Nothing could beat the amount of jumpscares in the Benicio Del Toro Wolfman
>>223664302Apparently it's unintentionally funny schlock. Probably worth a watch after a lot of booze and weed
why do you care? go back

>>223664346This. One jump scare is tolerable. Two or more equates to garbage storytelling.
I remember I was in a Gamestop and some zoomer kid was asking the clerk if some game had jump scares. I thought he was joking, but he kept going on about how he loved them in games and movies.
>...and your other mommy
being startled and being scared aren't the same thing, and I'm tired of pretending otherwise. fear is what keeps you up at night, nobody loses sleep because they're scared of thunder.
>>223665322Little kids love jump scares, that's why Five Nights at Freddy's got so popular
>>223665379>nobody loses sleep because they're scared of thunderTell that to my dog
Jumpscares become tiresome quickly
>>223664302Zoomer horror iconsAn empty office roomSome guy's girlfriendTheir motherInteresting.
finally I am tired of all this slow burn shit
>>223665108>Two or more equates to garbage storytelling.I wouldn't go that far, I think anywhere from 1 to 5 is a good rule of thumb if you must have them but they should be used sporadically and actually feel earned. >>223664302When did this overusage of jumpscares really start even? Correct me if I'm wrong but I think it was Paranormal Activity and Insidious in the late 2000s for movies then Outlast and FNAF for gaming in the 2010s, it's definitely a very millennial/zoomer phenomenon. Eggers is the only millennial horror director I can think of who doesn't use them because he grew up on classic monster movies like OG Nosferatu, King Kong and Universal/Hammer Horror. Hokum and Other Mommy were both written and directed by millennials and are full of shitty jump scares.
>>223664302I went down the rabbit hole of this director's other movies and his two he made during covid lockdowns are really good. Host is unintentionally funny because it's a bunch of women talking over Zoom, but it's short and sweet. Dashcam though, that's one of the funniest movies I've seen in a while while still functioning as a decent horror and I didn't even know it existed.
>>223664302I watched it and I was not jumpscared at all

4chan really hates the movie but Resident Evil 2026 has the best jump scare in at least a decade
>>223667145Dashcam is legitimately great. Such an imaginative film and it uses so many different types of horror brilliantly.
if someone is bored enough they could probably get the public convinced that supporting other mommy is supporting maga and the alt-right and start this big hate campaign against it under the banner of silence is violence
