That is on AMD, by the way, which already works better than nvidia.
GNOME is worse in this aspect, it's like, fucking nightmare level HDR. You have no settings other than a broken brightness slider, HDR doesn't work through gamescope, and good luck with Wine on wayland.

I've tested it and you need to disable it and reboot, depending on the game to not get double tonemapping shit in some games.

If something has gotten magnitudes better on linux is precisely gaming over the last 5 years. You have no idea how bad it was compared to now just even 3 years ago.
Most people who run away from linux do so after figuring out they can't use their adobe tools reliably or other productivity software that has much more primitive "support" than anything else.
For about 90% of games on an intel or AMD GPU (well except the 9070xt), it really just takes small steps if any to get something to actually work. Edge cases are not as covered (I mean people complain about not being able to install very particular mods, use random chinese peripherals, using shit that nvidia bakes into their latest windows drivers and is barely stable in the first place), but more people ditch Windows if their only point is to actually play games, unless they pertain to the multiplayer with anticheat group which I'll go ahead and say it's more of a developer problem being strenuously retarded than anything else.
