In Tekken there's a lot more attention paid to male characters to make them look as good as possible and the female characters are sort of there. In DoA it's the opposite, the female characters look like goddesses and the male characters are sort of there, honorable exceptions being Hayabusa and Hayate.

The linear storyline is straight out of the MK9 playbook. The slow motion closeups of attacks are reminiscent of MK's x-ray attacks, the addition of blood, bruising and dirt, meters. Someone over there is a big MK fan and figures westerners are more into brutal violence than fanservice, hilariously verified by the Core Values incident. Their games typically get smaller going forward. DOA6 had fewer characters, no tag, pretty sure there were also fewer arenas than DOA5. Xtreme 3 cut a lot of content that was in Xtreme 2, left out a third of the larger female roster to keep the same number of characters as were in 2, and reused a lot of assets. They didn't even really want to make another Xtreme game but decided they could make a cheap game and rake in a ton of cash selling swimsuits in a game with literally no other content. In DOA5LR, if you didn't care about sexy outfits you could skip the dlc because there was still a fighting game for you to play, but Xtreme is all about the outfits and they were trying to squeeze money out of people who'd already paid full price for it (and imported it after they decided, midway, to not release it outside of Asia).
