>>
>>731983632
I'll be honest, AI is super cool. Like this legit looks awesome and I would love to just explore a world that looks "real"... as much as AI can look real.
That being said I don't ever foresee myself spending money on AI and that is where it all falls apart. The only value I see out of any of this stuff is if you can run it locally. I guess ChatGPT is alright for translating from different languages but that's the only thing I've ever used it for and I wouldn't pay for that.
From a business perspective there's plenty of use cases for AI but AI generated "videogames" are about as far from useful for a business as you can get

>>"but the version we have now can't so ai is bad"
The version we have now can't. Correct.
So how do we realistically double the number of data centres to evolve AI further?
How do we solve the fact that the current water and power supply grids don't even have the capacity to supply twice the number of data centres?
Even if we genuinely did successfully double the number of data centres somehow despite the countless of reasons for why that'd be difficult to impossible, there is no saying it would even be enough.

>What does the amount of data centres have to do with how AI progresses?
Improving AI has less to do with optimizing code or whatever the fuck, and has more to do with giving AI access to even more data and even more hardware power.
That is not to say you couldn't make improvements with some surprising model revisions and new forms of training. But that would be some combinations of unlikely and of minimal effect. AI needs more data centres to improve, and that's why they've been building so, so, so many of them.

>>
>>731991441
>What does the amount of data centres have to do with how AI progresses
throwing more data and more compute at it is the only way they've managed to progress AI in the past few years.
Reminder that most of the math for neural networks had already been worked out in the 50s and 60s and the thing missing was the ridiculous amount of computing power and training data we have now.
>>
>>731992283
the data centres aren't linked. They're separate companies all creating models. Of course AI improves via software, look at the first image gen model size vs LoRa's.
>>
>>731992709
But a model that is maybe slightly better at something is not what is going to notably improve AI. And that's why they're so desperately trying to build more data centres.
The current hardware is not going to do it.

>"but the version we have now can't so ai is bad"
No, it's bad because there are inherent technical limitations that are simply impossible to overcome even if you throw the sum total of the world's data and computing power at it.
What Google is doing with this is the ML equivalent of trying to build a space ship by attaching a series of ever-bigger rocket engines to a rock. Yes, eventually it will fly and it might be a cool promotional stunt, any kind of practical application will be both exorbitantly expensive and unusable because you trying to make a vehicle out of a rock strapped to a rocket.

I enjoy AI when I get exactly what I want with little effort which is the case at the moment for being a better google or doing easy prompt edits for existing images. I don't get what is enjoyable about tard wrangling AI.

I'm more an ERPfag and uninterested in image gen, but I don't exactly tard wrangle it. I write a somewhat long and descriptive prose, but leave it open-ended enough to see what the AI does with it, because I'm not interested in railroading the AI, more just seeing what it comes up with and Rolling with it. I also just 'write' some stuff without self-insertion, just to see two characters interacting and seeing how the AI characterizes them, other times I have two characters in a relationship and I just want to read about them pre-fuck, fucking and cuddling post-fuck.

None of these are games, they're just videos. The brick wall this shit is gonna hit is really clear. You can at best get a very scripted FMV game out of this, but anything that relies on contextual mechanics or physics (IE a video game) can't be made.
