I recently got into a phase where I started watching mutt comedians. Basic bitch material, to be sure, but I am a europoor so you'll have to bear with me. I watched some George Carlin specials and left satisfied, even in awe at some points. Bill Hicks isn't nowhere as "against the system" as he must have been when he was alive, but still good and the best at sound effects by a big margin (kek). C. K. Louis was maybe the best at making me laugh, and went to places I saw nobody else go for a bit, even if I found his comedy less incisive than the rest.But this guy... what the fuck, America? I started to watch him because I read people hailing him as one of the best, if not the best, comedian to ever exist, and that motherfucker goes and makes a monologue about his mother's suicide that is only mildly funny! How bad do you have to be to achieve that?! Everytime I listen to him it's just a drunk man talking, constantly slurring and pausing like he doesn't know what to say, and then the comments will praise his delivery as masterful. His comedy, that consists of complaining about everything like an overtly edgy 20 year old, the sort you would ask to shut the fuck up, apparently grants him the status of a "Diogenes of our time".He still hasn't managed to make me laugh honestly even once, and at this point I am willing to admit it must be a me problem, but I would like somebody to reply and tell me where exactly have I got it wrong with this man.
