My theory is simple, the backrooms are a sort of projection of human memories much like the warp in 40k irradiating from Earth's core upwards. (In ancient times people would reach it through caves and believe it to be hell) and the overpopulation during the late 20th century resulted in the earth being saturated with memories that started physically pushing further and further above-ground untill eventually it started fusing with buildings and houses. In turn captain clark isn't a result solely of Clark's own memories but a combination of his wife, his therapist, and all the people who watched his ads seeing him as a pathetic monster constantly craving attention, wich the backrooms just fused his drunken lash-outs with hunger, because to it, a result of human memory, attention IS food and the harder people remember things the more solid they become

Im too much of a zoomer to give up like that

Imagine like, historically, what would be the strongest memories people had? For a peasant living in the middle ages it would probably be those times they saw people get burnt at the stake, publicly executed, tortured, suffering, so thats what the backrooms of their period looked like; hell. For a person living in ancient mesopotamia, the dust, mud, scorching heat, hence the backrooms looked like Irkallu, the dusty realm of the dead. We only got to see the american backrooms, but probably most of the backrooms looks like a series of chinese commieblocks and favelas from all the indians, indonesians, africans, chinese, etcetera imprinting their memories onto it. At the end of the movie it mentions that the "doors" keep appearing everywhere and the way people talk, how kane's husband and even she forgot they're married, how a fucking radiology company of all people is the one investigating the event. These to me implies society is quietly collapsing outside the backrooms from people going missing and the resulting population loss will eventually shrink the backrooms and undo the events

historical backrooms is a cool idea
>>
>>221254852
That would imply medieval people wandering there for millenia or time itself being fucked by the backrooms, wich is even more interesting
>>
the lore isnt the point, its just an excuse for spooky liminal space atmosphere and the movie did a great job at that. set design was godly
>>
>>221254603
this movie fucking sucks. who cares about the backrooms, anyway? not the guys who made the movie; all they care about is feefees and trauma.
zoomers are a generation of soft ass bitches
worthless
>>
>>221254929
Imagine how much it would ruin the movie if the sequel just shat all over the mystery and had a faggot with glasses say all this out loud
>>
>>221254929
The lore is definitely the point of the film though. They went to a LOT of effort to psychologize the whole thing.
>>
"The real horror is human existence" niggas ruined horror movies.

>the backrooms are a sort of projection of human memories much like the warp in 40k irradiating from Earth's core upward
That was my takeaway too. Either that or a collection of alternate realities, but it seems to be fed by human emotion/memories like the warp.
>>
>>221257107
Its definitely memories more than emotions, specially cus the layers scene with the psychologist shows how the less people (in this case her house) remember things the more abstract and broken they become, but you couldn't really say she "stopped feeling" the place because shes projecting her inhability to help her mother onto clark and constantly thinking about him is what makes the pirate clark so massive and strong

Unless clark was the one constantly watching his own ad wich the movie shows the opposite

Why not just call it the noosphere?
>>
>>221254603
I like to think that it would appear different in different contexts, like knights are getting the endless dungeon or something.

I think The Black Lodge in Twin Peaks' deep lore is kind of like this too. Canonically, premodern Indians and Meriweather Lewis have been inside, and described it mostly as just "red", and it makes no sense for it to have the art deco look at that time in history, so I figure the apparent look of it is coming from humans' psyche in some way.

when is the torrent ever gonna release?
The one on yify is a fucking .exe file lmao

its all camrips right now, just wait for the digital release before torrenting
>>
>>221254852
The idea of a knight or ancient people wandering into a fucking empty Ikea is far too visually hilarious for me to take seriously
>>
>>221254603
The movie literally fucking spells it out for you that the backrooms remembers people and locations and that, like real memories, they continously get more distorted as it misremembers and blurs details together

More like there was a knight wandering for so long he straight up saw how the world outside progressed from farms to factories to office building and he understands firsthand how dogshit modern life has become because he saw the rooms expand massively with human memories of mining coal and making plastic toys on a chinese factory. Like by now that 1st crusade knight that entered a cave on anatolia and never came back is wandering around the Pakistani backrooms witnessing culinary abominations his eyes were never ment to see

>much like the warp in 40k irradiating from Earth's core upwards
I don't know the first thing about 40K, but that god damn franchise seems to pop up for every theme and subject, just how fucking massive is it? thought it was just big dudes in armor shooting big guns

>the backrooms remembers stuff and makes copies
I hope the sequel explores this further because this movie didn't do much with it. If the copies don't age and die naturally, imagine if there are wandering deformed cavemen and giant prehistoric animals roaming that place.

>>221258019
40k is pretty much built on the idea that it has something for basically any flavour of autist there is

A deformed t-rex or something prowling in there would unironically be top tier kino but you'd probably have the fart huffing zoomer faggots complaining that it "cheapens the authentic metaphor for the meaning of human suffering" or some gay midwit shit like that
