How do I keep up in current day Yu-Gi-Oh? I love farming gems, but the last time I played I was used to summoning Celtic Guardian and passing turn.

Pick a deck, learn the combo lines to the board you want to make, get good handtraps to deal with meta decks, interrupt those meta decks at crucial points in their combo to shut them downThat's about it
Fill the deck with monsters that have 2000 defense and 1800+ attack that you can summon without any tributes. Pepper in some power summons like summoned skull. Throw in some dark holes and trap holes. Throw in some cards to negate spells and traps. It's pretty much game over for your opponent if you follow these tips.
