The AI gets a glimpse of the larger world and the real lives of the other characters outside the Circus and realizes he fucked up. I watched it. I think the writing didn't hit many many times. Sometimes I even thought it was cringe. But it did hit sometimes, and when it did, it was rather effective. So I don't regret my time with the show. I wish there was more about the protagonist, rather than just using her as a vehicle to progress the story forward. Also, regarding Jax, he was an interesting character, but he's a bit derivative. I've seen characters eerily similar in other media I consumed, so I wasn't invested in him so much, that I wanted the culminating point of the entire series to be about him. But it's fine. I think the creator meant for him to be a closeted trans person, but that fact seems completely inconsequential and tacked on. If it's not going to be a major plot point, then why even mention it at all? It's a problem I have with a lot of LGBT characters in general. Sometimes it's just mentioned that "he's gay, btw", and then nothing else is done with it. If it's essentially irrelevant, why even specify it? It's just gratuitous.
