Noita has shitty terrain generation. Tons of dead ends and random pixels make the exploration annoying enough almost everyone says making a digging wand is a priority. Well, yes its a priority because the generation is shit. The most interesting parts of Noita's world are all premade. Unlike in minecraft, nothing algorithmically generated is interesting in this game. Minecraft at least has decent caves, mountains and alike.
>>733213697For the record before some retards get their panties in a twist, I am only comparing the terrain generation in MC and Noita, nothing else.
Minecraft only got good cave gen when they started stealing terraria's features like pre-placed rails and bigger open areas. And they had to dramatically increase the scale of the world to fit it in there.
Skill issue
>>733213786Is this a Silksong thread?
>>733213774Then steal good shit? Noita's already massive, and its 2d so I think it could handle better cavegen even if it means increasing the scale a bit. There's like a billion rougelikes/lites that show it can be done. Most of the size in noita is practically the same swiss cheese patterns of caves until you get to another interesting premade area.
OP is fundamentally retardedThe terrain is an obstacle, its supposed to get in your way and make risk/reward choicesYou could use your bombs to make a safe route to the exit, or you can take the longer more dangerous path but save your resourcesIf you can't understand basic mechanucs lile this yiu should probably quit gaming alltogether, you drag the average IQ of gamers down
>>733214161>reddit spacingEh, whatever, I'll bite.Anything can be an obstacle, that alone doesn't make it good. A noise pattern would also be an obstacle, but that wouldn't make it fun or meaningful. And noita's cavegen is very close to being just random noise. Its also only an obstacle until you get some reliable form of digging, then its just meaningless swiss cheese.
>>733214436that's how obstacles work bucko, like in metroid you grab the doohickey and now you can get where you couldn't before
>>733214607The obstacle is constant random bullshit, the answer is always>the wand that removes said bullshitThe digging wand is an answer to a boring, unchanging problem.>in metroid you grab the doohickey and now you can get where you couldn't beforeExcept there's many different abilities and actual level design that requires and tests them.
>>733213697Noita doesn't have terrain generation. It's just reshuffled pre-drawn tiles.
>>733213697if you are not slinging nukes that you are conveniently immune to, what are you even doing with your noita
>spawn with crap spells>run down to the bottom right>use flask content to get over the lava>pick up the orb>dodge the boss>kill enemies for gold>go to mountain>bunch of useless shit spawns>continueAt what point do I stop repeating Mines and start to get reliable improvements going forward
Your pathing method might be retarded if you are having trouble with the terrain.
>>733214808>Except there's many different abilities and actual level design that requires and tests them. And you think there's none of this in Noita?
>>733213697>he doesnt realize he starts with a wand that can dig>he doesnt make use of explosive barrels>he doesnt make use of dig spells>he doesnt make use of acid, fire, teleportatium or enemiesunironically ngmi, this game is too hard for you
>>733217340dont go for that orb, way too risky at the startjust get 600 gold for 2x reroll in mines/collapsed mines and go straight to the fungal caverns (left in 2nd biome) to get *much* better spells and rewardspick up broken wands, ambrosia, teleportatium along the way for the chance of good wands and spells in hisii base

Been playing this game spoilerless for a little while, I have a rough idea of how wands work and started farming in the fungal caves like >>733217764 said but I keep dying to stupid random shit and it's pretty infuriating. Last one that really got me was when I reached the 5th layer for the first time (I kept fucking around to side areas and the surface for a while, also tried to do that boss past the lava lake a lot) and I got transmogified into a sheep before I even reached the fucking ground and got instantly gibbed a second later. I really want to love this game but it's unforgiving to an absurd level, the the game is comically stingy with health regen too
>>733218726the game has a lot of ways to kill you even if you think youre op, thats something youll always have to have in mindone second you think youre good, then some fuck teleports on top of you with a 5x nuke wand and obliterates your screen with everything in itthe boss across the lava lake is stupidly op, dont bother with it if you dont know how to beat it as it will just kill you

Wrong board, Noita is a tech demo, not a game.
If you're going to start a Noita thread host a server you faggot.https://github.com/IntQuant/noita_entangled_worlds
>>733221059Noita is a solo game
>>733221117So was SM64. Was. Don't be a luddite or I'll host another day. Point being I'm not interested in Noita threads to jerk off webms of other players. The game has been talked to death. Multiplayer or bust.
>>733218257So what's the scenario? So enemy down a screen or two got a wand with nuke and used it on a rat?

I know the game is modable. Has someone made a custom map that's all pre-made?I would want to try something less random like that. Could be good with this engine.
>>733217546Randomized abilities and zero level design. If you get lucky you get lucky, if you don't you die and get fucked. And the first layer is always really fucking boring because you have a shitty starter wand and garbage limited digging. What's exactly the gameplay purpose of limiting the wand edits to holy mountains? And why do the starter wands have the wrong (opposite) spells on them? Unironically, swapping the spells would immediately teach the new players about the importance of cast speed, mana costs and mana conservation if your wand isn't good yet. And for non-new players the first layer would be way less boring because you at least have a fun rapid fire wand to start with.

Install Noita (Steam, GOG, or cracked version. You need Steam running to join online even if you didn't buy the game from there. You need to RESTART THE MOD for this change to take effect2. Install the mod and launch it.3. Set your name and colors (if you like)4. Open lobby list (upper right corner under "Connect using steam" yes, even if its pirated)5. Copy the lobby code: e0s603e68c6w and click "Connect to lobby in clipboard." If this one doesn't work, look for one in the thread.6. Select "Start Noita" in the mod client itself, and make sure to start a new game.7. If you still can't join, close the mod client completely, start Noita normally, go into your mods, and make sure the mod is enabled.8. Do not continue a previous run, or do the daily run, or click anything else. Just join from the mod, and launch a normal 'new game.'9. DISABLE ALL OTHER MODS.10. If you are hosting, you don't need to wait for a full lobby to start, or any players even. Anyone can join the game as long as they have the lobby ID. >>733213697Nothing about terrain generation matters in the slightest in Noita. Fuck, 2 hours into any run, you should be zipping across the map, destroying random pixels all over as you go and obliterating your enemies and terrain with glorious fire and explosions. Who tf cares about terrain generation?
