>"Vivec City is a monument to ego. Let's not sugarcoat it. It’s a series of massive, floating concrete ziggurats built for a living god who literally has an asteroid suspended over the city just to remind everyone who's boss. The tourist brochures want you up top, in the Plazas. They want you buying overpriced, sanitized temple trinkets while Ordinators in golden masks stare at you like you’re a walking, breathing health code violation.>But that’s a facade. It’s a sterile, bureaucratic nightmare. To find the actual pulse of Vivec, you have to go down. Past the Waistworks, past the Canalworks, straight down into the Underworks. It’s pitch black. It smells like stagnant water, raw sewage, and desperation. You're sharing breathing room with smugglers, skooma addicts, and mutant rats the size of golden retrievers. But down there, in a flooded corridor, I found an Argonian exile operating a single rusted iron pot over a makeshift fire. No menu. No sign. He handed me a bowl of dreugh-meat gumbo. It was spicy enough to strip the paint off a guar, rich, muddy, and completely unregulated by the Temple. I ate it sitting on a damp crate while the religious police marched blindly overhead. Best meal in the whole damn province."
Insult a n'wahInsult two
They don't want you here. Let’s get that out of the way first. Sadrith Mora is a company town, but the company is run by thousand-year-old magical sociopaths who live inside hollowed-out giant fungi. You get off the boat, and they immediately quarantine you in the Gateway Inn like you're carrying a plague of mediocrity. But if you can bribe your way past the prefects and actually walk among the spore-choked streets, you find a culture that is entirely, unapologetically itself. I sat down with a low-ranking retainer who fed me a plate of blackened ash yams and something called Hound Meat Carpaccio. He spent the entire meal levitating three feet off the ground just to look down his nose at me. The arrogance is breathtaking, the architecture is literally rotting, and the Telvanni bug musk makes your eyes water. But there is absolutely zero compromise here. It's beautiful.

>>733729254Geographically a port would be difficult to build atop the primary structures. It would need to be past those small islands surrounding it or the ships would run around often. The port would be a manmade structure or the farthest largest island out with the deepest surrounding waters, and there'd be a logistical in-between in the form of ferries and small boats transporting goods from the port to the main city. Would be kind of hard to sell for a game developed in that engine in the 1990s, the small boats would be static and it would be a hassle to explore for early game players until they could levitate which wasn't something everyone rushed to do in 2001.

These could be used for ancient records / texts, as well as religiously important texts.Haseoster suggests writing the history of a family on Bosmer scapula. For example, every time a member of a particular family dies, one or both of their shoulder blades is taken, prepared and inscribed with their prominent deeds or some other information; then a hole is drilled in it, and it gets put on the string with all the other ancestral scapula. It could be used by the head of the family to connect with a particular ancestor through ritual or seance."
>>733732656It was a really ambitious idea.Ebonheart would be the official port of Vivec. Merchant ships would not want to risk going into those waterways. They could build a bridge to the St Delyon Canton and that would likely be the foreign quarter. They could use carts by land and small boats to transport the goods from Ebonheart to that Canton the most easily. Vivec would not want a pier in front of the Palace. It'd interrupt his view and port waters are always disgusting. Everyone would be dumping their slop and piss and shit overboard and there'd be all sorts of bullshit falling the water.

>>733732973"You want the perfect, poetic metaphor for the Imperial occupation of Morrowind? Look no further than Tel Vos a place happens when you try to explain Cyrodiilic zoning laws to a wizard who considers gravity a mere suggestion. The Legion marched out here into the Grazelands, built a rigid, medieval-style stone keep, and planted their flag. And Master Aryon, a Telvanni wizard with a deeply cynical sense of humor, looked at it and said, 'Nice courtyard.' And then he just grew a giant, towering mushroom straight through the floorboards. It is the ultimate, psychotic home renovation. You don't bother laying down new stone or worrying about the floor transition strips between the dining hall and the armory; you just plant a magical spore in the cellar and let it violently consume the architecture. The roots have literally crushed the barracks. The Imperial towers are choking on organic, twisting fungus. It is the most beautiful, passive-aggressive middle finger in all of Tamriel.I sat in a hollowed-out stone guardhouse that now smells entirely of damp earth and bug musk. Aryon’s retainers—a mix of heavily armed mercenaries and magical sycophants—were roasting a massive, whole Shalk over an open fire pit right where the Imperial commander’s desk used to be. They cracked the blackened carapace open with a steel mace, and we dug into the rich, sweet meat with our bare hands, pulling it out in steaming chunks. No forks. No Imperial table manners. Just the howling wind of the Grazelands, the unnerving mechanical clicking of a repurposed Dwemer spider patrolling the hall, and the taste of absolute, uncompromising victory."

>>733735440For the Dres it's probably just logistics, politics, and interests. The entirety of their territory is in the extreme south of Morrowind, they have no land in the Inner Sea at all, to even get there they'd need to have good relations with the Hlaalu and the Empire so they can use the Thirr River, which they don't (this shit ain't the PGE3), and House Hlaalu already took over all the spots that could be used for big slave plantations, of which there weren't that many to begin with and so wouldn't let the Dres have them. For the Dres, it would definitely make much more sense for them to stick to their own territory and focus on dealing with the ongoing hot conflict with the Argonians than wasting resources trying to colonize a place that wouldn't really offer much for them anyway. As for the Indoril, they're already closely tied with the Temple, to whom all of Vvardenfell belonged before its opening and still owns a significant portion of it, and in TR lore the Indoril chapel of Gorne is already supposed to symbolically encompass all of Vvardenfell even though it's really just one small island off its coast.

>>733727494It is monument alright. A monument to piss poor city planning.
>>733737707Slavery in Morrowind is literally protected by law because of the armistice, and the overwhelming majority of the trade probably occurs by inland routes rather than by sea anyways. As for the Sload, in PTR lore their ships fly so high they're basically spaceships, so there's literally nothing the Navy can do about them, assuming they'd even want to since there's nothing to suggest the early Septim Empire's kill on sight policy extends to modern times.
