A massive center habitat sphere with large viewing windows. A command center and vital systems spire both top and bottom. A docking ring for logistics. Vertical beams for quick travel between the spires and docking rings. It all makes sense. The proportions are more utilitarian than the finalized design of DS9.

Just watching Strange New Worlds. They should just ditch the sci-fi stuff. Make the show entirely about relationships and eating, socialising.

>>223574416Not got there yet. Watching 4.5 Vulcans. My sides are in orbit.
>>223573748Season 3 of Picard in the best, not just for that series but all nu-trek.
>>223573680Reminds me of that POS rebuilt DS9 frim the EU.
>>223574416>The puppet and soap opera episodeWhenever I hear about SNW, it sounds like wannabe writers who couldn’t get on other shows turning Star Trek into the show they actually want to write for.
>>223573680The whole AI thing has really exposed how spiritually decedent, and depraved Star Trek really was all along. They are always going around creating fully fledged consciousness like the talmudic fairy tales of gods creating men as tools to spare them from labor. They declare themselves creator of consciousness and then they go back to the ship and everyone is on their third divorce and they just laugh about it. Marriage and men and women? We’ll NEVER figure that one out. Beverly and Jack Crusher as tragic love story but who cares they would’ve surely been divorced before Wesley even reached maturity. Nobody has any vices though and they don’t even draw salaries they just do things out of the goodness of their heart. Nobody can find it in the goodness of their hearts to stay married to their spouse though. I remember they had Picard and Beverly married and then divorced already at some point in expositive dialogue in a terrible episode. What the hell for?? To just shit on a matter and a resource of sanctifying our consciousness, I think. Totally bankrupt boomer spirituality through and through. And Barclay with his autismo fantasies. The disgust from all the members of the crew. Der Boomers number one priority stamping out and shitting on neuro-atypical white men. And just the Infinite capacity for spacial, and material exploration or at least the propaganda of it but absolutely zero patience for exploration of consciousness, let alone the soul. Star Fleet was so pozzed man, straight out of the gate.
>>223574763I can't say you're wrong. This episode in particular showed how ugly those people really were.
>>223574763Holy heck, this guy sure is smarter than everyone! He's cracked the code.
This scene was great.
Lower Decks is a show designed for retards and faggots.
>>223573748Even though I can't stand nutrek, you should watch Picard S3
>>223575790>>223574540>>223574242Don't listen to them, S3 is just as bad.
>>223575808No matter how bad you think S3 is, I can't believe you would put it in the same level of shit as S2. That gets its own tier of shit.
>>223575790>muh Picard season 3I'll never understand how this psyop worked on people.
>>223574952I don't even begrudge them putting Picard in villain colors and villain lighting. Story context aside, the show is wrapping up.. Stewart is a huge talent... they are experimenting and seeing what audiences think. They want to shop him as more of a known quantity. See what his range is.Great! Fine with me. See how there is a shadow over his brow? His head is in lower lighting right at the frontal lobe. Star Trek does this all the time with shadow and light when good guys are doing good guy things they've got lights all round their head you can practically see the circuits working. Again, fine with me. The way those lights in the background of him are pointed down, they don't shine light above themselves, it's all just shadows above. Genius stuff. But they spared none of it for matters of the soul or anything but a cursory, post-modern hand-waving of consciousness. Every now and then a jewish space wizard comes along or a magic minority. They can be esoteric and otherworldly, profound. But for Star Fleet there's no room for exploration there. Every Terran is an atheist and it’s basically strictly enforced. Unless you are some kind of Star Trek minority like Klignon or Bajoran. Heck Data is a practical insane asylum of wild psychological episodes and it’s just tolerated. Barclay had to be banished though because he’s awkward. For a show that is pretty much all about the journey of a soul going upwards, it offers humanity nothing but spiritual poverty. And don’t even get me started on the Prime Directive, everyone’s favorite moralism. It's disguised racism. Right? It’s just disguised racism.. Softer, evolutionary scientific racism, but racism nonetheless which is a sin according to their own rules and the rules of boomers. It's all technological and career bullshit with the added conceit of we don't need any money to do this. On a spiritual level it's boomer slop on par with The Big Bang Theory please can we admit that at least?
That scene in Picard S3 when they all got together again and Riker did the chair stepover sit down move was a real fist pumping moment.
>>223575861Meds.
>>223575854Mike told them to like it because they used a shitty TNG bridge replica for a brief moment, and he hates the TNG movies (deservedly so t b h), and it retconned the D being a lost cause

