There were definitely times where westernizations were total dogshit, but there were also times where westernizations or west/jap amalgamation, collaboration, or heavy liberties taken in voice over work ended up being the most unintentionally soulful shit ever. I've seen some early anime VA work that was so hammy and corny that it made me realize that any modern English speaking VA that takes his or herself seriously, and does dub work sounds hella gay, and try hard, and stupid. 80's and 90's amateur cheese is vastly superior to modern voice acting guild faggotry. Same for some of those westernized arts. The transformation from a childish cutesy bug-eyed blob to something between Lord of the Rings and Heavy Metal was a straight upgrade.
