How do I get good at puyo puyo? I can't even beat the easiest difficulty of Kirby's Avalanche
>>731900249Why didn't Kirby just respect Waddle Dee?
>>731900324Kirby is a huge asshole in this game lol>>731900249I'm not great at it either, but you can get a lot better by just making stairs and sandwiches.https://puyonexus.com/wiki/Stairshttps://puyonexus.com/wiki/SandwichOnce you get the hang of that, try GTR.https://puyonexus.com/wiki/GTR_for_BeginnersTry Puyo Puyo 2, also. Kirby's Avalanche is based off of the first game, but the rest of the series has more in common with the sequel.I don't know all of the particulars off the top of my head, but the first game has an extra color of Puyo that the rest of them don't have.
>>731900249>How do I get good at puyo puyo? I can't even beat the easiest difficulty of Kirby's AvalancheAvalanche is harder than most other Puyo games because it's based on Puyo Puyo 1. Go play a translation patch for Tsu so you actually have offsetting. Puyo 20th is also a really good starting point.
>play Puyo Puyo 20th Anniversary which has a practice mode with a built-in rewind tool>practice stairs (one floor is enough)>proceed to enjoy absolutely wrecking all the single player content in any and every Puyo gameIt's that simple.
>>731900249im the same. i tried to play this game and i couldnt. too hard. also with dr. robotnik's mean bean machine.
>>731900927Like >>731900691 said, you got meme'd by faggot devs using PP1 as the basis for their cashgrab reskins when PP2 was already a thing. You can't rotate puyos in a 1 tile wide space or fight back against garbage making Kirby's Avalanche and Mean Bean Machine ridiculously hard for beginners.
>>731900324Fuck Waddle DeeDream Land is gonna LEARN
5 color Puyo sucks and I'm a little sad they never made Meaner Beaner Machiner with Puyo 2 rules
>>731900249*doesn’t practice**doesn’t practice**doesn’t practice**doesn’t practice*>man why do i suck at this thing
>>731901494>how do I do thing?>hmm better post about it instead of doing it
>>731900249generally, puzzle game beginners are split into 2 categories>the first learns intuitively and doesn't care for following cookie-cutter recipes. the learning curve is longer and they may pick up bad habits, but they gain an intuitive understanding of the game>the second kind seeks to improve as fast as possible, following guides and pre-baked recipes. they get better faster, but they suffer from low adaptability and struggle when things deviate from the scenarios they've rehearsed over and over (most infamously in the case of puyo, starting a second chain or extending fever chains)
>>731900587Oh shit, gonna have to look at these later cause im getting my ass kicked at the later advanced levels in puyo 1
I couldn’t even beat the Puyo in Sonic Mania consistently
I love this shitty game. I'm glad I could get a CIB copy of it for a good price.
>>731900249someone already posted puyo nexus (though for games like avalanche, the lack of offsetting means any 4-5 chain can drown the opponent really fast) but the best way is just keep playing it, maybe use the guides but at the same time those won't help 100% of the time unless you're really good at stuff like handling colors you don't need. like basically any game especially puzzle games they need you to invest time in them to get good at them.
I hate western "puyo fans"
>>731910654in what way. explain>>731907892main issue for beginners is that making good use of puyo requires you to be able to build out of order (e.g. 3 puyo on column 4 and you get a same-color puyo pair that you can't use. you put it on top of column 4 to build the 2nd floor), which is very hard
>>731911764i think i've seen that anon pop up a few times and seems to imply the western fanbase is more interested in lorefagging than actually playing the games. i like both the characters and story and playing the game cause it's one of the most addictive puzzle games to me but i can get it, especially if you look outside of 4chan. maybe if sega announces a new game in their stream in a couple days /v/ can get some matches going, none of the switch entries aside from champions have really been good for that unless people want to boot up VS2 and even then champions is an extremely stripped game.
>>731913013that makes sense. the west sucks at puzzle games. only a tiny handful of super autists can play tetris or panel de pon decently for example. meanwhile in japan playing at 150 tpm is like average for themyo what the fuck the captcha can't generate the figure in pic related
>>731915028frankly i don't interact with puyo fans outside of these threads aside from poking my nose to see if there's any new translations or scans but aside from the usual retardation from social media it's a lot less awful than other fandoms.i think part of that can also be attributed to sega's last decade of handling the series where the tetris games aren't really the best for matchmaking puyo VS puyo, champions being really watered down that some refuse to play it, and puzzle pop being locked to apple devices does make it an issue on top of there being no crossplay at all, so even if we did get some new content like a new game or if the leaker anon from https://arch.b4k.dev/v/thread/730830024 is right, possible cytube streams of anime episodes, we still couldn't please every anon if it's divided between switch, playstation and PC if people don't want to still use VS2.