>>223574763>>223575861Thank you, Ensign Ro Rogan
>>223575899Why because I’m suggesting there might be art direction on the show? I guess thats become a sin in the modern day too. They borrowed halos from art because story telling. Get over it.
>>223575959No as a huge defender of the TNG movies even I have to say it's shit and could've been way better had everyone involved not phoned it in so hard

>>223575959The buggy is stupid but you have to admit that Starfleet would need some sort of land vehicle.
>>223573748since you made through discovery s3 you should watch s4 and then end it there. s5 is unnecessary trash that up-heaves the rest of the series but 4 actually ends on a pretty solid note.

>>223576453Love how Combs plays each one slightly different from the last
>>223576464it's such a smart thing to do because as the show goes on it's not like most shows where the same character would have to magically get stupider for certain things to happen. in this case it's literally a different guy and he's stupider because he was cloned wrong as a prank.
>>223576464He definitely did a good job giving each clone a personality.
>>223576447Two of them involve literally escaping by climbing out of big holesBronson doesn't have a literal hole but the third act is him seeing a chance to escape and even getting a mentor figure who encourages him, but he knows he would just be a useless retarded failure in the real world so he kidnaps his mentor to add to his batshit legend he thinks he's making for himselfThen in Dark Knight he plays a character who knows everything about holes, has transcended the hole, wants to make the rest of the world live in the hole
>I think it's awful that Picard says fuck and shit in the Picard show; Jean-Luc should be above that>well uh, uh-huh-huh, actually, he said "merde" one time in TNG, in Elementary Dear Data, so uh, uh-huh-huh, he's always swore! Why are nutrek fags like this?
>>223576850I hate to use a /pol/ meme but it really is that "pretending not to understand discourse" image that gets spammed
>>223575990The question is not "Do they use halos in Star-Trek?" The question is, "Do they over-use them?" And I don't think so. It's good art direction. You had the art direction people themselves saying they wanted the show to be like a secular version of the Catholic mass. That's probably where they went too far. There's something evil and jewish in that. But the story of the soul going upward is classic.

>>223578403TOS characters do not talk like modern day humans, you retard, and it was a cornerstone of Roddenberry's Star Trek bible that the show not use modern slang or phrasing and remain a "period piece about the future.">I've noticed that about your people, Doctor. You speak about the objective hardness of the Vulcan heart, yet how little room there seems to be in yours.Yeah man this is what the average man on the street sounds likeWhy are Enterprise fans so goddamn stupid, every single one
>>223573802With a few tweaks this would have been a funny Q scene. Make it some young Klingon, a relative of Worf if you wanted to keep that "eat any good books lately" thing going. Of course you'd have to find some reason for the Klingon to eat it logically. Maybe he was challenged or dared by another student, some throwaway line about a warrior not running from a challenge or something. That quirky "Already?" line works much better for Qs character than The Doctor. Cant believe we wasted him on that shit.

Ok... let's talk about Staw Twek now....
>It's an "a bunch of people are actually holograms" episode but worse than in the past.
>>223579898It didn’t really make sense as a premise anyway. Star Trek is sci-fi ocean exploration but it’s not 1700’s exploration it’s America circa 1940’s and 50’s. They might be out on missions exploring minutia of global relations, but if recalled they could never possibly get more than a week or so from any one place in the world. Star Trek mostly glosses over that but it’s basically how travel works in-universe. Voyager made it feel too different imo. Its not like something like that couldnt happen, but it would be an episode or two arc and thats it.
If you pay attention upon rewatching Voyager, you'll notice Harry never interacts with any of the crew. This is because he was a ghost the entire time.
>>223580949The invisible man.

