No I'm not depressed or a hikki, the amount of information overload our society and culture has been experiencing in the 2020s is killing all wonder and imagination for the real and the digital.

No you won't ever get internet urban legends back when millions of people harp on them within the span of a day and creators on short form video platform debunk it.

You will never wonder how North Korea and Communist China look like when every instagram user is going there

There is no point to having hobbies or uploading them on the internet if there's no money involved, when you won't get prioritized and be seen by people because of the algorithm.

You don't care about these things even today. all of those urban legends being solved didn't lead to any greater happiness or understanding. You already knew back then they were fake. Life in far-off countries was already heavily documented on TV & in books.
>There is no point to having hobbies or uploading them on the internet if there's no money involved, when you won't get prioritized and be seen by people because of the algorithm.
This is fair, hobbies used to congregate on niche forums & now they only exist on social media which caters to slop posting for idiots. But even if less ubiquitous, places for it still exist. you just don't know how to use these things effectively

Hobbies are supposed to give you self-fulfillment by try and error and getting better at them. I'm talking about real hobbies like playing and instrument, drawing or practicing a sport.

Video games are like drugs, cheap and quick dopamine rushes, those eventually burn your dopamine receptors and nothing becomes genuinely interesting like you said.
>>

what about video games that require you to fail and get better and progress

I'm not the OP but video games used to all be trial and error, some still are but they've mostly turned into mass consumption media like TV and movies in the name of accessibility and maximizing profits.

Games are becoming less and less challening, even notoriously difficult series like Nioh just got toned down with Nioh 3.

2000s internet offered a lot of exploration that you can't find today because things like socal media platforms forced everyone into a single place on the internet so now you are surrounded by a bunch of fuckers you have nothing in common with making it near impossible to meet anyone with similar taste as yourself nowadays

I could be talking about... Resident Evil and then suddenly some fuckers comes in talking about real world politics and events that have nothing to do with the game. It's shit like this I can't stand.

Still not the same level of skill and dedication as other hobbies require, unless you play them in a professional level, in which case it's not a hobby anymore.

That's why they still fall into the quick reward category.

>There is no point to having hobbies or uploading them on the internet if there's no money involved, when you won't get prioritized and be seen by people because of the algorithm.
Why do you care about being seen? Just do things because you enjoy them.
I shiny hunt Pokemon because I enjoy it and don't share my shinies anywhere. I 100% games because I enjoy them and don't share my cheevos anywhere. I collect LEs and figures but don't upload pictures of them anywhere because what matter is my own personal enjoyment out of my hobbies.
You don't need validation to enjoy things unless you're a vapid retard.

No, older games could definitely require a lot of skill and memorization. Something like actual roguelikes like Nethack and Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup come to mind so it's not even necessarily a reflex thing.

The problem with modern games is that they are all very easy to understand and play but because of that, they're something that you sort of passively consume most of the time, movie games in particular are basically visual novels. Even in non movie games, you press the buttons to do cool things and win without much challenge but those games are competing against TV, Movies, and most importantly social media for effortless consumption products and social media's dopamine cycles are unbeatable when you're scrolling your timeline seeing new videos every 5 seconds.

So not only are corporations are ruining what made games unique in the first place, but they're unable to compete against social media. Which is why we're seeing game sales continue to tank and gachas that everyone autoplays while they browse social media become popular.

This is the only reasonble complaint. All the youtube and tiktok kiddies dogpiling anything with categorizable "lore" ruin anything that gets remotely popular by proximity alone. As far as hobbies go, you're spouting bullshit, no one who's actually into something creative would say that, you're just either being lazy and not wanting to search, or being a hipster who wants his secret club. 4chan is mainsteam now, none of us like it, but that's the way it is, get over it.

Sure, but most popular games weren't that challenging, and the majority are the ones that set the standard.

If video games became dumber was because people want them that way, they raged about wanting cheats and guides and they ended up this way.

Corporations just give what people want, and people want quick rewards for little effort.

The Internet and YouTubers priced me out of my hobbies. I miss when people kept good things on the dl instead of exposing it to the Internet for some views.

>>734166835
>If video games became dumber was because people want them that way
That's not really true. Back in the 2010's gaming was trending towards retards like it is currently but then Dark Souls came out and was a massive hit so the industry course corrected because now you could get more money when you make games harder.

But the industry is shifting towards appealing to everyone again because the Soulslike genre and market for "hard games" got crowded. Games like Baba is You are pretty fucking hard too and that did well, so again it's not just a mechanical thing where the execution has to be difficulty.

People DO want harder games, which is why Elden Ring sold 30 million copies. The industry just thinks that they need to appeal to everyone to maximum profits. I don't have access to the internal metrics they do, maybe 90% of Elden Ring players quit at the first boss but I sort of doubt that. There are still people that like a challenge, and that is what sets vidya apart from all other entertainment mediums and even some hobbies like reading.

This 100% video games used to treat everyone who played them as 1000 IQ individuals. But now they all treat you like you have a sub 20IQ and because of that any form of INNOVATION nowadays is only through the means of making all forms of creation easier which we are dealing with right now thanks to this AI bullshit

A momentaneous trend does not make the rule. You said it yourself after, the industry corrected itself to what people truly want.

The same goes for anything really, for music, movies, books, etc. A momentaneous trend that gave us great media, but it wasn't the rule, and people always came back to listen, watch or read to more casual stuff.

Funny you mention music because Billy Corgan came out recently and said that MTV purposefully suppressed Rock music in the early 2000's in order to push Rap more and it wasn't due to demand because Rock concerts still bring in the most money.

Sometimes, the industries will tell you what you want instead of giving you what you want. Which...is exactly what has been happening with "woke" media and all of those products pandering to that audience crashing and burning. In regards to vidyam there's not much demand for all these live service games companies keep churning out either, but they really want consumers to play them and give them money for the next 10 years.

One way to look at it, is that companies are trying to pander to kids to get them away from Roblox and casuals to get them away from whatever the modern Candy Crush is but it's not working and they're driving away existing customers towards indie games instead that respect players instead of treating them as infants. A recent example being Silksong.

Giving low IQ normies and third worlders access to the internet and letting them voice their retarded opinions and connect with other retards is what ruined the internet and entertainment media as a whole.

Oh, were they actually slaves? I knew a Kim, and by that, I mean his surname was Kim. Slavery doesn't even make sense, and it means a place is poorly governed. Europeans have always had taxes, I'm pretty sure, but that's different to slavery, where you don't get to eat if you don't work.

Okay, but is he himself interesting? Obviously not, because he made a thread and then left the thread. It's just indicative of no self-awareness whatsoever, which is a very modern problem due to ethnics and their slave personalities.
How did they become slaves? It's because they're incapable of having original thoughts, and so the smarter people just put them to work. The entire website is that kind of person giving their opinion.
