The second ending is pushing to the summit where a trippy sequence shows her scaling further using the stars as holds and eventually turning into a shooting star herself, to me indicating as she died she felt the transcendance she was seeking. Reporting on her "success" was probably never something she gave any thought to and is certainly not the reason why she dies, nor was she ego-driven to be the first.

Finished it today and it's a pretty good game. Glad I pirated instead of purchased. Climbing is really satisfying when she moves her limbs properly, and I liked collecting shit and cooking effective meals. Aava is a cute and her voice acting is really impressive, especially all the breathing, gasping and shivering. I didn't like being forced to hang out with not-Link and found the storytelling/theming to be far too heavy-handed and just not to my tastes. The summit ending is very anti-climactic and abrupt considering the journey to get there. (perhaps on purpose? Aava herself doesn't even seem happy to have achieved her lifelong goal.) The soundtrack is a mixed bag, the more ambient and calmer tracks are lovely but the "hype" gamer-wubstep that is peppered in is really jarring, I'm surprised they didn't throw in some Hans Zimmer BWAAAA sounds to go with it.Kinda tempted to play again trying different routes and exploring places I missed before and just ignoring all the story shit.