Can Star Trek be revived in any meaningful way or is it over?
Hot take. What about bringing trek back as some procedural boomer slop series? Like CSI, Law and Order etc. No large budgets, just scripts.
>>223581099they need to just do a normal 'Explore' series with cozy carpets. No reliance on cameos, no prequels, no relying on old characters.
>>223581063At least it had the TNG crew and actually took place on a Starfleet ship.
>>223579641Holograms are immaterial though. They can’t have sentience they’ll only ever be seen as schizo projections of a female super conscious (the ship). Data on the other hand is like a walking talking cathedral to le heckin science and engineering. He can have consciousness.
>>223581132Let's not even have it be in space. It could be on earth at Starfleet Medical.
>>223581137>No reliance on cameos, no prequels, no relying on old characters
>>223580723You’re not God
>>223581186Yeah, they never really RELIED on them.
>>223581099>>223581137They've already announced the next movie will be capeshit-tier writing and effects-driven canon-breaking garbage, every bit as bad or worse than Abramstrek. They don't even bother hiding that they're not making new trek content for fans of star trek. They would rather try to lure in capeshit audiences. It never works but they keep trying it anyway.
>>223580339That may be my name, but it isn't who I am.
>>223581211What's the mental condition that makes Paramount executives think that trek = capeshit
>>223581099the best we can hope for is a ds9 and voy remaster. i dont think the current crop of writers can write the type of trek we want. the modern writer takes a "fuck yeah, wouldnt it be cool if this happens" scenarios and works backwards to make the characters do that.take for example the Academy one with Picardo up above. Someone thought "hey what if a cadet was a nervous wreck and was chewing on her shirt out of anxiety and accidentally swallowed her com badge?" they didnt care to think why someone who was gifted enough to be at starfleet academy would be so dumb do this. its the same reason we get retarded puppet episodes, singing episodes, gay spock.
>>223581251They don't watch tv or movies.
>>223581251What’s the mental condition that makes you say things like capeshit, makes you confused about the fact the heroes of original Star Trek are in fact heroic. Spock even super human. What is your actual problem?
>>223581251My theory is they saw the reaction to the first Abramstrek movie and think "if we can just tweak that formula a little more to make the captain seem like Cpiderman and the first officer seem like Dr. Strange then we'll break a billy" . They have already said on record that the next movie will be far in the future from anything we've seen before, to a time when the Federation has "lost its way", so I'm guessing the abilities of the characters will seem like magic superhero powers.
>>223581252Yeah, even the Fargo guy, when got to make Alien said Fuck yeah, I can tell my own story with some big franchise money. Oh btw, I'm also a fan of the first movie, so me and buddies also get to make an ep that is our take on a little remake.
i was just reminded of those chicago fire and er shows, thats exactly what nu trek is like. screaming, yelling, crying, drama...lines like "dont thank me, i know im good at my job"lord jesus why did we ever give woman rights
>>223581291Yes, yes. Trek was always campy schlock, we get it...
>>223573748Non of those are even close to watchable, pickle ricker.
Tonight is Errand of Mercy, my first rewatch because this is one of the handful of episodes I saw during the H&I marathon. I've decided that whenever I get to one of these I'll dispense with the "See you in an hour" and just do a single post.I had no clue that this episode wasn't just the first outright declaration of War in the series, but also the introduction to the Klingon race. And they even set up immediately that these childish struggles for power between the two space-faring entities is not going to be a perpetual thing. Also, after so many episodes of "arrested cultures" being lifted up by Starfleet and advanced races that flaunt their prowess openly, it's incredible to get a story where both of these are subverted simultaneously. To have the all-powerful Organians be exceedingly hesitant to use their powers, and to liken their culture to that of a primitive world. The finale where the Organians reveal themselves and stop the war is all about positioning Kirk & Kor as another pair of likeminded captains, similar to Kirk & the Unnamed Romulan Captain from "Balance of Terror", but there's this really subtle parallel made when Kirk is first negotiating with the Elders prior to the Klingons making planetfall. He talks about the Klingon military dictatorship bringing about the end of their way of life, but after learning of their lack of advancement from Spock he comes back to "sweeten" the deal with promises to uplift their culture, sciences, and education. I put it to you all: is that not just as destructive to a peoples' way of life, even if it is not an inherently violent means to do so?Looking forward to how future Klingon episodes handle this imposition of peace.

https://youtu.be/IAdFndpI3i4unironically this could have been a great show but they fumbled it immediately
>>223581308That interview is all you need to see that they don't have any idea. Thinking that what is basically a badmiral would be novelty, and talking about placing the story in a different "timeline" not being aware what "timeline" would even mean. They clearly don't know that Star Trek takes place in different centuries.

