in the book it's apparent that most of her weight obsession is in her own head and the result of her own negative self image, and nobody else thinks she's fat. Maybe the movie portrayed it more shallowly.
I do think there's a decline in media literacy lately though because I see so many comments about how "The Devil Wears Prada wants us to think that Andy was fat, omg the 2000s were so horrible!" when the fact that she's obviously already skinny is literally the joke and a riff on the fashion industry wanting models that look like actual skeletons.
>>
>>221244635
136lbs at 5'2 with zero muscle is fat especially at her age, she's not an old grandma after 8 pregnancies
literally the ONLY thing women need to do is to not be fat nothing else and they still fail

oh noo not the modeling industry and its disgusting skeletons. we need to get more fatties in there, stat
>>
>>221245198
Only someone who either hasn't seen it, or is an unironic moron, would actually say that.
>>
>>221245493
only a woman would disagree. or should. sincerely, there's something wrong with you. go get some shark cartilage pills or something.
>>
>>221245493
Or someone who's not a foid self-inserting.
Or a tranny pretending to be the fotmer, like you, apparently.
>>
>>221245160
Anon I think you just like those movies and can’t imagine anybody else not being able to engage with them
>>
>>221244635
>2000s media landscape was absolutely deranged
Nope. Women at the time thought she was pretty fat (at least for this movie).
>>
>>221245268
>I do think there's a decline in media literacy lately
I actually think it's a bit more specific to hollywood than a broader trend. If you watch both anime and hollywood you notice that anime has really gone hard on genre development in the last 10 years or so, even taking the bread and butter genres of isekai and shonen are expanding them out with experiments into things like villainess and post-work society stuff.

Hollywood on the other hand has ditched genres that really were profitable but had political elements that the twitterati found objectionable. The romcom was the most obvious victim of this but there were actually heaps. That got replaced by an endless sludge of period dramas and girlbosses in comic book films.

Meanwhile Netflix and Hallmark have been making the foidslop, have been doing it successfully, but that's not being watched or cared about by the twitterati, this then only gets noticed when a hollywood legacy tries to remake a genre that outgrew itself 15 years which does get the attention of the twitterati who lack understanding of the genre because the genre is actually dead.

Boylove anime/manga outsells all of hollywood combined now, and yet hollywood racebends the shit out of Interview With a Vampire because they don't want to put any LGBTQ themes in it. It's not even an aversion to risk, it's just twitter and wokism has absolutely paralyzed hollywood's ability to do anything at all.
>>
>>221245507
>>221245512
>>221245594
Yeah, this is a thread about foidslop.
THAT SAID, insecure males who haven't actually seen it but want to perform how cishet they are all sound the same.
While actual enjoyers of films for what they are can watch twilight through and appreciate it's quality storytelling, EVEN when it's in a genre that doesn't appeal to them.

This is one of the earliest propaganda pieces. From the gay best friend, to making women believe they could focus on building their career, and somehow end up with Mr. Right in the end.
She even goes on to have a baby in Bridget Jones's Baby, and the 2 potential fathers end up sticking around hoping the baby is theirs. It's literal insanity.
Post having her baby, she's back on the dating market, and they sell women on the idea that she can even attract younger men in her 50s as a single mother.
It's there to convince women, no matter where you are in your life, you'll always have options no matter what.
If this isn't foid kino, I don't know what is
>>
>>221244635
Are fat people literally retarded??

>noooo your beauty standards are too high !!!
>wahhh I ate 5000 calories again today, I can't stop !!!! my thyroid!!!

I wish all fatties killed themselves immediately desu

*Bridget Jones's Diary
>>
>>221244635
Keira actually got tons of shit from the media for being too skinny, she even famously sued a tabloid over it and won.
>>
>>221244704
Yeah, people stopped making passive aggressive remarks to women about their weight and now we're surrounded by wheelchair bound diabetics. Men fell for the thicc meme without applying it properly and we're stuck with gigantic women with no sex appeal twerking over our flaccid dongs
>>
>>221246261
Dude have you not heard about the age of ozempic?
All those landwhales are suddenly all for beauty standards now they've got the magic weightloss drug.
>>
>>221246430
Yeah but they look weird and saggy skin looks terrible underneath those clothes
>>
>>221246519
The age of ozempic has begun.
The age of the bimbo is yet to begin.
Natty is obsolete.

It turns out it was a glandular thing the whole time.
>>
>>221244635
it's just that they hired an established actress to play a character from a book. No one ever thought Rene Zelwigger(not looking up the spelling) was ugly.
If anything it's a fantasy for actual ugly women. They like to imagine they *only* look as homely as Bridget. You have to understand how these companies think.
>>
>>221246544
God I wanted to furiously facefuck the old Kelly Osbourne for days. You couldn't pay the current version to touch my dick.
>>
>>221247346
Gross.
She was an opinionated pig with a room temperature IQ and a rich jew upbringing.
Literally the anti-sex.
>>
>>221245479
This is still hot as fuck, jesus
>>
>>221246544
These women are all gonna die from organ failure in 10 years from these drugs
>>
>>221247501
And you're going to die of obesity complications at about the same time.
At least they'll die thin.
>>
>>221246544
yeah but on top of ozempic she had buccal fat removal
>>
>>221247562
Doubt it.
Ozempic does that as a side effect.
I'm pretty sure she just had a facelift.
>>
>>221244497
Her red carpet looks tend to be better than her film characters. And she's a reliable high heel slut that's for sure, never seen her in flats.
>>
>>221247519
>simping for Ozempic ghouls
beyond pathetic

She seems to like Louboutins that's for sure. Btw if you haven't seen Down With Love, check it out. Renee and Ewan McGregor star, it's part homage part parody of the Doris Day/Rock Hudson comedies (Pillow Talk in particular). Directed by the guy who did Bring It On. Underrated kino imo.
