The lack of sharing Miis is a huge blow to the game, since a lot of the time people playing Life on 3DS tended to scan QR codes of their favorite characters. Even people playing Tomodachi Collection DS tended to get their Miis off the Wii's Mii Contest Channel and transfer over that way. Creative freedom and sharing's kind of what made Miis work throughout their life, even outside of a Tomodachi context the Contest Channel existing and being compatible with Wii Sports Resort, and Mii Parade (Wii) and Streetpass Mii Plaza (3DS) sharing all the Miis of people you played games with were meant to encourage the virality of sharing user creations. Feels like a strange downgrade to just disallow sharing online entirely.
The thing that also concerns me about this game is that the editor seems like a downgrade from the one in Miitopia. It seems like so far, you can only layer the new facepaint option underneath a Mii's face rather than being able to layer over the original pieces. I hope to be proven wrong though, since making clothing patterns and the likes has a layering system when placing stamps and the likes. As someone who made a ton of Miis in Miitopia, it's honestly a make or break if the editor's good or not.

Idk about the switch version but the 3ds one is alright. It is, in fact, carried by the mii gimmick of course, but the actual gameplay isnt really horrible. Party resets in any other rpg would infuriate me but again the mii gimmick saves it, I actively want to create more party members with it.

Different cultures in different countries. The eye features in the new Tomodachi look much more restricted in comparison to what Miitopia offered. In Miitopia, you can place any shape in the eyelashes/eyeshadow/eyeshines layers, but here, you're limited to a few stock choices.
The facepaint feature seems to be the make or break. If you can use facepaint features over regular Mii features, then it'll be a decent replacement to Miitopia's makeup. If not, it's a downgrade.