>>223581563Star Trek was invented so you would discuss philosophy. If you wanted to play with little plastic space ships you should have gotten a job in aerodynamics with Lockheed Martin
>>223581595
>>223581595Ah yes, I remember. I think it was VF who especially hated "shipfags".
>>223581619Is this supposed to make me shit my pants and turn into a Comanche step child who depends on jingling bells to keep from disfiguring myself or something? I don’t give a fuck about any of that. The covenant ships from halo look cooler than any of that and the human ships look like shit because they’re not gay. That’s my philosophy on that
>>223581568They've already done that to some extent with Nutrek. Watch a space battle in Into Darkness or Discovery's early seasons. Starships suddenly have fighter-shuttles which use little 'pew-pew-pew' weapons like an X-wing fighter. All they need is magic midochlorians and a 'dark side' to make the enshitification complete.
>>223581663
>>223581661Im the Harry Potter of Voldemort faggots life we couldn’t be further apart philosophically
>>223575808This. I hate it every time my friends bring it up as a good Trek season. Just slap Star Trek on something and they will consume.Remember the Borg? Remember cube but big? Remember Enterprise D which was outclassed by half the quadrant 50 years ago?
>>223581437It's not gonna matter because the movie is gonna be slimy diarrhea anyway. Put it wherever on the timeline.
>>223581479To be fair bf proved it's her by posting recent pics. My favorite star trek planet is risa.
>>223581765TRVKE
>>223581765bingo
>>223581563
>>223581787Anon, it’s a stalker. This shouldn’t be hard to comprehend. You don’t want to see it because then you’d have to accept you’ve been talking to some nefarious dude like he’s your sweetheart on the internet while he jerks off and calls himself princess
>>223580550Not the destruction of continuity? Not the humiliation for legacy Trek characters? Not the bridge dialogue that resembles a 2025 office space instead of a professional space faring organisation? Not the excessive gimmick episodes or the feminization of male authority figures?Just the sets then
>>223581787I’ve been of the opinion it was a stalker posting pictures of a woman he didn’t know this entire time, before I even outmaneuvered their last trip into a perma banned
>>223581810>a fresh takeis this code for something?
>>223581853Code for reboot.
>>223581853>"subverting expectations">"flipping the tropes"etc..
I'm tired. Don't come.
EVERYBODY DO THE WAMBO
The Suliban have horrible acne and need some Retin-A-Micro.
>>223573748Discovery - dropped after second seasonPicard - dropped after first season, came back for third seasonSNW - Never watchedLower Decks - Never watchedProdigy - Never watchedStarfleet Academy - Never watchedNuTrek is dog shit
The fact is the Romulan Star Empire is the greatest power in two quadrants.
>>223580527>I haven't watched it, but here is my opinionStar Trek fandom explained in 9 words, nice.
>>223582009it is warm feces.
>>223576203Wh? They have shuttles.
>>223582064We have planes and helicopters yet still use land vehicles.
>>223576850It's so funny there are still retards around who think Kirk was a thug and Picard a man of intellect, when it's exactly the other way around.
>>223579533Just tell him to go back to /pol/
>>223581010Part of it is because you can't go through the core region of the Galaxy in Star Trek, You HAVE to go around. Remember, there is some Q bullshit barrier at the center and the rim of the Galaxy, so it's like a donut.
>>223582068Because both of them are fuel guzzling pain the asses. As Star Trek shuttle isn't. If we had nuclear helicopter that don't have to be refueled they would be used much more.
