I didn't watch this movie because I've always thought the idea was kind of dumb. I mean, someone who gets deluded by an AI is probably a fucking retard whose story isn't interesting...But recently I've started to see that some "smart" people really do get deluded by AIs, and in my view, it's mainly about the ego. My obsessive, possessive brother, who thinks he's the center of the universe, is HIGHLY deluded by ChatGPT right now. He boasted the other day about how he has intelligent scientific conversations with it, so I decided to test it out and quickly understood the problem: ChatGPT (and Gemini too, which might use the same model?) is EXTREMELY biased toward making the user think they're saying something interesting or intelligent. I posted some shitty remarks, and the AI tried to stroke my ego several times during the conversation, even though I was just typing common sense…The way these LLMs interact with users is going to create a serious problem for egocentric people, narcissists, etc. In their desperation not to offend the user, these models are idolizing what users write, and they do so convincingly, as if they were a wise teacher praising a gifted student.....

Meaning their outputs are unpredictable but "passably coherent" in a way that makes us think they're thinking. But there's no reasoning behind it. Also they don't scale well at all and fall into predictable OVERALL patterns and are not reliable due to the non-deterministic nature of their design. They're a technological dead-end.
