I run through BBI in 1 and roam around watching monsters fight each other or NPCs in 2. I fashionmax in 1 and camp endlessly in 2. What killed Dragon's Dogma 2 for me honestly wasn't the lack of content or downgrades from the first game, it was just how unimaginative and by the numbers it felt. I know people praise DD1 for being like the ultimate TRAD FANTASY experience but honestly what I found the most interesting about the first game was all the stuff that wasn't traditional like the Arisen and cycles. It was subversive and meta about the nature of video games in a subtle way I really enjoyed.It's why I dislike the whole cope about DD2 being some kind of social commentary on sequel culture and just being stuck in place rehashing the same ideas over and over. DD1 already kind of had that, hell DMC5 had that, while still being filled with exciting fun ideas. If DD2 was meant to be a "fuck you" to Capcom from Itsuno then it certainly didn't start out that way, rather it just came from the game's troubled development
