>have a 4 year old kid who is finally able to sit through and understand movies
>watch all the pixar/disney movies with her that i saw when i was a kid
>can't help but cry at all the 'sad' scenes that i didn't even bat a lash at when i saw them as a kid myself

fuck man, i even know that the sad scenes are temporary like when Sully says goodbye to Boo in Monsters Inc, but I can't help it. Especially if it plays on the parent/child dynamic in some way. I'm trying to bite my tongue to distract me from crying, but it never works. Anyone else struggle with this embarrassing shit? My wife and daughter don't even cry at those scenes, as they reassure me that I'm going to be okay as I roll my eyes at them and wait for the next scene.

Never have kids, bros. It's too humbling of an experience.
>>
My son is 4 and can't sit still for long enough to get through the studio intros without running off and breaking shit or trying to turn on the toaster without bread in it. I sort've wish liberals were having kids so that they'd be in school with him because I know he's going to terrorise kids once he's shipped off.
>>
>>221333060
your T drops significantly when you have kids otherwise youd just shout at them them when theyre being annoying
>>
>>221333060
>weak men like this are having children
>>
>>221333060
The best cure for this is to stop being such a fucking pussy.
Don't get too engrossed in the movies. They're fucking popcorn flicks. Treat them as such
>>
>>221333133
try to make momma do more of the caretaking if youre worried about this (you should be cause its going to make ur wifes pussy dry up)
the more caretaking time the lower it goes

A sweet, manmade grammar horrors beyond my comprehension!
>>
>>221333060
you're going to raise weak children if you model that behavior to them. sack up.
>>
>>221334664
Nah, it's good for children to learn that they don't need to repress their emotions.
>>

give me a break. I’m a big bearded metalhead guy with tattoos and this happens to me. I watched cars 3 and cried so hard I threw up on my recliner, had to ask my daughter to go get my klonopin.
we see these movies in a different light when we’re grown ups.
>>
>>221334858
its not for boys. a boy with unregulated emotions will either get bullied & be a school shooter or get bullied & become transgender

I'm 24 with no kids. I got drunk alone and watched Glengarry Glen Ross and then the original SpongeBob movie. I cried a lot both during the scene where S&P dry up in shell city and the end credits songs. I forgot I had watched the movie dozens and dozens of times as a child. I knew basically every line. I don't think I've ever cried at a movie prior to that. Hope this helpz
>>
>>221334895
It's kinda like your shitty beard, long hair, tattoos and bad taste in music can't disguise the fact that you're a massive vagina underneath it all, woah.
>>
>>221333060
You're just getting old anon. I suggest you kill yourself.
>>
>>221333060
dude wtf never cry in front of a woman
>>
>>221333060
I don't trust someone who doesn't cry during at least some movies. If they don't, it means they never developed empathy. There's nothing embarassing about it, but I'm concerned about your wife. Performative empathy vs actual. 'You'll be okay' vs actually feeling something. She is presumably at least 25, she should have empathy by now. Perhaps she needs to suffer.

Top kek, this has to be (very funny) bait
>>

>Especially if it plays on the parent/child dynamic in some way
wow its almost like these movies were made for the parents plot wise and for the kids with character and silliness wise.
But maybe Nemo's message of not being a helicopter parent was actually meant for the kids themselves

>I'm a big bearded metalhead guy with tattoos and this happens to me.
>"I'm a performative male and this happens to me."
And?
If you want to convince me you're manly, don't tell me what you look like. That's shallow neurotypical shit. Tell me what the worst hurt you've ever been through was. Tell me about a time you did something that took courage, and why you did it. Tell me about the closest you've come to dying. Those are the things that make a man, not your reddit beard or bathroom scribbles.

no disrespect my man, but it seems you are autistic and not functioning very highly. and possibly quite young. your interpretation and response to my post is a little baffling.
>>
>>221337879
Is this the best insult a performative male can come up with? Jesus. You even have to hide behind 'no disrespect' like you're scared of getting downvoted without a pretext.
Man up.

if you can't cure yourself of this weakness by the time he gets old enough to remember things then he's never going to respect you. i didn't see my father cry once throughout my childhood.

You know, I've also noticed that I'm a bit more emotionally pulled by television and film now in my 30's. I never cried watching anything since I was like 5 or 6, but now I get sad and might have a single tear sneak up on me. Felt jack shit in my 20's but I still enjoyed the movies.

Parenting kinda resets your brain. Having nieces/nephews or mentees does too to a lesser extent. We get jaded and cynical as we get old but get to rediscover things while our children discover them.

It rounds the edge off your politics too. You're not an overly-idealistic liberal moonbat or some libertarian asshole who doesn't care about the common good either. You want to preserve family traditions and have a stable safe society but you can also empathize with people who've fallen through the cracks.

I've noticed a similar thing with religion. Decided to get confirmed as an adult and just doing little rituals and prayers feels amazing. I feel like my heart as softened up a bit. I deleted my /pol/ memes and feel more morally centered.

You lost me there. I'm a metaphysical naturalist and that's just too silly. Might as well start throwing salt over your shoulder and observing superstitions, watch out! a black cat! I crossed the road to avoid it and now I FEEL much better. lol
